Why do some people go to the game?
Give it to Ron replied to georgeweahscousin's topic in The Saints
Was a bloke in the loo that reckoned we didn't play well first half....totally baffled us and he got a few short answers back. -
After 8 games, what are your thoughts...
Give it to Ron replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
The jury is still out for me...QPR destroyed a lot of my confidence in Pochettino, terrible tactics and never addressed what was so obvious. I do think we have improved some players like Morgan gets forward far more and we are more progressive rather than backwards and sideways under Nige. The timing still wrankles and the lack of respect in the programme etc. I was told by a very good source Nige knew 5-6 weeks before it happened that he was out and it was going to be an Italian manager. The question earlier from Turkish about when did you realise Nige...Fulham at home when he took off Lambert and didnt learn from his mistake aganst Man Utd...also confirmed at Fulham away they were abysmal our tactics were terrible and we got a lucky draw when it was a game we should of won. -
Bloody hell have you watched Sunderland? Have a look at their next 4 or 5 games....a bit of a jellyfish aren't you.

Saints 3 Liverpool 1 - Post Match Reactions
Give it to Ron replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Spot on Bexy thats exactly how I saw it - Liverpool were winning midfield for about 10 minutes and Gerrard was running it for a bit - Davis was very good when he came on - kept it ticking over, kept the ball and always available. -
Just saw Ricky at Baddesley lights he seemed to be heading towards town direction.
-
Would you trust our transfer committe with £6m....I wouldn't trust them to cross the road on their own.
-
How many times have you seen Butland play? I have a few times now and he is worse than Gazza!

Stick some WD40 in the lock and around the handle
-
Did you see the way we came out second half after half-time? It was like we were just going to walk it and QPR would lie down Rubbish tactics, JWP a holding midfielder when 1-2 down why not Davis who has looked decent lately? Jay Rods pace against Hill and Samba yet he stays out wide left...why not start him against 2 of the slowest defenders in the Prem...shocking day at the office for the manager and his team of assistants.

MPs "pushing up" tactics - are they easy to counter ?
Give it to Ron replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Oi some of us are :-) I always know what can be done better ask the lot who sit near me. To answer the question...any tactics employed can be overcome...its having a plan B...watch West Ham let Carroll knock it into nowhere and win second ball they have nothing else. -

Benali claim against the club..an insight??
Give it to Ron replied to patred44's topic in The Saints
We did and he did it for free......I give you one Mr Ricky Lambert and he is A list!!! I will also add Frannie did it as well for our Sunday side but there was a link with the club. There is a big difference though isn't there between hiring a celebrity and having one of your ex players hosting at a match. From what you all say though £500 does seem on the small side then. -

Give it to Ron replied to patred44's topic in The Saints
Thats 2 of us then totally out of touch....not exactly a top drawer is he...funnily enough he is more of a legend since he has retired than when he put in numerous crap performances and got boo'ed by the East Stand lot. £500 for a couple of hours work! Le Tiss , Big Ron, Terry Paine maybe but cripes he was a less than average full back. -
Have had 5....had loads of issues with my knees they now get you up and walking same day. Was able to drive after 2 weeks and normally advice is if you can do an emergency stop then you can drive. As said above listen to your physio and do the excercises given - try building up leg muscles first try straight leg lifts. Step ups are good as well. Good luck

His substitutions today were spot on and bringin on JWP to nullify Kolarovs runs was great to see. He or one of his team clearly have a good tactical brain.
-
Right in front of me and he was nowhere near the ball when he hit Jay - stonewall
-
Where do you think any money they get will go? Leasing the ground? Who will they lease the ground from? Wanna bet the leasing fee adds up to nearly 12m?

Cortese and Le Tissier arrange meeting
Give it to Ron replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Just a shame his last business venture didnt show the same scruples then. -
A quick warm up drill get them to stand opposite each other 5 yards to start with - progression is to 10 yards. One side starts with the ball each and passes to the lad opposite (who remain stationary) and then moves right and receives the pass back from the lad who was facing the lad next to him - the end player runs round and starts again - make them wait until the player is opposite. Poor control, underhit or overhit breaks it all down, gets them passing moving, head up, calling and waiting until a player is in position. Swap over after 2 complete rotations. Very simple but effective.

Vince its all about short sided games, get the lads to have as many touches of the ball as you can. One drill I still do even at u16 is to split them into teams of 3 number each team, half a pitch, small goals, line up half way on each side of the pitch and call out the number(s) , each team has 2 attackers 1 defender - attackers go up to the half way and round a cone , defenders go the cone nearest goal and defend and play against each other. Lads enjoy the competition, improves both tackling, defensive awareness and attackers passing to each other.

My lad is 15 and did this in the Summer, is he in Southampton? If so he is very lucky as there is fantastic support for the young refs from Albert, Ian and the mentors. My lad has been lucky enough to ref some academy games at Staplewood. Its very daunting for the lads at the start and they need a bit of support from dad but they soon learn and recommend it highly to you - if your lad is only 14 suggest you start off in mini soccer for a few weeks before doing some Tyro. There are some great teams as well as some right old numpties on the touchlines but your lad will be taken care of. Join him in the local ref association its great for them to see the older refs have same issues as them and learn how to deal with them - my lad has grown amazingly since doing it he is now very confident, outgoing and improved his personal skills. If you want any more advice or help just let me know. You may also have to think about the kit as that another £90 :-) but he will soon earn that back.

Wigan 2-2 SAINTS /// Post-Match Reactions

Its even better than that :-) We have 24 points now! -
When is Ramirez going to start justifying his price-tag?
Give it to Ron replied to Sheaf Saint's topic in The Saints
If Ramirez scores the goal that keeps us up and we then get the additional money from TV will that mean he is worth the 12m? Its not the players fault what the agents dictate...have a read of this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2271803/David-Sullivan-bullying-threats-violence-agent-demands-transfer-window.html#ixzz2JfTE5wDc Thats why I dont think its worth getting too uptight about the cost - one goal can change that...Forte is an example one game more than paid for his 4 year contract.
