  1. Even better if you know the words to our own song. How about "Where's your stadium gone?" (the tune of Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep for those old enough to remember the crap song) (last line "gone with Seb Coe") I'll get me coat, scarf and gloves and beat a hasty retreat, making up football songs is really a bit sad.
  2. They will be asked to leave the bus at the next request stop. Nothing wrong with the idea, the prospect of players commuting more than 30 miles a day for training is patently ridiculous, commuting is not good for athletes. 30 miles radius is perfectly adequate, only problem we have is much of the area within 30 miles is under water. Still a daily commute from Ventnor would be an interesting prospect for a player with his own decent fast boat.
  3. Used to go to Fratton Park in the 70s, heard it was now a rubbish tip, do they have a new ground? Does Church Litten and St Georges Park count? Seriously Elm Park/Madjeski and old/new Wembley, not forgetting The Dell/SMS. Before anyone suggests it The Antelope was just a bit before my time.
  4. And all that without the previous generation, Shearer, Le Tiss, Wallaces and so on. Oaks is now at Exeter of course, tend to think of him as previous generation, not the same setup as Cranie, Mills, Bale and so on. Also ignores some of the other young talent that was not strictly in the Academy such as Kenwyne Jones. Still we all know Wenger is the master at spotting talented youngsters, not Southampton, so this must be all a load of made-up nonsense.
  5. But many of us thought it was good stuff then and still do, only the dinos like Arry & Jim & Bertie Bassett thought it was a bad idea. Lowe didn't do much right in my view, but some of his ideas made sense, shame he didn't have a clue how to implement them successfully.
  6. Actually 2 1/4 hours. So as it doesn't bother you why post, if you don't like my comment just feck off and mind your own business. For those of use who don't live in town it makes a great deal of difference.
  7. Shame people still can't spell his name correctly, even having read an article where his name is mentioned and spelled out.
  8. One word, "Bernie"
  9. ********, doing this in Hospitality for my cousin coming over from Oz, now that fecks up the day, due to early start. Will also spoil the atmosphere because there will be less people at the game. Why can't Sky just feck off and leave football alone?
  10. I think I resemble that remark LOL Althouh I don't live there now, dismissing the IOW is a bit rich. Not many people from the mainland have to catch a ferry to get to the home games (sorry to those in Hythe). Back in the 60s/70s the IW Branch of the Saints Supporters Club was a sizeable number of people. There are still a lot of people on the Red Jets when I do occassionally travel over from home. Thing is also that for many years we were the only Div 1 /Prem League Club in the south (outside London) and over that time we established a large supporter base of people willing to travel 50-60 miles regularly down to Southampton. Our catchment area really does extend well into Wiltshire, even the north of the County because it really is a relatively easy journey to make by car or train.
  11. "Liverpool", not West Brom You'll find it scans better it was always Liverpool in the 60s/70s (used to add "and West Ham" after Liverpool too). Forest were one of our bogey team for years and years, we have plenty of history with them, 2 Wembley finals, never forgiven them. Still, thought it would be Sven first before McClaren, just shows that some of these managers really don't know the game outside of the Premier League.
  12. What's happened to Button and Hamilton?
  13. Peach was penalty king long before Le Tiss.
  14. Quite amused by the fact that the advert comes up on the Saints OS, wonder if NC is aware that he is helping to sell Franny's house, or if Franny is aware of the gesture by SFC.
  15. Was looking for a student pad for my daughter now she's at Uni, may be worth considering
  16. Might have expected a sense of humour failure type comment from you. Go jump on a mantelpiece.
  17. Shhh! You are not allowed to make any negative comment about a legend. Cortese lover. By the way fitness testing at Solent, not Southampton Uni
  18. You mean other than the interviews with NA on the Beeb and on Solent? No, nothing factual.
  19. Think you are being very selective on the replies, and also misreading. The post does not bash NC, it bashes the "NC can do no wrong brigade", i.e. a very small number of posters who other even smaller in number posters mistakenly believe the CEO is above reproach.
  20. Cup every time. I prefer to win things, not come 4th. Thats why last season was ultimately a slight disappointment (bit not too much). No-one remembers who came 4th or even 3rd.
  21. As far as I know Jesus (assuming he existed) did not speak English. So if you want to attribute the quote correctly the best you can say it was by the person who translated the Bible (whether that was the Venerable Bede or John Wycliff is open to debate).
  22. Surely this is a replacement for the guy who used to be connected with UEFA (don't remember his name), not Luker who ran the ticket office. They were very different roles.
  23. Think it will always be Mick Channon for me.
  24. Strictly speaking they don't even need to be in the squad to play in a friendly, we could give a run out to a triallist or an out of contract player. They could play me if they wanted, though I suspect they would not be that desparate.
  25. Shilts would be a better bet, not many keepers score against us from their own penalty area.
