If West Brom beat Villa they will have 25 points and will be 7 points below us. I think a draw is the best result to keep a gap between us and 10th.

If he has been "proven to be mediocre", why is he wearing the number 9 shirt of one of Europe's biggest clubs?
-
Something the player you suggested hasn't done at all (yet) and is completely unproven at a high level. You don't become Juventus' number 9 without having something about you.
-
Vucinic is attempting to put the ball in the net of a goal defended by top flight players in Italy where as Ings is doing it in the Championship. I'm not dismissing Ings as he does look promising, but you can't really draw comparisons on goal record. Vucinic is an established player (although now out of favour) at one of Europe's top clubs and in a better league than Ings.

Giroud would have had a harder time scoring that by attempting to outmuscle Lovren or Wanyama.
-
Yes, Rodriguez was also at fault, but Yoshida was the one marking the eventual goalscorer. Giroud outmuscled him.
-
He was far from solid, it wasn't just the goals we conceded, his poor distribution throughout and decision making put Saints on the back foot on a number of occasions.
-
Wanyama has played as a centre back in the past and Yoshida doesn't fill me with confidence (he was very much our weak link last night). Unlikely to happen on Saturday, but it isn't a completely bizarre suggestion.

For Premier League sides, yes. Different in the Football League as for them the window to bring loan players opens up again in early February and closes in March.
-
What is wrong with Peter Shilton being on the banner? He earned 50 caps for England whilst playing for Saints. How many other players will ever do that? There is room for Lallana to be added alongside the rest.
-
We'll also have an 18 year old left back and possibly a 18 year old right back and a 19 year old midfielder on the pitch. Not happy with that either?
-
Because he probably didn't get the full amount of what was left on his contract and now gets the chance to find another club that will pay him during the time he would have been contracted at Saints. - Saints benefit from having to pay him less - Martin benefits as his football career can move on and he gets a payoff Barnard hasn't left Saints, he is on loan at Southend.
-
Yep, Jonathan Forte is still at the club.

One of the 10 reasons is "we held the FA Cup for a record 7 years", but fail to mention the reason they had it so long was due to World World II breaking out!
-
Its hard to see him being a Pochettino type player. On his day he is a superb player, but if anything his lack of work rate is the complete opposite of what you'd expect Pochettino to be looking to sign. He also will turn 33 years old on 30th January, so again doesn't match our previous transfer policy.

What makes you think that?

Why Kelvin Davis over Artur Boruc? Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC2h MP: “Artur Boruc is fine.” And Rodrigues?

Nothing different from any other week. The press-conferences before every game start with questions from broadcast media outlets like Sky, then the cameras are switched off and the written press then get to ask questions. This is then embargoed until the evening so it can make the papers the next day without things leaking.
-
We should try and swap him for Ever Banega.

FA Cup 5th round draw thread (Sunderland Away)
Matthew Le God replied to rickylambert's topic in The Saints
As ever in these threads... I want the worst team left in the competition at St Mary's in order to give us the best possible chance of winning the FA Cup. -
Listen to the Yeovil commentary instead.

Technically the captain always starts the game.

Not the same logic at all, it will take a lot more than one team having an upturn in form to overtake Saints and relegate them. There are a lot of teams below Saints and only 16 games left they simply won't all be able to catch Saints if we had a huge collapse. Anyone who thinks it'll take 40 points is daft. It'll be in the low to mid 30's, where Saints already are with 16 games left.
