  1. As Saints want centre backs to play out from the back, his confidence and ability on the ball is exactly what we need so I don't think it would be a waste of his talents.
  2. Yep, its not the be all and end all as the likes of Wenger, Mourinho and Rodgers have shown. But Lovren for example is more likely to take positional advice in analysis sessions more seriously from Ronald Koeman who has played very well at the highest level than he would from Nigel Adkins and Andy Crosby for example.
  3. Because he is good in the air, positionally astute and comfortable on the ball. The club even used him as a centre back in under 21 games towards the end of last season.
  4. Yep, he could easily convert to a centre back in a three. Allows us to get both Clyne and Chambers into the starting line-up.
  5. We already have goalkeeper coaches in the academy, Kelvin Davis is still contracted as a first team player until June 2016. He isn't going to give up a playing contract for a coaching contract in the academy.
  6. When the Pompey fans realise they have a direct line to abuse the Southampton manager he may have second thoughts about having an unprotected Twitter account.
  7. Ronald Koeman ‏@Koeman1963 7m On a tour at training centre of @SouthamptonFC Impressed by the club's facilities. Now even more excited to start!
  8. He visited Staplewood for the first time today and Les Reed gave him a tour... So when people said in the last 3 weeks he had been spotted at Staplewood, they were lying.
  9. Koeman and Shearer previewing the 2010 World Cup... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9ovX6_ay5o
  10. Dodd and Williams were managing the under 18's, not the development squad. Martin Hunter is still the development squad (under 21's) manager.
  11. I'd go further than that, at the time of his appointment he has the most impressive playing and managerial CV in Southampton's 129 year history.
  12. Simon Burwood ‏@SiCamHd 9m Koeman has arrived at #saintsfc
  13. Maya Yoshida in a Budweiser advert with Eto'o, Cahill. Hulk and Axl Rose... Our player's media exposure has come a long way since our League One days!
  14. I didn't say I liked it, but that is about as far as the Northam's imagination for two people with the same surname will go.
  15. Saints fans already use it for Kelvin and Steven Davis.
  16. Linked in the Scottish Daily Mail with a move for Fraser Forster. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/scottish/gossip/
  17. It'll probably end up being something like this...
  18. The academy system didn't start until circa 1998.
  19. 1/5 is the best you'll get at the moment... http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton/next-permanent-manager
  20. 7th June Ronald Koeman @Koeman1963 · Jun 7 Meer dan 100.000 volgers bereikt! Dank jullie allemaal! 13th June Ronald Koeman @Koeman1963 · 15m Fantastic! 200k followers, a big thanks to all of you!
  21. Indeed, Brighton for example... - announced Sami Hyypia as manager on 6th June - his first press conference was on 12th June
  22. Saints have a good number of players good enough for the Champions League, but not enough players of that quality to actually get there themselves as a club. 8th is where our squad should finish and that is where it did, that doesn't mean the likes of Lovren, Shaw, Rodriguez, Lallana, Lambert, Schneiderlin couldn't play for a Champions League challenging club.
  23. They finished 4th in one of the best leagues in World football last season.
  24. Southampton FC ‏@SouthamptonFC 29s We’re pleased to confirm that #SaintsFC will welcome @bayer04fussball to St Mary’s on Saturday 9th August at 5pm BST.
