  1. I hope we replicate what we did with the search for a striker - get linked with a load of really exciting players from abroad that we've never heard of but sound really good. Come really close to getting them only for them to get a better offer at the 11th hour. We can then settle on someone that unites the fanbase in apathy and march on with some nice PR soundbites. It's the Southampton Way.
  2. Prigozhin threatening to pull Wagner troops out of Bakhmut : https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-65493008 Wonder how the Russians will spin this?
  3. Fuck knows but probably. Seems very convenient but further evidence that God moves in mysterious and yet entirely predictable ways.....
  4. Wouldn't mannerisms fall under the nurture side of the nature vs nurture argument?
  5. Of course it's important to me - I pretty much said that. You're very good on spotting the blindingly obvious
  6. And that's entirely fair. If it's not important to you then don't worry about it. Personally it does bother me.
  7. That's my sole reason for objecting to monarchy. Everything else is a distraction and detracts from the argument. If you believe that the head of state shouldn't have that job simply through the hereditary principle then you don't believe in a monarchy. We can have the debate over what replaces it once we agree that it's a stupid decision to appoint someone based entirely on who their parents were (or in Harry's case who they weren't). How much money they bring in/cost, what they're like as individuals is entirely irrelevant to the argument.
  8. I've been using MidJourney a bit recently for AI images and it's quite impressive. Can get some pretty convincing photography and artwork. Don't get a whole lot of control over the image so general terms and themes work well but the moment you try and get really specific then it's a bit limited but I expect that'll improve pretty quickly. Looks like it could destroy the stock image industry almost overnight. Have to say I find the whole AI debate fascinating. I'd assumed that your creative industries would be fairly safe from AI but looks like they're more under threat than anywhere else.
  9. I haven't really checked - that's just what he said. I guess every fan thinks their club could be more active and spend more money. Bloke I spoke with goes to a lot of their games so I tend to trust his judgement. Shame as I thought Viera was a decent shout. I doubt we'd go for him anyway. From what I can see Ankerson appears to be a a fan of more direct football and I expect an appointment that matches that philosophy.
  10. Spoke to a Palace fan at work about Viera and he wasn’t very complimentary about him. Reckoned he didn’t play players in their best positions (particularly forwards) and their success last season was mainly due to Conor Gallagher. He did think Viera had a case that he should have been backed more in the transfer market but overall didn’t think he’d be any good for us.
  11. BBC news spending a whole fucking hour on Wrexham as though getting promoted is some kind of miracle
  12. There's no need for that law cos when they had their referendum it was a unanimous vote in favour of becoming Russian. What's the point of the law if there's no one in the occupied territories who doesn't want to be Russian?
  13. I think if we can score an early goal, and then follow it up by scoring a couple more times, and then manage to keep a clean sheet then we'll probably win this.
  14. We're down. No manager is going to turn this lot around and if there was a manager that could and was that good, then he wouldn't take the job because he'd already be in a better one. Club should be scouting and sounding out managers for the summer and the championship.
  15. I'm a bit more optimistic. It's a shame FOX didn't get dragged through a court case but we've already had Murdoch, Hannity and Carlson admit they were talking bollocks about the election. The court case wouldn't have added very much more to that. They've been humiliated and everyone knows it. I'd imagine they'll be more careful in the future about what they say which is only a good thing. The other cases will most likely be settled out of court but these are expensive settlements, even for a company like FOX.
  16. That's cos he's our secret weapon - much like the Spanish Inquisition no one expects Bree.
  17. If Moi plays then surely the fans would be the 11th man?
  18. Saints 9 - Palace 0 Moi to score all 9 goals with assists from Diallo (7) and Bree (2)
  19. I am getting pissed off with a few things - BBC News channel seems to have done nothing except cover his visit for the last couple of days. Does it really warrant that much coverage? Secondly Biden keeping on about how Irish he is. FFS you have to go back to his great great grandfather! He's not fucking Irish, and if he was then he wouldn't be President. I'm still missing Outside Source on BBC News channel - Roz Atkins would never have talked about Biden for a whole hour when nothing of any significance actually happened. Having said that, it's not all bad - Yalda Hakim is pretty easy on the eye.
  20. I'm not sure - probably worth asking Alex Jones about that.
  21. Only saw a bit of the Musk interview but the bit I did see was him doing the whole freedom of speech thing. That's fair enough but interviewer should have pushed him on the misinformation a bit more - misinformation isn't a matter of opinion but about being factually incorrect. This post-truth world does my nut in.
  22. Sorry LD but I'm really struggling with what your point is. If it's that fucking lefties would worship Thatcher if she advocated remaining in the EU then I think you're wrong. They'd probably agree with her on that issue though (although actually the fucking lefties have loads of Brexiteers in their ranks so maybe not even then). Or is it that if you believe in remain then you have to agree with everything everyone else says if they also believe in remain? I think the problem is that you've looked at life through the prism of leave and Brexit for so long that you think everyone else does as well.
  23. If we can't get Potter or Poch back then I'd like to see Tommy Widdrington get the job.
  24. Bastards are stopping Outside Source on BBC News channel and don’t seem to be replacing it with anything except the usual rolling news service. That and Newsnight are the only things I watch on BBC now (and Newsnight can’t hold onto any decent presenters) .
  25. I’d like to see the anti gun movement set up a body as powerful and well funded as the NRA. I guess the problem is that gun owners see it as one of the primary single voter issues whereas the anti gun movement don’t. Would be nice to see that change. if they can’t get their heads round changing things then it might be refreshing to see a politician stand up after another school massacre and be honest and tell their electorate that this is the price you pay for gun ownership. You want guns? Don’t fucking cry when you get mass shootings.
