Bit of a pain not being able to get tickets up here. Will be on sale on Tuesday for away supporters (anyone know from what time?). Saints Ticket Office today said there should be plenty left as they are not shifting at the moment, hopefully there will be plenty available on Tuesday otherwise 5 of us won't be going.

So he could the Marian Pahars of League 1, since MIchael Owen was the English Marian Pahars

Apparently we aren't allowed to make this joke any longer, the humour police do not consider it fair game any longer.

Makes sod all difference to teams that are already out of the League Cup, such as QPR, Norwich, Swansea, West Ham, Sunderland etc etc, i.e. the type of teams who might be interested in taking a risk with him

Unfortunately blind stats hide the interesting background. Not all teams promoted from League 1 in the last 17 years are equal. A small number, including us, Norwich and Leeds, probably couple of others, are long term Div1/Prem Lge clubs that fell on hard/bad times and are rebuidling based on a stronger infrastructure than others. Not saying we will be promoted this year, but more likely than some other promoted from L1 who were maybe relatively small clubs over-achieving

Excellent, a nice evening out in town after work.

Suspect Holmes is getting outing for match fitness, hasn't had much opportunity to play yet since impressing in pre-season. Doubt he is on his way out. Dickson maybe off, but with Mills now gone to Reading suspect Dickson may also be getting match time. Puncheon though, just keeping him fit so that he is ready for some mug team to take him off our hands.

I expect the tide is out. When the tide is out in Weston it really is out, a long long way. Also being evening it probably is quiet on Weston front. It may also be Quiet on the Western Front.

If ever there was a person that Twitter was named for it has to be this man. Although I suppose if they had called it ****ter instead it may have been more appropriate. The guy is a total ****head. FACT.

What is the saying about statistics? There are lies, damn lies and Charle Wayman's posts

That Jack Cork, what a waste of space. And only another 10 days to go before the xfer window closes, and then the loan window opens. Still Mr Hoddle would have done things so differently, wouldn't he, his career really blossomed after he left us didn't it, just goes to show the monley and organ grinder saying is so true, Hoddle without Gorman, like Morecambe without Wise. I looked in the paper today and they reckon we are top of the league, but I know different now after reading what dalek and charlie are writing we must be bottom.

Did I miss the Millwall goals? Fortunately we have a strong squad that when one or two are finding it tough we can bring on more than adequate replacements. We also have a week off now, whereas many other teams have a game midweek. See your lot lost yesterday though, Mr Wenger must be disappointed. Perhaps he should try playing his new 15mill signing.

Good idea, lets model ourselves on the police force of the USA. They really know how to do things right.

Including SFC Steward Slapping a Fan (Video of Post-Match)
VectisSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Probably the least embarrassing thing on this video is the steward slapping her brother in law (if indeed that was what we witnessed). -
True, that would explain our 4 straight losses so far this season with Martin/Seaborne playing.

Its a funny thing, but I was reading the Burnley bit about their new striker Zavon Hines, who is probably being brought in because Rodriguez is on his way out, and I couldn't help thinking that this Hines guy (who I know nothing about) would probably have been a better proposition for us right now that Jay Rodriguez. He has pace, is hungry to play and he is a damn sight cheaper than Rodrigues. Yet one has had a single half-decent season in this division and one hasn't. Given we already have a decent strike force what we need is someone who can be gradually brought in and is ready to play when we have a crisis. At the moment, there is no way that NA would drop either RL or DC, so whoever comes in will not get a sniff of first team action for a while. WE deffo do need another striker, but it seems silly shelling out multi-millions when what we need is a young, hungry pacy striker who would be happy to develop and be ready when we get to the PL. Maybe that was the thinking with Forte but I just get the feeling he is not going to develop much beyond where he currently is. We also definitely need a new CB, have said it all along, thats not a slight on Martin or Seaborne, but Jaidi is probably not going to last beyond this season, and already we are seeing that he is not available due to injury. Beyond that I think we would be foolish to bring anyone else in, we have strength in depth in every other position.

Adkins wins L.M.A performance of the week
VectisSaint replied to Under Weststand's topic in The Saints
Just shows that being a physio and a player makes for a better manager than being just a (ugly Uruguayan) player -
9 league goals, 9 league points, 9 league wins in a row. The number 9 is good for us at the moment.

I think your memory is playing tricks on you, was there really anyone (other than Lowe) that thought such a thing?

Can't blame them really, 5.5m for a largely unproven Division 2 striker is total madness, in my humble opinion. But not so mad when we have just received 12-15m for a largly unproven Division 3 17 year old. The world has gone mad.

£4m swoop for Burnley duo Rodriguez and Fox?
VectisSaint replied to modern matron's topic in The Saints
4.5mill seems a hell of a lot to pay for a striker who has had one decent season in the Championship. Almost as stupid as 15m for a winger with one decent season in the 3rd division. -
SFC Youth Academy - currently active professional players

What happened to the Russian (or was he Ukrainian) kid that was here, but who we couldn't get a work permit for? Because I can't remember his name I can't Google it, was it Periplotkin or something? Whatever happened to him, he was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread (or at least since Mick Channon) -
Would a big signing prompt you to attend saturday??
VectisSaint replied to CFSFC's topic in The Saints
Bloody hell, 2 men and a dog, luxury. Blackburn in 74/75 I don't recall seeing another Saints supporter at all (I was working in Oldham so went to the game). No signing will make me go on Saturday, even if it was Messi. Will be at Cropredy to see Horslips, been waiting 37 years to see them again. -
Carling Cup 2nd Round - Bristol City / Swindon Away
VectisSaint replied to jim_bergerac's topic in The Saints
Nice draw, specially if Swindon win, can walk to the game from work. According to BBC web site BC v Swindon is on 24 August, the day after we are due to play the winners. Interesting idea. Perhaps we will play each for 45 minutes :-) -
Is Sergio Tevez any good? Hope he's not homesick like his namesake.
