Shame people still can't spell his name correctly, even having read an article where his name is mentioned and spelled out.

One word, "Bernie"

********, doing this in Hospitality for my cousin coming over from Oz, now that fecks up the day, due to early start. Will also spoil the atmosphere because there will be less people at the game. Why can't Sky just feck off and leave football alone?

I think I resemble that remark LOL Althouh I don't live there now, dismissing the IOW is a bit rich. Not many people from the mainland have to catch a ferry to get to the home games (sorry to those in Hythe). Back in the 60s/70s the IW Branch of the Saints Supporters Club was a sizeable number of people. There are still a lot of people on the Red Jets when I do occassionally travel over from home. Thing is also that for many years we were the only Div 1 /Prem League Club in the south (outside London) and over that time we established a large supporter base of people willing to travel 50-60 miles regularly down to Southampton. Our catchment area really does extend well into Wiltshire, even the north of the County because it really is a relatively easy journey to make by car or train.

"Liverpool", not West Brom You'll find it scans better it was always Liverpool in the 60s/70s (used to add "and West Ham" after Liverpool too). Forest were one of our bogey team for years and years, we have plenty of history with them, 2 Wembley finals, never forgiven them. Still, thought it would be Sven first before McClaren, just shows that some of these managers really don't know the game outside of the Premier League.

Saints V Watford.4- 0. Post match chat!!
VectisSaint replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Peach was penalty king long before Le Tiss. -
Quite amused by the fact that the advert comes up on the Saints OS, wonder if NC is aware that he is helping to sell Franny's house, or if Franny is aware of the gesture by SFC.

Was looking for a student pad for my daughter now she's at Uni, may be worth considering

Might have expected a sense of humour failure type comment from you. Go jump on a mantelpiece. -

Shhh! You are not allowed to make any negative comment about a legend. Cortese lover. By the way fitness testing at Solent, not Southampton Uni -
You mean other than the interviews with NA on the Beeb and on Solent? No, nothing factual.

Think you are being very selective on the replies, and also misreading. The post does not bash NC, it bashes the "NC can do no wrong brigade", i.e. a very small number of posters who other even smaller in number posters mistakenly believe the CEO is above reproach.

Win FA Cup or 4th Placed Premiership Finish...?
VectisSaint replied to GazzerMaBoy's topic in The Saints
Cup every time. I prefer to win things, not come 4th. Thats why last season was ultimately a slight disappointment (bit not too much). No-one remembers who came 4th or even 3rd. -
As far as I know Jesus (assuming he existed) did not speak English. So if you want to attribute the quote correctly the best you can say it was by the person who translated the Bible (whether that was the Venerable Bede or John Wycliff is open to debate).

David Chell joins Saints as chief commercial officer
VectisSaint replied to Sevvy's topic in The Saints
Surely this is a replacement for the guy who used to be connected with UEFA (don't remember his name), not Luker who ran the ticket office. They were very different roles. -

Think it will always be Mick Channon for me. -
Strictly speaking they don't even need to be in the squad to play in a friendly, we could give a run out to a triallist or an out of contract player. They could play me if they wanted, though I suspect they would not be that desparate.

Shilts would be a better bet, not many keepers score against us from their own penalty area.
-
And those that were "goaded" by a footballer responding to abusive behaviour in the most appropriate way that he can by scoring a goal possibly should consider who has the moral high ground.

You missed the point though. I agree there have been threads in the past, but very little was being said yesterday until Stelling poked his nose in where he should not have done. There are a lot of people who have read things that were not written or even quoted by NC, but because it mentions an idol (of some) think they know what was said and what was meant. Stelling should wind his neck in, and all should see that there is right on both sides. In the end what we all want is what is best for the Football Club, and if that upsets someone who some people consider to be a demigod then **** them. Past players and managers are a very important part of our past, our history, but some people who some folks idolise (including me with LM to some extent) need to realise that great managers and great players can also be cocks. I don't idolise MLT, I am too old for that, he was a great player, but thats all. NC has never as far as I can see accused MLT of looking for freebies, but Stelling seems to think he has, and others here seem to think the same. Personally I couldn't give a toss, all I am interested in is that Saints are successful, if some cannot embrace that and want to have a petty squabble then in my mind they can feck off. It won't make me think any less of them for their contribution to our past, but it will make me think less of them if they try to screw things up just when we are getting back on track. No-one has a right to freebies, on the other hand when people are gracious and supportive they should be and will be treated with the respect they deserve. The one thing I cannot stand is that someone who has no connection to the club has abused his position as a national celebrity/broadcaster to attack my Club. I like Jeff Stelling, but in this case his involvement was completely uncalled for and demonstrates a complete lack of prefessionalism. I hope Sky discipline him for his remarks (but don't sack him), but suspect that like all of Murdoch's empire they will not because they are all corrupt and would not understand morality.

Interesting really that this whole argument amongst (a very small number of) supporters is about NC and MLT. Arguably NC's comments were aimed more at Lawrie Mac, than MLT, certainly the freebies part. I suspect if MLT had not been mentioned there would be little argument. Stellings unwelcome intervention made things worse. Yet for some of us, perhaps those slightly older, Lawrie is as much of a hero if not more than Matt. In the end though I think Lawrie is his own worst enemy, and though I will always consider him as a genius, I would never put him above the Club. For me it is Southampton first and foremost - heroes are important (Mick Channon & Ron Davies for me), but it is Saints I support, not individuals.
-
Anyone know who Luke's old man supports? As long as he isn't a Skate we will probably be OK.
-
But this is the point, the comments by NC were not directed at MLT anyway, it was a general comment about all sorts of people expecting freebies, perhaps directed at Lawrie Mac. As you say MLT never expected freebies, but was denied extra tickets for his mates in the same way everyone else was. This whole spat has really only grown legs because Stelling poked his nose in where it was not needed.

Has to be one of the most stupid comments ever made on here, and boy have there been some. Hope you are joking otherwise think you are in a minority of slightly less than one. I thought this forum was for supporters of Southampton Football Club, not a fan club for teenyboppers.
