Chalk that off, adkins just turned up in the dugout. Saints have carved out a couple of chances but keeper hasnt had to make a save. Guly looking better behind Lambert. De ridder about to come on.
-
Doesnt appear to be here at all. But then neither does adkins... Dean wilkins running the show. Dc off for forte, guly just behind Lambert in the formation change. Sent from my seat

Started 4-4-2, looking solid but not spectacular. The side in general lacks a bit of pace. Cork looks gd along with Morgan, but we lack a little balance with guly coming off the line more often than not. Not to say guly is having a bad game, just that the side is affected. Seabourne untroubled and his distribution looks ok today. Saints went one up on half time, well worked free kick finished by connolly when everyone assumed ricky would shoot. Finally some sanity. As far as I know this is all of it. The rest is conjecture, and turned into a shambles by the over zealous members of this board! FWIW I think Adkins will be confirmed tomorrow, a club statement will be issued saying he was the only one officially offered the job and that any other information was incorrect. The statement will also end "fans are urged to ignore speculation and any information regarding the future of the club will be found first at www.saintsfc.co.uk"

Posted on their website around 10am this morning, lots happened since then. Not least his very own Press conference.
-
My god.... So we hear this morning Adkins has been approached about the job, then the chairman releases a statement saying hte offer is withdrawn and mayhem ensues. Sky (who reported we had approached Paul Hart) and the BBC release articles based on the Scunny chairmans statement, only hang on, the offer was never withdrawn. Saints tell us that, it is then confirmed by Adkins himself in a press conference. A few hours later a similar thing happens, and the Bmouth chairman comes out with a load of stuff, Sky report it, BBC reports it. Having incorrectly reported earlier in the day we believe.... SKY AND THE BBC?!?!? WHY? Here is what I know: Nothing. The same as the press. The same as everyone else on this board. We line up a host of managers, interview them all, and have 2-3 options. We will only know who the manager is when it is released on the saints website! As we have been told numerous times before - we may not like it but it seems its the way of saints now.

If its based on the European system, usually a "DOF" (or development officer), a couple of Scouts, the CEO and the first team manager. I know of two clubs in europe where this is definitely the case.
-
Pards was traditional. Im surpised he was employed in the first place. However I would say with the squad he (or the committee? or Reed?) had assembled was performing averagely - that being with the side we have we should beat most teams and we did.
-
This system of committee works in Europe. In places such as Lyon, where it creates continuity... managers come and go but the strength is in the committee. That way, Lyon were able to be promoted from the lower leagues and make their way in to the CL in a remarkably short space of time. Whether it would work here or not is another matter, but its clearly a model that can be followed with the right staff.

No apparent reason. There is one, we just dont know about it.

Its a tough one to call and the truth is we only have speculation and rumours. Nobody on here knows and that frustrates the hell out of us. This time just over a year ago I had almost accepted that the team I supported was going out of business, disappearing into the history books. That meant I lost not only my football club but my love of football altogether as I couldnt have supported anyone else. It doesnt excuse some of the questionable decisions made by Cortese, but right now its a **** site better than the gun barrel we were facing.

Who should we get in as Lambert's back up?

I wonder whether we will sign a Lambert type player, and then have lambert playing a deeper role. Thats where he used to play at Brizzle. -
Markus Liebherr RIP. All tributes here please.

RIP Markus. Thanks for everything. Thoughts with your family. -
I dont agree with the ban and think it will cause us strife. HOWEVER, at least there is a statement on the saints website regarding it - something lacking on other issues. Hopefully, this will set a precedent and whether people agree with the ideas or not we will feel more involved.
-
As Pards has said previously, our "tactic" in the transfer market is to wait until there is movement. When you see the three players leaving Middlesborough, or Man United loaning out their young striker to blackburn etc etc. These types of moves will result in players becoming available either to buy, or to loan. Given the squad we already have, I would rather wait until the last day and secure 2-3 great signings than get 2-3 ok ish ones now. As I see it, that is exactly the way we should be working.

I really dont know what to make of anything Cortese related anymore. Im torn between not caring as long as we win the league, figuring out what is speculation and what is not, and being perplexed by the nitpicking that apparently occurs. Then I read this: "I met the former banker last year and found him to be considered, intelligent and calm. But it's fair to say he's also unaccustomed to failure". from the BBC pundit Paul Fletcher. He sounds brilliant from that comment. As many have said, BRING ON THE FOOTBALL.

:-) We know the followin: He has never played in England. He is not ginger. He is not under 30. He looks good on youtube. He has only represented his country at U21 level. He currently plays for a second tier side. Did I miss anything? If we had a country he was playing in and a nationality I reckon we would get there. -

Ok, has he ever been contracted to a club in England? Im guessing he has "played" over here in a European competition. -

Yes or no questions. He is playing abroad now..... Has he ever played in england? -
Wont they be making money from people parking there for other reasons? Non football related reasons I mean?
-
At am I talking about... This became a cortese thread already..... On topic, if it's exciting and positive then I wait with an excitable child like anticipation!!
-
You can have respect through fear. It's not the best type but it can work. Cortese has a style. Most won't like it, if it works for saintsfc I don't care.
-
Is Cortese deliberately trying to annoy the fans.

This is what I was trying to say, but didnt quite word it correctly.
