Get a grip people! We've mixed it pretty well with top 6 sides since Xmas, of course it will be hard, they have it all to play for, plus the saggy effect. We need an Everton-style start to blow them away in the first 20 mins, we are a much better footballing side than them, we have a better defence than them, a better midfield than them, and more firepower than them. They are bottom (for a reason) and with two wins all season. Last week was a blip, away after a two week lay-off, we were out-battled and out-played by a decent team (that hasn't happened too often recently) and a team who needed a fair bit of lady luck to secure their home win. We should win tomorrow, yes it will be hard, yes there will be moments along the way, but I will be gutted with anything less than a win tomorrow. 4-0 Saints.

Much better than me, I've had us down for 27 wins and we certainly haven't won 10 yet .

Can we see a chart for 'all goals' before we decide if we have a problem? -
Lallana is an excellent player but can be a little inconsistent. Not sure if we've got quite the right mix of road-sweepers and violinists at the moment, particularly away from home.

Not sure we'll ever know will we? Went into the game on the back of a 'foot injury' and hadn't played for 3 weeks. Apparently he had a temperature/virus/sore throat in the lead up. Maybe he took a knock, no sign of that but he was involved in several bruising encounters in the first half. On a yellow and finding Debuchy and Guittierez a real handful, risk of a red? I'd go for the red-card option personally.

He'll be fine, he's just waiting for the other players to get on his wavelength. Seriously, he just seems to be a complete fish out of water in the PL. Good technical ability but **** poor decision making most of the time. Does himself no favours with refs when he goes down so easily but on the other boot, he gets no protection from refs at all; other teams just seem to double up on him and push, shove, kick, trip, bundle him to the ground and he hardly ever gets a free kick. If he was as 'good' as he is supposed to be you would think he would be learning and improving from game to game, unfortunately while most players have come on leaps and bounds virtually no improvement from his first performance to today. Let's get shot at the end of the season, wish him well, and move on. Happens all the time in football, he's certainly not irreplaceable.

I think I've seen this before, any mortgage brokers on here or anybody else in that line of work? Currently tied into a pretty poor deal with my current lot (4.49% fixed for another 18 months) and I would like to pay them up and start again at a better rate and with higher repayments. Currently paying 905 month, we owe 32,800 plus a buy-out fee of 1,310 so need 34k to pay them up. They have offered a lifetime tracker at 3.79, that would take 38 months x £975, or 30 months x £1220. Trying to look around on the interweb at alternatives but most calculators won't go below 5 years repayments. Presumably it is possible to get shorter terms than 60 months (?). Ideally I would like to get the payments down to 24 months at c1500, I could afford this. Would an offset mortgage be any help in this situation? Could prob get my hands on 15k cash to off-set but would have to take it out of ISAs to do that .... would that be cost effective? (Could put the 15k off the mortgage, pay the remainder off in 12 months, and then run without any savings/reserves for 12 months but not keen on that) On a tangent I could get a 5 yr fix that gives 60 payments of 629, half-tempted by this approach but Mrs S wants it out the way asap , thoughts?

Arteta better than Morgan this season? Monreal better than Shaw? not seen much of him but he must be good! Sagna?? absolute dross since he broke his leg (he used to be good), wouldn't get near Clyne on current form.
-
How many Arsenal players would get in the Saints side? I was sat with some neutrals at the Chelsea away game and they said Clyne, Shaw and Morgan would all walk into their starting X1, reckon it could be more? ................... Boruc ........................ Clyne ..... Yoshi ...... ????? ....... Shaw ............ Morgan .... Wilshire ............... Walcott .... Carzola ......... Podolski ............... SRL ........................ Bench Arse GK One CB from Fonte/Forren/Vermarlonnon Arse's best FB (they haven't really got a good one) Cork Lallana / (Ox?) Ramirez Giroud Are they getting worse or are we getting better? (or a bit of both?)

Chris Perry did a decent job for us. Legs had gone but he compensated with his experience and always gave his all. Remember the total capitulation at Hillsborough that pretty much sent us down from the Champ to Lge 1, him and KD played them on their own that day.

Andorra is fantastic, reds and blacks are unpisted and skiing on 20-30cm powder, plus unlimited off piste and tree skiing if you like that sort of thing. It snowed all night last night, sunny and ridiculously warm today (must have been 0 to -2 and no wind), snowing hard again this evening, so same again tomorrow. Ridiculously busy today, snow and sun and weekend = carnage, hopefully quieter tomorrow.
-
I am in Andorra next week (school trip, freebies can't be choosers), they are having an excellent season. Arcalis (which is an excellent 'unknown' resort) is currently skiing on 'fresh snow' with 20-30cm to come over the weekend, bring it on!

Cortese and Le Tissier arrange meeting
sandwichsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Although he did interview Eddie Howe first and flirted with Phil Brown too before deciding on Adkins? Judging on what we now know you can bet that NC also had a wandering eye abroad, particularly to Italy, and it looks likely that with the budget he was operating on he could easily have afforded a bigger name (if he could get anyone to drop to Lge One). Not sure the appointment of NA was as one-dimensionally obvious as hindsight would make it appear. -

Speak for yourself. There were a few that knew who he was and who could see what potentially a good fit he was for us. I remember chucking my toys when NC started playing hard ball with Scunny over compo and it looked like it might all fall through. I never really wanted anyone else, Mowbray was my second choice at the time (not sure how that would have worked out?) and I would also have taken either one of those two SaintsWeb anti-christs Holloway or Warnock (reckon either of those two would have taken us through two leagues with the set-up we had). Clearly NA was an inspired appointment from NC, it's worked out almost perfectly for NC, less so for NA, but let's not think 'anyone' could have taken us through two leagues in two seasons. Anybody too 'big' might have found it hard to work with NC and his vision, and his hands-on transfer policy (his selection policy?), any body too small would have been blown away by the pressure of NC; NA was just perfect and played his part in the vision to perfection. Cortese, football genius, or lucky general? -

Cork - Schneiderlin partnership, changed under Pocchetino?
sandwichsaint replied to Neef's topic in The Saints
Loving this thread, the number of people on here that six months ago thought Cork wasn't up to it. Reckon 50% of posters on here were agitating for new or better players at the start of the season. 'Cork, one of those players that gets better and better the more he doesn't play', absolutely typical comment from the first month of the season and there were loads more where that came from. -
Agreed, bit extreme moving a whole river system.

Maloney is decent, one of the best players I have seen at SMS this season. Scharner was excelent last time round. El Habsi has been very inconsistent of late.

Removes derogatory comment to Leigh RMI. How many do Leigh Centurians get? Reminder to self; assumptions make an ass out of you and me. .

this. pre-season friendly at Gillingham, cursory first half and rolled off at half time. Second half hevappeared down the front of the away fans terraces, saints kit on, sweat shirt round his shoulders, flip flops on and fag in hand.chatted with him for a good 10 minutes, top bloke and in his own way a decent player for us. He used to be a policeman too.
