Putting all bias aside for a moment, I just don't get it. How do Pompey keep finding rich foreigners seeminly willing to p*ss hundreds of millions up the wall, then sell up a few years later. Mandaric I can understand. Buy a struggling Old Div 1 club for peanuts, spend a few million on players to get them into the club, then run a shrewd business spending just enough to stay up. But Gaydmak spent tens of millions buying the club, what must be near £100m on players over the years, massive wages on players like Crouch, Defoe and Campbell. Net result, he loses £20m odd a year, has to sell the players to service the debts and ends up selling up for no more than he bought it for. Now Pompey have supposedly found a consortium willing to do the same all over again. Kudos to them I guess.

I don't think the #3 has been a LB since we were in the Prem. Thomas for the last three years, Pele and Kosowski before that. Bale and Bridge were the only two I look back on fondly from my era. Brennan did a decent enough job for a couple of months. Skacel filled the gap well enough, but every time I saw him it was disheartening knowing it was such a waste. Higgy was always a CB, Le Saux was too old and slow. Then at the far end of the spectrum we have O'Halloran, Bernard and Makin.

Don't want to burst this bubble of optimism, but we started the season, "only 10 points off the playoffs". Now we're further away with fewer games to catch up. Infact in around 1/4 of the season we've only made a 1 point dent into the 10 points we were from safety. I think we'll stay up, but the playoffs just aren't gonna happen.

I'm sure Buemi would like to win every race. However when you don't have the equipment to do it, you're always going to be p*ssing into the wind. I think he could have done better, as Rubens has shown, but that Brawn hasn't been the best car since Silverstone. The results since Button won in Turkey are only 5-3 in Rubens favour, so it's not as if Button has lost the plot. If anything Qualifying mistakes have let Button down. He had scrappy laps in Silverstone, Spa, Singapore and again this weekend. He has, except Spa when he was wiped out, made the most of a bad situation and got points in every race. Taking the short-cut to pass Webber in Valencia is the only race mistake I've seen him make all season (so far). These are the hallmarks of a worthy champ IMO.

There is no stand out candidate for me yet, but there are several contenders. Lambert - 6 goals isn't too shaby, but half were penalties and 1 was against Northants in the CC. Will need to tap a few more away before I start believing the hype. Lallana - Nice to see he's found his shooting boots, if he can keep it up I'll be delighted. Let's hope it's not just a flash in the pan. Kelvin - Obviously Harding - Seems a very good, honnest hard working player at this level. Can't comment on Hammond or Smurf as I haven't seen them play yet.

He will deserve it if he gets the most points. He made the most of having the best car at the start of the season and won 6 of the first 7. Since then Brawn haven't had the fastest car, but Button has picked up points in every race except Spa, when he was taken out. I could call Fernando "cruise and collect" for his 2005 Championship. After a decent start he just sat back picking up points whilst Raikkonen and Montoya took most of the wins.

Glad I didn't get out of bed to watch that, because I almost fell asleep watching it. Good result for Jenson overall I guess. Rubens would need at least 2 2nd places to overhaul him now, Vettel a win and a 2nd. All without reply from Button.

Sorry, I clicked quote and was half way through typing that when the phone went. 20 minutes later I hit "submit reply" and end up looking like a spanner.

Trying to figure out how the grid is going to work out. I mean, Button Qualied in 7th, if you move him back 5 places that's 12th, but Alonso and Kovi we're 12th and 9th. If they both drop 5 places, does that mean Button gets promoted 2 places and the net loss is only 3 places? Or do they just move the guys who were behind even further up and he starts 12th? This reminds me of Villeneurve in 1997. Ignored double yellers in a practice session and was eventually DQd from 5th in the race.

W00t!!!! :D

Bishopsworth at the moment.

I always thought he was a decent enough player. Saw a couple of games that season when he was the only player who looked interested in creating goals. Remember him turning Plymouth's RB inside out at SMS in one of his first games. Was a regular for Poland for a long time after he left us, it's just a shame the second half of that season was blighted by injury.

It gets worse Hammond has just past to Lambert.

You've gotta be joking. Lovely part of the country IMO. Certainly compared to Ayr it's f**king Monte Carlo.

No, I'm hoping for a 3-4 so I don't feel bad about missing out. I PREDICTED a 6-5 win with Trotman scoring a 93rd minute scissor kick from the halfway line. Both are possible.

I figured it out, we win our first game after I move house. When I moved to Phoenix our first game was the 6-0 at Molyneux When I moved to Oxford our first game was the 3-2 against Stoke in 07/08 When I moved to The Netherlands our first game was the 3-2 against Sehffield Utd When I moved to Germany our first game was the 3-1 against Exeter last season When I moved to Scotland our first game was er... 1-1 against Wednesday least year. I've just moved to Bristol.

More of the same sil vous plait.

Ah bugger, Pompey score.

I was going to go to this match, but I am on standby for work and decided not to go incase I get called in. It would be big consolation if it was a sh*t game anyway and Saints lose.* *Tongue firmly in cheek.
-
FFS! I chickened out of going to this match, they'd better f**k this up royal. Another 3-4 vs Leeds please Saints.

Can she play on the right?

Great to be back at Suzuka. Second only to Spa on the F1 calendar IMO. A wet race for a change would be different, as long as Button doesn't crash and Rubens doesn't win. Force India were the team to beat in Friday's canoeing session.
