So now Lowe says we couldn't afford Pearson!!!!!!!!
Arizona replied to um pahars's topic in The Saints
It's Lowe's ego, it really is that simple. This is about Lowe doing things his way and not wanting Crouch's best mate running the team. Lowe was chasing Wotte years ago, when our financial situation was nowhere near as desperate. I think he couldn't get his way then, but now we are in this mess, he has got his way because there are few other cheap options, Pearson being one of them. -
No we don't! We just don't. Any team can pass the ball around without getting anywhere. I didn't think anyone seriously still believed this "totaal voetbal" boolacks. The last game I went to was Plymouth at home and I was as bored as I've ever been at SMS. I saw the Palace game on TV and we had 2 shots on target from outside the area. Now unless today's game and the Forest game were a significant improvement, I am inclined to think we are not playing cracking football. P.S. I didn't think we were all that fantastic at the start of the year. Yes we beat Derby (who had just been beaten by Donny IIRC) Brum in the Cup and the mighty Exeter, but we put in some stinkers too.

Skacel and Surman scored at Burnley, but yes our lack of goals is just appaling. When Saga gets back I'd play him up front with either BWP or Skacel. In the real world I can't see that happening and we're going to be thin on goals from a long time. Oh do tell us where we are going wrong, we're all dying to know.

The players can look hard at themselves in the mirror all day (I have a suspicion that DMG already does) but it wont make any difference. It's not so much their attitude as much as they are crap and so is the manager.

I think there is a fairly long list of people who could pip Adrian to the post in that category.

Probably stoned and not particularly worried about anything. I think you'd have to be on something to manage Saints at the moment.

... The start of Saints decline began. Having woken up 4th in the Prem, we were beatten 2-0 away by Fulham. We've been sliding down the Leagues ever since.

I couldn't get a ticket for the Manure game and originally I was p*ssed off. Thinking about it though, I've saved £80 not watching what I honnestly believe could be double figures for Man U. Most lower league teams against Man U would put out a stubborn side with some old experienced relics and sit with 10 men behind the ball. Normally they get a very respectable 3-0 defeat. With our kids, I think once the 4th goal goes in they could just fall appart.

Can't see Wotton being on high wages. I thought part of the deal for him coming here was that we gave him a log contract in return for low wages. Apparently Wright was offered a 1 year deal but turned it down. I know we could argue about JW until the cows come home, so we'll agree to disagree, however of all the players who left in summer, he isn't on the list of players I'd want back.

Fallon, that ***** that broke Pahars ankle in the build up to the relegation season.

Man City now 4-0 up. Skates down to 11th, 3 points above the drop and with a worse GD than anyone not in bottom 3. If Newcastle draw and Boro and Sunderland win they will be 14th.

Oakley puts Leicester ahead...
-
Man City 1-0 Up. Moves the Skates to within 3 points of the drop zone if it stays like that.
-
I've only just seen the team. DMG, Smith, Gillett, Gobern... f**k me that's a sh*t line-up.
-
Are they relegating Prem teams to L1 now then? Harsh IMO.
-
I am partly pleased that we have got rid of an uber-average player, but at the same time p*ssed off that it's another experienced head gone and he will probably be replaced by some teenage wannabe from Tranmere reserves. Agree with CEC. We really might aswell have just kept Jermaine Wright.

Okay, page 3 girl, glamour model, whatever you want to call her.

Well, until Arsenal actually pay us the 1.5m Euro and MS's wages for the time he has been here, I refuse to see that claim as relevant, even if it is true. I firmly believe having Pearson as manager would have had a much better impact on our results than having MS sat in the treatment room all week. I don't care what people say about Leicester having a good squad and lots of money. As Redknapp and Burley have proved since we went down, that counts for f**k all if you don't have a decent manager. -
On here please. Holmes and Smith both expected to be fit for this game. Schneiderlin and Svensson both ruled out.

Whereas we'd have had to pay Pearson 3 years wages up front if he'd signed? The deal involves Arsenal, his agent said so? Gee, I wonder why a players agent would say Arsenal are after him. Perhaps his agent is George Weah. If the deals was in Euros, we're even worse off with the current exchange rate. It's probably going to end up costing us around £400k a year for the next 4 years, or however the payments are structured. As for his agent saying Arsenal are involved, well you seriously have to be deluded to believe they are chasing him at the moment. Maybe Arsenal agree to pay for MS transfer fee as part of the early settlement for Theo. Maybe they took him on trial once or sent a scout to watch him train. One thing I can confidently claim however is that Arsenal will not be buying him from us for a long time, if ever. Personally I think it is just a story put about by his agent to try and get interest from bigger clubs and get him a decent contract here. Lowe probably went along with it to try and delude us into thinking we have some of the most exciting young tallents in Europe. As it stands I don't think one of the best sides in Europe will be banging down our door to get an injury prone midfielder, who isn't even the best player in a team currently destined for League 1.
