They've got a good spine, Barry and Lukaku being integral to that. Of the players you mention only felliani and the manager I would suggest could be considered a big loss. Also I'm not sure they would spend big, kenwright constantly talks of staying within budget and one season in the champions league might not change his view

Are we just accepting shaw will leave in summer?

It's the same way they always play it though - based on the fact very few players stay at one club an entire career eventually you'll get the "I told you so" and "another exclusive" comments. The same will be done to the manager. Re Shaw I'm inclined to agree with you there are advantages to him staying a year or two longer. All the "big" contenders rotate so he'd be looking at playing two thirds of the time max. -
Yes but how many teams have we beaten in the top 10?
-
It's priceless isn't it? The only thing I wanna see though is the bestest admitting it wasn't worth it. That's the only thing missing for me

I see your point. For me it is about SQUAD and ability RIGHT NOW. Group 1 Lallana, Lovren, Morgan, maybe JRod, Shaw for me would compete in the top six squads. Group 2 Wanyama, Clyne, Chambers, Boruc, would compete in a top 10 squad. Group 3 Lambert, Davis, Ramirez, JWP, Gallagher, Cork, Yoshida are bottom half. Hooiveld probably not to standard. That is only 17 players, which is lower than the would be required for a premier league squad. To me that balances out to say we are where we should be if not a little higher than I would expect. We would need a minimum of 8 in that top group, and probably another 8 in the second group to be looking at top 6. Leaving about 4 in the bottom half group 3. Sounds complicated reading it back but I know what I mean!

You're just quite odd. There's no way you can't understand the point people are making so spend your time pretending not to?

So do you mean the forum here? The pundits who rave about our set up, entertainment, manager, youth? Or the club's who are sniffing about our players? They are all wrong to be positive about saints?

Welcome to the match thread

Until we beat everyone it's simply not good enough!

It's a high risk strategy and the way we play, creates space all over the pitch. If the opposition press they commit 4 players forward who are out of the game. What we did less yesterday when we were pressed was simply go back to boruc to go long... perhaps because of his assumed injury. If we go long and straight direct from goal kicks they will almost certainly win the first ball, meaning a battle for the second ball. It's about possession football and overall is easier on the eye and more effective than the alternative

Mopo "We are targeting the Europa League"
Bwanamakubwa replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
I'm disappointed every time we lose, but there aren't multiple threads on it. So why this one? And why talk about being 3 games from Europa league? -

The arrogance of some saints fans, like we were guaranteed to win the fa cup if we'd beaten Sunderland. -
Abject

Yet when I came on here 20 mins late, you'd think we were at least two down! Jesus.....

Currently Hong Kong, but off to live in Jamaica in the next month. Time zone more palatable for evening games
-
Also he's from Ecuador and still considered a legend for getting them to the world cup. Thinking about it now, I don't blame him. Once in a lifetime chance to represent your country at the world cup (still taking saints money) or play for saints.

I do wander who fat Sam would play if/when Carroll was fit? Would he play both?
-
Do you class everything you read as fact? Lambert won't be going without better replacement
-
Lambert may lack the pace to stretch a defence, but he gives us real shape and intelligence. Thought j rod up top in both Burnley and particularly Chelsea showed what we miss when Lambert isn't about. If Lambert goes it would leave us with osvaldo for me as the only front line striker. Just can't see that happening before we bring in a replacement who has established themselves
-
Not too sure about that. A recently deceased Sunday paper would regularly make snippet rumours up. I know because I used to sit in a London pub doing it with him and bingo, there it is word for word on the Sunday

That he drinks tea? Or mate as south Americans call it?
