If our coaching staff have had a good look at Long and say he is okay then that should be good enough for us. FWIW he didn't look too bad when playing - sure, nowhere near Peretz, but not many Championship keepers are. I'd put him above Bazunu though as he managed to make some saves when he played and doesn't have spaghetti for fingers and crisp packets for wrists - leave Baz to putting the cones out.

Got to be worth a fiver! Same odds on Betfair as well, so clearly nobody in the country thinks we are worth backing. Siege mentality, We go again, Come on you reds!

60 games unbeaten in the league can be done! I know you shouldn't fall in love with a loan player, but it was impossible not to. Best shot stopper since Niemi, batshit crazy and the most suicidal runs out of his area since Tim Flowers - all reasons the fans love him. I was gutted when I thought we'd seen the last of him; I wasn't even believing the media noise about him returning - the most I hoped for was another season long loan. But a 4-year contract. Wow. Amazing stuff, and hopefully this is the first step of the club making it up to the fans. This signing has me buzzing for the new season. we go again. Bring it on!

Still better than Bazunu....

On the plus side, we could go over 60 league games without defeat.....

Search for Jobs - Logo No current job vacancies for a compliance officer though... maybe we thought we didn't need one!
-
I'm sure I read on here that we have not had a compliance officer since last year. No idea why the last one left - maybe they didn't think hiding behind trees was particularly compliant!

It certainly helps if you have someone with a vested interest on the EFL board fighting your corner with their mates....

What's the difference between an agreed decision, an approved decision, and a decision?

Because this is right up there with OJ Simpson....

I think half the problem is that for whatever reason, his teammates don't pass to him at the right time. Last night there were numerous occasions where he was in acres of space on the wing that a diagonal ball over the top or a quick through ball would have set him away, but that ball never comes. On the other side, Scienza regularly gets those balls delivered - usually by THB - and we get a lot of joy from it. Might be the lack of left footers, but it is frustrating to watch good runs missed. Usually by the time the ball is passed to him, it has arrived via a couple of other players which means his time and space are much reduced.
-
Fellows consistently made intelligent runs down the wing in plenty of space ready for a ball over the top that never came. It's like they didn't want to pass it to him. When THB actually delivered that ball Fellows was behind his man and a goal came from it. We need to be looking for that ball to the wings when there was so much space.

Not a record by some margin! Most red cards in a football match | Guinness World Records Amazing how many of the players managed to stay on their feet after contact though without rolling around on the floor - that probably is a record!

Ben Brereton on the scoresheet too

Southampton FC - Ross Stewart: 'I've loved my time here so far' - BBC Sounds From about 7 minutes talks about contract situation and is hoping for an extension.
-
No - it's something to do with it being a re-arranged Saturday 3pm kick off which is against the broadcasting rules. I don't get it either...
-
Just enjoy it while he is here. There was an interview with him on BBC Sounds and it sounds like he doesn't plan being here next season. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0myvv5y?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile

So nearly a mere decade since we've seen a league hattrick by one of our players......
-
According to a co-pilot search (so probably wrong), the last Saints player to score a hattrick was Rickie Lambert in 2012. We are definitely overdue one.....
-
Is there a reason why the kick off time is 12:31, and not 12:30?
-
No, 21 weren't penalties. It was 11 - I think 21 is every penalty for every club he has played for. Hi missed/had saved 3 pens. Goal Breakdown by Competition The following table reflects his total career statistics for Southampton across all formats: Competition Appearances Total Goals Penalty Goals EFL Championship 78 35 8 Premier League 73 6 1 FA Cup 10 1 0 EFL Cup 13 1 2 Total 174 43 11 (Data current as of 3 February 2026)

The transfer window has SLAMMED shut

They dug out an excel spreadsheet from 2022 and looked at it!

Am I the only one that really can't be bothered with the match later? Watch the Traitors on BBC, or the cowards on Sky Sports. Hmm..... Only one is likely to provide entertainment.
