If we don't make the playoffs and anyone dares diss Mr Pardew...
Hamilton Saint replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Saints
What a difference a year makes! For the last few years ( until the second half of this season), I would hope for a win, but expect a loss - even after we scored first. Now I expect to win - even when we are scored against first! That's quite a change in expectation, and mostly thanks to AP and his astute rebuilding of this team. -
Here we call it a minority government. Sounds more positive than a "hung parliament". A minority government can be very effective. The parties are forced to work together and that reduces some of the usual partisan nonsense. It also stops a government from forcing through legislation that a majority of the country doesn't agree with.

Unlikely.

Precisely. This is one of my pet peeves with journalistic style. Many newspapers tell their reporters to make every sentence its own paragraph. I presume they believe it makes the article easier to read - but, as benjii points out, it actually makes it harder. Grouping sentences into paragraphs makes the writing easier to read, not harder.

I'm wondering if your contempt extends itself to my friend in Wimbledon? His parents still live in Woolston, where he grew up; so he's back in So'ton regularly. We went to St. Mary's College together in the sixties. We get together for every game (Saturdays and mid-week) via the internet on Saints Player and email back-and-forth. We still have a passion for the Saints after all these years. Incredible, eh? Is he a "zero" too? BTW, I stopped getting the Pink in the late sixties; but I do remember fondly going down to my local newsagent's in Hythe every Saturday evening in the early sixties to get details about that week's game. [Were you supporting Saints back in 1962?] I could only go to a few games a season back then, cos I lived in Hythe and was just a nipper. Was I a "zero" even back then? Jeez, I never knew!

GP and Grievous Angel, two brilliant albums from Gram Parsons - released in 1973 and 1974 - and now available together on one CD. Emmylou Harris is featured on both LPs.

Yeah, but what a distinctive voice that reporter has!

Big Ron's 4 Goals At OT, Can Anyone Help?

How about remembering live footy on the telly without the facility to show replays and without a permanent display in the corner of the screen showing how much time has expired and what the score is? -
COYO!

Just make sure they can spell!

Don't put words in my mouth, or misrepresent my view - I didn't say discrimination against another national group was OK. I wasn't condoning prejudice and bigotry. I was merely criticising the incorrect use of the term "racism".
-
Think about it. Racism has to be antagonism or discrimination against another race. If a caucasian Englishman discriminates against a caucasian American, that is not racism - regardless of what the RRA says.
-
Sorry to nit-pick, but being anti-American is not being "racist"; there's no such race as "American". Anti-Americanism is a form of bigotry not based on race.

1. Green 2. Lib Dem 3. Labour 4. Conservative No surprises there.

I do believe that AP has made it clear this season that his philosophy is to field the best team he can for every game, regardless of whether it's a cup game or league game. Based on the idea that it's better to keep the momentum going - to build that "winning mentality", than to damage it by slacking off for a cup game.
-
You can get the Cracovia Krakow vs Jagiellonia Bialystok game, or the GKS Belchatow vs Odra Wodzislaw Slaski game, but you can't find Brighton vs. Saints. Go figure!

... I've watched Saints play a cup final via the internet. Watched the Cardiff FA Cup Final on TV. Listened to the '76 Cup Final on the radio.

Awesome! Surely this vindicates Pardew's commitment to winning all games - cup ties as well as league games, I mean. -
Anyone with a stream for us overseas fans?

Thanks for the link. It was very jumpy and irritating to watch - but better than nothing, of course! :smt038
