Cortese's son in the Academy? Is he any good?
sambosa75 replied to captain sensible's topic in The Saints
He's not there based on skill or talent. Lets just leave it at that. -
His 2nd half performance away to Chelsea last season. He was brilliant. Headed away everything that came his way.
-
He used to live on Carne Close in Hiltingbury. Never forget getting out a taxi with my mate at around 5am after a night in town followed by the casino to find Delap doubled over on the pavement spewing his guts up as he'd decided to go out for an early "jog". If you push yourself to those levels on a jog, you win my respect! I offered him a bite of my kebab from the caspian but he declined.

Anyone got a decent stream? Can only find a really patchy one. Cheers.

I personally don't think that Hull have been awful so far today. We've just played that well. In fairness to them, they've been nowhere near as bad as Palace or Fulham at SMS in recent memory.

What a performance so far. To a man, they've been brilliant.

Post Match Reaction: Manchester United 1-1 SAINTS
sambosa75 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
So would you say that his hold up play has been good since he joined us? Would you say his link up play has been good too? Do you feel he drops deep and allows team mates to get past him? How many times has he really got himself in to clear goalscoring positions? I can remember his West Ham chance. That's about it. Don't really ever remember his movement causing defenders a great deal of problems. Perhaps his goal against Palace, apart from that? If you think I'm clueless about him, I'd start questioning your judgement me old mucker. As I say, I'm not giving up on him but he needs to start showing more to his game. -

How is he clearly quality? He can't hold it up, doesn't link particularly well with midfield, doesn't really appear to get in great goal scoring positions, his movement so far hasn't been great and shoots when better options are available. I'm sure he's a good player because Pochettino rates him but I'd be concerned if MP said he was happy with his contribution in a Saints shirt so far. -

Agreed. Don't get what some see in him so far. Apart from that, great result/performance. JWP was brilliant when he came on and Lallana was brilliant. -
Mauricio Pochettino's Post-Match Reaction - Swansea

Interesting. Really. Hope Gaston pulls his finger out and applies himself. -
If it wasn't for their whiny fans I'd totally agree. Wenger is an unparalelled genius when the string a couple of wins together. The minute they draw or lose a couple though, its all "Wenger's lost it, spend some cash blah blah blah".

Doubt Cortese would even give them the dignity of a response at that price. Very lazy journalism.

Should add that he brings out the best in Fonte too. He looks a class act as well this season.

Rolls Royce defender.

Not you Alpine... Surely?
-
Not sure they will to be honest. For some reason they've scaled back recently and have only been showing a couple of games at 3pm. Last week it was the Arsenal game and Bournemouth v Wigan. I'd say if anywhere in London was going to show it, F3K would be the best shout but I expect them to choose another couple of games. I'll prob be there though, so come say hi if you do come!

You mean to tell me they both have coaches? Someone is actually training those techniques!?

Just arrived back from Portugal now. My nephew is part of the squad. Despite being an under 15 tournament it was actually our under 14s that played with a couple of additions from the 15s. We started off quite slow and lost the first game 2-0 to a talented Portuguese side who finished top of the group. They went 2-0 up early on and perhaps took their foot off the pedal a little, allowing us more time on the ball but unfortunately we weren't able to break their stubborn defence down. The next game was against a Spanish side called Brave Astondoa. Typical Spanish side in that they kept the ball and pressed extremely well when they didn't have it. Have to say we didn't get a look in in this game and lost 3-0. By no means a disgrace as they actually went on to win the tournament proper earlier today. It turns out that they are an invitational side comprised of the best players from the academies of Valencia, Villareal, Elche and Hercules. The last group game was against a side from Norway. We drew 2-2 after starting well and gaining an early lead but letting them get their noses in front after we had a lad (harshly) sent off. Managed to grab an equaliser through a great solo effort from a lad called Dan who I think has a promising future. Finished 3rd in group by virtue of conceding less goals than the Norwegian side. The plate tournament was certainly a lower standard, sides letting us impose ourselves a bit more and in the end our superior fitness won through. The lads played 3 games in total yesterday. The better fitness levels were evident as by the time we got to the final, our Italian opponents were dead on their feet and we ran out comfortable 5-1 winners. There were some real positives for the lads to come away with but also a little sobering as to how far they are behind the Portuguese and in particular Spanish side we played in the group stages. Stayed in a town called Cascais which is a lovely town about 30 minutes from Lisbon. If anyone gets a chance to go, they definitely should.

Carel's a decent player. My nephew has been playing up a year or two and has turned out alongside him. Pacy forward and natural finisher apparently.

God I am glad that Adkins left...how embarrassing!

Bloke can do no wrong in my eyes. Good on him. Staying true to himself. -
I'm not even watching it. Can't be bothered. I looked at the starting XI and thought I'm going to learn absolutely nothing new. We'll flatter to deceive, probably grind out a 2-1 win. I agree about Hodgson, with his background at the likes of Blackburn, Fulham and West Brom I thought he'd have more emphasis on players from the less fashionable clubs, realising that they'll be fitter and more hungry to impress. Particularly in friendlies.

In a good way I'm guessing. He is immense though. Great pace, strength and stamina. I rate him up there with the best full backs around. Top player. No way he's coming here to compete with Shaw. -
Both wrong. He has since accepted a place in the England under 19 squad.

A friend of mine won the FHM high street honey competition a few years back. She's a switched on girl, was studying to be a nurse at the time and donated the £10k award to charity. The magazine interviews would always try and ask her smutty questions and she refused to answer them. Shortly afterwards the work dried up as she also refused to do topless and fully naked. I don't think it's a question of the girls being stupid, more that they are "willing to play the game" and answer the smutty questions making themselves come across as cheap and stupid. It seems this is what is required to keep getting your pictures published in the mags.
