My tongue in cheek comment was more than this is highly unlikely to have anything to do with what league we're in.

I agree. But where do we draw the line? We all leave jobs for better paid ones and unless the original one was minimum wage then you're open to the same crititism. Once you've set yourself up for life of luxury, why not make sure your kids are set, then your grandchildren are set etc. The career of a footballer is a very short one and even though he could probably "survive" for life on what he made in his first 2-3 years, why not make sure you have as much as possible? You also have to bear in mind that when he was 12, he was discarded by our club like an empty crisp bag in not a particularly nice way and given no aftercare what so ever (and I know that for a fact). I'll always wish players that leave us well as long as it's done in the right way.

Sad thing is, from the top of the PL to the bottom of the Sunday League, that's the norm these days. If it turned out that every club had one training session a week dedicated to diving, time wasting and generally conning the referee, I wouldn't be remotely surprised.
