  1. Don't really know much about Tete but if he's more like a traditional winger then I'd expect him to show some good early promise before Ralph gets him to concentrate on working against the ball and an emphasis on tracking back. Obviously hope he's great but I'm not sure that wingers are particularly suited to the 4222 formation - if you look at Redmond, Djenepo and Walcott none of them impress quite as much as they would do in a traditional winger role (and, yes, I'm aware that all of those have issues besides being traditional wingers). Just think that players like Stuart Armstrong and Elynoussi who are more like converted midfielders seem to perform a bit better in that role. Anyway, good thing about this (if true) is that presumably it'll give him a bit of time to settle into the area and club ahead of pre-season even if he can't play for us. I guess we can also pick up the £400 a month for Ukrainian refugee money that's on offer which is nice.
  2. I really don't think what Biden said makes any difference at all. We're supplying military aid to Ukraine, we're giving them intelligence and we're bankrolling them. Those things in themselves are enough for him to justify whatever he wants to, if he chooses to. Putin is a cunt who doesn't even need a reason to invade - he just makes shit up so the idea that he'll get his knickers in a twist over some off the cuff remarks is a bit far fetched. Only people bothered are news wonks and diplomats.
  3. Prefer that to the Denmark style one.
  4. Yeah, figured it was that and does show up a weakness in the UN governance.
  5. I’m sure someone can tell me but why isn’t a UN peacekeeping force being considered? That could at least help with humanitarian corridors and might make Russian military think twice about some of the shit they’re doing. It’s a decent way of helping without directly engaging against Russian troops.
  6. That's going to hurt him, I imagine he'll rethink his whole stance on Ukraine now...........
  7. Why not? it's not a particularly tricky word to pronounce even for a slough born Albanian.
  8. Probably misunderstood but Livramento scored against Burnley didn't he? Shouldn't that mean he's roughly on the same level as KWP (both scoring once in the premier league), and Cash should top that section having scored twice although having played slightly more?
  9. Genuine question but how many of these oligarchs already have most of their cash stashed in off shore tax havens that presumably they can still access? I know a lot has been made about all the sanctions that have been imposed but no one has really mentioned about the off shore stuff.
  10. Is it to do with cake, Blair or wokeness?
  11. Southampton has never been a socialist bordering on Stalinist state. I doubt you even know what those terms mean because if you did, you wouldn't be using them. I suspect you may be suffering from dementia.
  12. Settling out of court isn't exactly clearing his name. Looks more guilty than ever now.
  13. If Munira Mirza has been with Boris for 14 years then she must hold the record for the longest period of time in contact with him and not bearing him a child. The whole Starmer/Savile thing was pure Trumpian deflection designed to divert attention away from accusations that he's a liar. Unfortunately that only really works if you have friendly press like FOX news who will lap that stuff up. As far as I can see all media outlets have slapped him down so he's ended up in a situation where in order to deflect from people calling him a liar, he has highlighted an issue that he can be accused of repeating lies on. Great work.
  14. This is the price you pay for being successful in identifying prospects and then developing them. Yeah, it's frustrating but you make a profit which can be reinvested and you also add to your reputation and make it more likely to attract players who can replace them. I'd rather be in a position where we're trying to fend off offers for players than having a shedload we simply can't get rid of.
  15. It only saves them a fortune if they actually play him which means that one of their established players is on the bench and if they have a talented kid coming through then their pathway is blocked. Liverpool have Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones - neither are first team players and signing Carvalho will hamper their chances of first team football and developing as players. If Carvalho is going as a first team player then fair enough but if he isn't then it's to his own detriment - he'll end up like Loftus-Cheek with the occasional appearance, some loan spells and eventually drift off to lesser clubs. Sessegnon is another example - he played 10 times for Spurs in his first season and has failed to live up to his early promise. Would he have been better going to a club with less resources and less competition? Who knows but I think he would have been a better player if he had.
  16. Ah well, it’s not like we were desperate to bring someone in. January would have been a good time to bring in another youth prospect as it would have given them time to bed in ready for next season but if they ain’t available then not much we can do. The Anjorin thing seemed strange though, I mean if his agent/Dad really was at staplewood then you’d assume we’d have been at least close to some sort of agreement with Chelsea. Wonder if we were trying to make Broja permanent and flip the loan to Anjorin instead?
  17. Nah, there's not much apart from the goal he scored against Marseille. To be fair it was a pretty good goal though. Tend to agree with you - 17M for a player who has barely played first team football is a lot of cash but I expect fees for academy prospects are going to increase a fair bit over the next few years. I guess you have to take that figure with a pinch of salt - probably loads of add-ons that are included and it would only be exercised if he was a success.
  18. Nah, he could ghost in at the far post, go past players as if he wasn’t there, scare the life out of defenders. Modern game is ideal for the deceased.
  19. Good free kick on him.
  20. Yeah, the other thing you have to factor in is that it's much harder now to buy young but unproven players from abroad due to work permits. I saw an interview with Rasmus Ankerson when he was director at Brentford basically admitting they would no longer be able to pursue the model that had got them promoted (buy cheap unknown Scandinavians). That means you can either develop your own, buy established but expensive, or raid the big club academies with the promise of first team football. It's probably more important than ever for clubs like Saints to have a good reputation when it comes to developing and attracting younger players.
  21. The Athletic article was interesting. Apparently Rangnick compares him to De Bruyne which is a bit overly complimentary based on my YouTube research but he does look like he could cope in the prem. Other thing of note was the option to buy at 17M with buy back at 34M, if they agreed that with Locomotive then see no reason why they wouldn’t do it with another club.
  22. I think there are reasons why Chelsea might decide to sell. There's no guarantee Broja will develop into a world class top, top striker. I think we've all seen enough to know he's going to be a pretty good premier league player and personally I think he'll go higher than that but it's not a given. One of the ways he will progress is by playing regularly and Chelsea probably won't be able to give him that. Sure, they could send him out on loan again but it's not ideal for Broja to be constantly having to adapt to a new team every season. The player himself might indicate he feels moving is in his best interests and in that case clubs don't tend to keep players who want to move. In many ways Chelsea can't lose here - they could bring him back and make him a part of the first team but if they don't feel he's quite ready then they can sell and in all probability get a deal that means they could buy him back for a fraction of the money it would cost to get another player of his ability. Lets say we buy him for 25M and there's a buyback for 50M. Presumably that only gets exercised if they consider him to be a consistent first team player. It'll have cost them 25M and they get a nailed on starter. That's not much for a striker (at a top six club) these days. Keeping him at Chelsea as a bit part player might mean he never gets the opportunities to progress to that level. Probably won't happen but I don't think it's completely unrealistic.
  23. Yeah, that’s why I did it. Boring little fucker hasn’t bitten yet. yeah, both deals have the potential to be very good and both have their risks. I’m always a little sceptical about the motivation of players like Alli who will probably feel he should be at a club with more chance of winning something and competing at the top end of the table. Course he could go the other way and rejuvenate his career but just feel more comfortable with getting talented kids who might have a little more desire.
  24. Think I would prefer us to concentrate on Carvalho than Alli. Carvalho fits the profile we look for and seems like an exciting prospect. Lots of question marks over Alli although definitely a player when on form. Both are implausible though………
  25. I don’t think anyone was suggesting he definitely had, just that it was a possibility. Which is a fairly reasonable thing to speculate on.
