Wasn't free though. Pretty sure Blackburn were entitled to a fair lump of compo. Plus the fact it is rumoured he's got a bit of an attitude on him as well. I also think I'm being conservative with the £60k a week. I seem to re-call Pardew saying his expectations were actually much higher than this.
-
Agree 100%.
-
Nothing at all has suggested that Junior Hoilett is worth £60k a week. Park is a work-horse but lacks class. He has been signed for shirt sales and his work rate, which I probably should add is on the decline.

I agree our survival prospects would perhaps look a little brighter if we sign a couple more quality players but I'm not prepared to slit my wrists if we don't before Saturday. With respect to you all, we could sign Vincent Kompany, Gerard Pique and Nani before the end of the transfer window and it's still likely we'd be close to the bottom with our opening fixtures.
-
Have you seen their signings? I genuinely wouldn't want any of them. Maybe Danny Guthrie for squad depth.
-
I'm sure that's what Man Utd fans are going to be up all night about, worrying about Van Persie...
-
Yes I do, but I trust our scouting team and management to evaluate the areas we need to strengthen and to act accordingly. Nothing they have done the past 2 years has suggested they should be questioned.
-
Yeah clubs are queueing up to sell their best players aren't they? Signing the right player takes time. Not just time to identify the right player but time to persuade the selling club to sell and time to negotiate terms with the player. Not all of our signings were going to be done by Mid-August. They never have been.
-
I'd agree, had we not already signed Clyne, Davis and Rodriguez. All 3 improve the team significantly. Realistically we are only 1 or 2 signings away from what Adkins said we'd be looking for anyway so I'd say we are about where we should be, signings-wise, this summer.
-
Great idea!!!! Lets go out and sign a load of $hite for over-inflated fees and salaries just because they happen to have PL experience just to appease you because you are paying a bit more for your season ticket.
-
It's not crap though is it? It is fact that 2 years ago we were in League 1 and here we sit, a Premier League club 3 days before the season starts having already spent £10m+ on players. Would you not have taken that if offered 2 years ago?
-
Yes, chill out. Two years ago has every thing to do with it. We could quite easily be in a much, much worse position than we are today. Nigel Adkins has stated he would like to bring in some players but it is important he brings in the right ones. I get the feeling most of you would be happy for him to just sign someone, anyone in order to appease you without any regard for asking if they are actually better than what we already have. We've made 4 signings. 3 of which have been bought to go straight in to the first team. I have every faith we are working to address the acquisition of a defender and a winger but am happy to wait until the end of the transfer window if I have to for the players Nigel and Nicola feel are the right ones. I just don't think it is right to write the season off before a ball is being kicked because we haven't completed all our business yet.
-
Can everyone just chill the f*ck out and have some perspective? Remember where we were 2 years ago. Remember where this club was 4 years ago. "Oh no, we are doomed in the Premier League because we've only spent £10m so far and signed 4 players..." Get over it.

I live in Fulham but have also lived in Earls Court, Holland Park and Kensington Olympia in the last 10 years. If you want to stay on the Central Line, Shepherds Bush and Acton aren't too bad. I personally would try and stay on the Piccadilly line though. Love going out in She Bu and it's great for Westfield but wouldn't really fancy living there. Good luck with the move though. If ever Saints are on TV for away games oop north we tend to get a pretty good crowd in the Famous 3 Kings in West Kensington. Maybe see you in there at some point!

People keep saying Newcastle over achieved but they have a squad containing the likes of Krul, Coloccini, Santon, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Gutierrez, Ba and Pa**** Cisse. Thats about a strong a spine you get in the prem outside of Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd. It is streets ahead of Liverpool. Providing they do not sell anyone, they'll be in or around the top 6 or 7 again.
-
Liverpool will finish below Newcastle and Arsenal will finish above Tottenham too, especially if they lose Modric. Think Norwich will struggle. They lack any really outstanding players and may struggle with second season syndrome. Especially without Lambert.

Anyone know what time the doubles final starts?
-
Andy murray you little fecking beauty!!!!!!
-
2 match points...
-
He "isn't trying" as you say because Murray has broken his will and had an answer for everything he's thrown at him. Come on Andy, this is your time....
-
Fook me, that'll be some contest this year.
-
Indeed it looks that way. He's been phenomenal all match.
-
The worrying thing is that Muray can lose his head very quickly. He must hold serve here...
-
Yeah looks like it...
