...and it's only on Sky which means even fewer of us will get to see games played by the national team which means in turn that that the national team will have even less relevance to most fans than it does now. That's one fat goose plucked!

Nope! Unless hell is about to freeze over.

Come on MI6 there must be some CCTV footage around, everything is captured on CCTV these days. I'd go for Yoshi myself, it's called "taking one for the team". Um... sorry Elio......

Nailed on! The only thing you missed was the obvious jealousy aroused within his real daughter Kat by Marcus' close relationship with his 'adoptive' son Nicola. As soon as Marcus croaked Nicola was done for and the Kat could turn her attention to liquidising her inheritance. Nobody can blame her for not sharing her father's obsession, not many kids do but her less than subtle means of selling off the family silver ignited most of the subsequent rancour. She failed to understand what a football club is, that is far, far more than the sum of its disposable parts. What she should have done is admitted no interest and put the Club up for sale immediately lock, stock & barrel as a going concern. Had she done so it is quite probable that we would not be in the mess we are now.

You know as well as the rest of us that all STs are included in the official attendance figures whether our not the owners are sitting in them. There were loads of ST absentees in the Itchen so the real attendance figure might have been lower than 25k. Looking around you could see empty seats in every section on Sunday. OK it was on TV and there were travel disruptions but what should be more worrying for the PL is that many people can no longer be Rrsed to turn out just to see a rich club strut itself in totally uncompetitive one-sided matches. This season is beyond boring, it is becoming no longer of any interest to even the most fair minded of supporters.

Maybe we need relegation like we needed administration...

14 down and 14 up sounds like a very good idea to me....... -
All very worthy comments but very naive. Gao's ownership interest is purely financial, as long as we stay in the PL and don't spend money we don't have and the TV contracts after 2022 continue to be as lucrative as they are now then the guy will be getting around 10% return on his investment - very nice little earner indeed these days with interest rates generally low. It's easy to work out that if he started buying players for £60m he would wipe out 3 year worth of earnings for every player brought in at that level. He is also picking up his regular shareholder dividends. Even if he plans to be here for 5 years there is no way he will dilute his earnings by providing new transfer money. Any transfer money will have to come from player sales... you know the rest of the story!

Saints 0-3 Chelsea - Match + Reaction
Charlie Wayman replied to Hamilton Saint's topic in The Saints
Most people in the ground saw it as a clean tackle so did the ref and the linesman so that's all there is to say. The decision was made there and then and there is no more to be said. That's why we have refs and linesmen. Hindsight as always is 20/20 vision and how do we know that the video had't been doctored, in any case it was only from one angle? -

He wasn't that good, Hughes was constantly in his ear down by the technical area for slowness in possession, passing backwards or not getting the ball forward quickly enough. He was subbed anyway because of the formation change after HT when we gave up on three at the back and went to 4-4-2. To be fair to Hughes, he called that right as we had had zero attacking threat in the first half; as it happened bringing on Romeu to shore up the middle of the park was a master-stroke, from then on we matched Chelsea in the midfield even if sloppiness cost us a couple of goals later. Sadly now, we have a combination of a manager who is not very good and a bunch of players who are obviously reasonably good footballers but of limited ability who are not good enough on the ball, in possession, in quickness of thought or in decision making. The gulf in class is simply down to these factors but you have to spend a great deal of money to find the exceptional players at the top of the tree who have these attributes field honed. We saw a few of them in blue shirts yesterday. This is not about fitness, application or energy or being at the top of their game it is about players who possess these attributes instinctively and are able too apply them without apparent effort. We just don't have players like that. -
Steve Bruce has just moved into pole position with his new qualifications, out of work and cheap!

Obviously you've not been paying attention. He is rapidly becoming our best player this season bearing in mind his slow start because he arrived back from the World Cup ages after everyone else. Remember too that screamer he scored at the end of last season. I was delighted when he stepped forward last night to clinch our win. Too many on here dis the bloke for reasons that escape me and no doubt many others. He is a class act and could play in a much better team than our current load of brainless cast offs and will find many high profile suitors when his contract ends.

Exactly. No progress at all and none of the non-regulars impressed enough to move into the reckoning for Saturday.

Wolves 2 Saints 0 - Match & Meltdown Thread

All that is your problem not ours, your life story is of no interest to any of us. Plenty of social media on which to feel sorry for yourself and find a shoulder to cry on. -

You're becoming very good at these put downs, good to have somebody on here who has their feet well and truly painted and can cut through all the bull**** and pomposity. No amount of hyperbole will turn JWP into a PL level footballer, he's had chance after chance after chance and always has come up short. No future here unless Brylcream becomes a sponsor. -

Benji, what a wonderful set of ripostes. Made my day! -
Redmond also had a go at Lemina for a poor pass, bit like pots & kettles. How do you know this stuff anyway? Hope it's true and there are real rifts in the hierarchy. Best way to sort things out. A few "FO's" and "You can FO too" upstairs can't come soon enough!

Actually he is not very good, looks very pedestrian which is why the Scousers let him leave.

This is just a load of crap, what game are you watching. Cedric is just about our best player today in a very poor bunch. -

Seems to be a comedy of errors everywhere on the pitch, our passing is appalling. Why isn't Bertie getting forward for the return pass from Redmond and why has Cedric been told not to run to the bye line as he used to do. Elyonoussi has been **** poor and Austin is a lumbering oaf about 5 yards off the pace. -
Bugger me, the idiot has left Yoshida yet again. Bugger me, the idiot has left Romeu yet again.

The Pre-January Transfer Window Thread
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Let's not get carried away by agent talk who see the plight we are in. There is no money to buy players unless we sell a few first. I agree with you on that list of PTSBD players but will anybody want them and will there be enough time negotiate and conclude good deals for them before we start shopping. Then their is the inescapable fact that we have not been very good at bringing in even half decent players in January in recent seasons. As an aside will Hughes' opinions matter one jot or tittle by January? -
That is exactly the point, at this moment in time with the players we have and a journeymen manager we are very lucky to have kept him. If he plays badly from time to time it is hardly surprising with the woeful lack of quality around him. It must be depressing for a European Nations Cup winner to swallow the bitter pill of lining up alongside Stevens, Vestergaard & Hoedt and having to cover their arses because of the inevitable clangers that they drop in every match. He is better than this team so does not have the platform anymore to exploit his talent as an attacking wing-back. He'll go for sure when his contract runs out.

In your opinion maybe but not in mine but then again you do tend to be biased against the lad for some reason.
