Nothing you say there counters this... It wasn't a point. You asked a question. A question isn't a point. I answered the question that you asked. So how is my answer not a valid answer to that question? Do you not know the difference between points/statements and questions? You appear not to! Plus even if there was something further back in the thread, which I can't see how there would be. This thread is 15 pages long. All I did is answer a question that was asked. Do you really expect everyone to read every post in a long thread to see if there was something else that changed the question so it can't be taken on face value?

What exactly are you suggesting invalidates an answer of 'Martin had better players at his disposal' to a question of how 'Where we trounced them 4-0. How can this be?'.

How is my post not a valid answer to your question?

We only signed 7 players in the summer of the 2012/13 season and then only one player in Janaury (Forren who never played a game). My point is that the gap between the leagues is a lot bigger now than 13 years ago and we may need more significant squad changes than just 7 players like we had in 2012/13. The summer of 2024 was the time to move on Armstrong, Aribo, Bree, Smallbone, Stephens, Manning etc. They aren't good enough for the Premier League and we needed a complete squad overall. Instead, Russell Martin openly admitted he was loyal to the promotion squad. A larger turnover of players may have caused gelling issues, but it is player quality that has let us down this season so I think it should have been a risk worth taking.

No evidence to suggest Sport Republic have anything but good intentions for the club. The issue is inept recruitment which hopefully Solak taking over as chairman and Johannes Spors overseeing recruitment will resolve. Da Grosa had red flags for good reason! Wouldn't want him anywhere near the club.

Hard to see any club seeing value in spending €10m on a player they can sign without paying a transfer fee for in the summer.

Correct

Scoring only 1 goal in 18 League One matches this season suggests Ballard has a long way to go before being given a PL chance.

The gap in quality between the leagues is bigger than it was 13 years ago.

Exactly! That needs to be the thinking after any new promotion. Russell Martin openly admitted he felt loyal to the players that got the promotion. But most simply aren't good enough for the PL. Next time, use them to get promotion, then upgrade. It may cause short term gelling issues to have a big turnover of players, but we will need a big change in player quality if we ever want to stay up after a promotion.

Which others are being blocked and are at PL ability level? Because I don't think any of them are at a level even worth giving them a go yet. They aren't ready for the Premier League. Amo-Ameyaw is the only one close enough and even then a Championship loan of regular minutes in a competitive team would benefit him more ahead of next season.

Why would he accept less than all his remaining wages?

You are using another fallacy. Not being effective at Premier League level when we have the worst squad does not mean it wouldn't be effective when next season we'll have one of the strongest squads in the league.
-
Textbook example of an argumentum ad populum fallacy. Just because they don't, does not mean it wouldn't be effective for another manager/club.

@Paul Chuckle rather than just using a confused emoji on all of my posts, try explaining why you are confused by it.

Do not look at it as five at the back then! Look at it as 3421 or 3412 or 343. Playing 3 centre backs doesn't mean it is negative. Can still be a very proactive, high pressing and attacking team using those systems. Especially when we'll be favourites and with the better players in the majority of games next season.

1) Across all jobs people who are more competent at tasks can often do them quicker than others doing the same task. In the case of match officials, less pondering over decisions. Might not be a huge difference in time, but having a higher % of correct calls benefits the sport. 2) Because hiring the best in the world at a task leads to more accurate decisions vs only the best from one country. People who are better at their job are more accurate at that job. Hardly a controversial statement!
