  1. love the message from Jenny in Fareham at the bottom of the page http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1223436/Pay-Pompey-Basement-club-Portsmouth-hit-Premier-League-transfer-ban.html Saints are bigger gates than us whilst being 3rd from bottom in League 1, this angers and upsets me. Perhaps if we sold out Fratton, creditors might see a club worth saving - Jenny, Fareham, 28/10/2009 14:25 but clearly Skates are a bigger club than us!!!? hillarious
  2. Do you watch Dragons Den?
  3. I would expect a crowd of over 21,000 for Saturday possibly 22,000. I guess we will have sold over 17,000 by the end of today, there is still Thursday and Friday sales left and of course Saturday walk up. So should be biggest crowd this season.
  4. I was there, was certainly not involved. I can confirm Yeovil fans started the trouble (verbally and physically) and were told on several ocassions by home supporters and police to walk away. Not saying it is on, but that very grown man who was 38 and took a kicking smacked a Saints fan first. I was there walking up Northam Road and saw it with my very own eyes. This doesn't excuse people to kick him in the head, but he was the main culprit. Therefore, it would be injustice to willy nilly hand out banning orders or jail sentences for this crime against Yeovil alone. If I was to act in that manner (not saying the retaliation is right), but I would expect others whether pub, football, cricket whatever to react. He punched a saints fan in the face walking up the road FFS. Anyway, not getting involved in this. I'm out.
  5. Not disputing what you say, but the more vocal and anti social behaviour would come from blocks 1-3 only if the Itchen North was open. By closing 1-3 you now have more anti social behaviour closer to the seats reserved for staff/familes etc. It all makes perfect sense to open 1-3 ;-)
  6. Nickh 2009 I would totally agree with you. Promotion push year, totally different story.
  7. Derry, I don't often slate people on forums, I like to keep it purely to discussing football, but mate, get back in your f*cking cave! I am intelligent enough to understand if I have young kids around me, then I curb the language, but sit in the family stand if you don't like bad language.
  8. So David Luker, if you read this forum. Can we have an official comment or statement from the club please? What is the latest stance on re-opening the Itchen North? Do you believe that the cost to police it outweighs the benefits of the noise and atmosphere it creates? Are we going to have a silence like the Rupert Lowe days or are the club going to communicate with the fans on this situation. I thought we were going to have full transparency on these things now moving forward? Can you please speak out? We want the Itchen North Corner back!
  9. very weak defence other than Bridge, Higgy might be ok, but only ok.
  10. point taken, but Northam is not as good a view as Itchen North. People also get fed up with the stand up sit down, if you hate pompey, love the saints etc.... Can't wait to pull one off when they open the Itchen. Maybe we can pay for the so called extra police costs by the club having an open all areas 'pull one off in the stands day'......big screens showing some filthy Dutch porn, £20 a tug......ok maybe not.
  11. Jonny, encouraging mail that people are prepared to voice their opinion on this. We must hear a statement from the club first, before deciding what to do about it. I am not sure everyone will pay an extra £5 but at least people are coming up with ideas. It would be good to get some reciprical feedback from teh new regime on where this is going. We need to understand the bare facts and they need to listen to the supporters. We want our Itchen back!!
  12. ...Will, i'm not talking about the view. If my opinion was based purely on view I would sit in the centre of the Itchen or Kingsland stands and not moan. It's the overal experience and ultimatley atmosphere which reflects on the players on the pitch.
  13. Will, low blow. Don't insult my intelligence, just stick to saying that we have a difference in opinion. I understand it costs money and it is difficult to quantify the return in terms of league points and success on the pitch, but IMO away teams can take more points from the home side if supporters are subdued.
  14. The simple reality is when teams bring 2,500 + travelling fans with them this season, we will be outsung and it will seem like a home match to them What chance have we go of outsinging Leeds with the Itchen North closed this season? The answer is ZERO We are seriously giving away points.
  15. Fully agree Docker P. The Itchen North Corner must be re-opened. We are getting 20,000 every week and the company now has no debt. There is no excuse. Why deprice fans from where they want to sit and the ground from a decent atmosphere. I would buy a season ticket again if they re-open the Itchen North Corner. Call me what you will, but I usually go to as many games as I can make and had been a season ticket holder for 14 years, but I am not impressed when the club take away your right to where you want to sit. RE-OPEN BLOCKS 1-2&3 NOW!
  16. Dell Days, you are right - the atmosphere is pretty quiet, but was it really before they shut the Itchen Corner? we had a ground to be proud of atmosphere wise when two ends pretty full were vocally getting behind the team. The atmosphere now is sterile to say the least
  17. To be frank I think this is a situation where the club haven't been open and honest with us from day 1. I have on several occasions gone to get a ticket on match day to be told Itchen North Corner is sold out, only to go in the Kingsland and see loads of empty seats in that very corner. The club have messed up here. IMO the ground generated a much better atmosphere the season before the itchen corner 1, 2 & 3 was closed. People want to be next to the away supporters for the banter and to drown them out singing wise. I remember the game against Bristol City, the year they were really gunning for promotion and we had to win desperately...we drowned them out with noise from both Northam and Itchen stands and I believe this to be a massive factor in us winning the game. The logistics of the seats on offer now don't give us the opportunity to do this....we didn't drown out Bristol Rovers did we!!? why I wonder? Just look at our results at home since we have closed the corner....I am not saying this is entirely to blame but i'm afraid St Marys is so much quiter now these days. I have since given up my season ticket the year the corner was closed and I know quite a few others that have too. Decisions bening made by the high all mighty people that don't understand the true value of the 12th man supporter. Rant over..........
  18. I take my 6 year old he is also called Matthew and I have a 2 year old called Marian, she will go when she is ready
  19. 'against human rights'...it's for their own protection!!
  20. believe me they are a lost cause
  21. not Saints related BUT get in!!
  22. i think the police should be armed with teethless dogs. Those dogs have an unfair advantage....mind you, when filming scenes for football violence films, dogs IMO should be equiped with a full set of razor sharp teeth and metal braces (when Skates are involved). http://www.pr-inside.com/the-firm-extra-lost-finger-in-r1489680.htm apparently the extra was a skate LOL
  23. As I walked outside the ground by the KA I saw around 8 Yeovil fans gesturing and shouting obscenities at the Saints fans from outside the pub. They were being very abusive. When the police turned up(only 2 or 3) by that time the fans outside the pub were raged. I then walked on up Northam Road and I saw one Yeovil fan punch a small Saints fan and at this point the Yeovil fan was jumped and kicked to the ground. Other fans then jumped on his head despite the fact he looked out cold...disgusting. More police then turned up and proceeded to arrest the small Saints fan, despite the fact he was the one who had been punched. I guess something had gone on in the pub before. I thought the KA was a home fans only pub?
  24. McCann & Pele = separated at birth ;-)
  25. we wouldn't get a work permit for him ;-) besides, do we know for sure that Pardew has been permitted to sign both a CB and another player? I think it is more likely to be a loan
