  1. Think we can put this one to bed. My hopes weren't exactly high.
  2. 5 would realistically be a good haul. I think we'll get 1, but I don't know where.
  3. Ironic isn't it. The one time we want Lowe to sack the manager...
  4. I think SRS might be a student, try asking him.
  5. Nope. But in this instance Jan is. Our squad may be poor, but I don't think they are being at all well managed either. I know it takes time to mould a team. However you can also spend as long as you want sticking to the same flawed system without achieving anything. Jan is doing the latter. We are IMO worse that we were in summer with pretty much the same group of players. As for the transfer policy... Robertson, Pulis, Pekhart, Forecast, Gasmi, Smith. If these were Jan's transfers, then they are very poor ones and he should walk. If they aren't his transfers then he has an impossible job and should also walk.
  6. Saganowski, Euell and BWP are all available.
  7. Forward line of: - - Surman - Anderton - - Lallana - Skacel - Holmes - - - - Saganowski - - - - would do it for me. Sadly that doesn't include McGoalkick, so it wont happen.
  8. There are strong arguments for both IMO. On the one hand we have about as much bite as a shoal of jellyfish up front. On the other hand Rudi has been very reliable in defence and we look likely to concede more goals if someone less experienced was playing there. For me it would be in the hole in Jan's current formation, playing just in behind Saganowski.
  9. Noooooooooooooooooo he hasn't. Telstar? Helmand Province? These are not big clubs. Your talking Blue Square South standard here. I think the problem is that Jan just isn't a very good manager. I admire his philosophy of attractive football and his honnest attitude, but his interviews and his teams just stink of a man way out of his depth. Also, playing at a high level doesn't make you a good manager. Just as Kettering Town.
  10. No and probably not.
  11. Well, in Davis, Saganowski, Skacel, Surman, Lallana, Holmes and MS their is undoubted quality. The trouble is, as Wright and Euell showed for most of last season, if you are carrying a couple of passengers in every match, it is going to hinder you a lot. Last nights team was a million miles away from being a good side. I'm sorry but DMG, Lancashire, Gillett and Paterson just aren't up to it for me. Jame and Smith are hit and miss. Perry is quality, but just doesn't hve the legs to play every game. We MUST NOT sell ANY of our decent player to have a chance of surviving and we MUST bring in a RB and two centre halves. Up front I think we can get away with it by playing Saga and BWP. However, if we rely on McGoalkick and Paterson we are going to struggle.
  12. Good luck mate. We tried getting this together a few weeks ago and decided everyone was either to cheap to pay for floodlights or didn't want to get their pinkies cold. I'm out by the way sadly, unless you fancy an away tie in Glasgow.
  13. After watching the red on BBC news highlights, there is no question it was a red IMO. Horrible tackle, lucky not to break his leg.
  14. So er what, someone's going to buy SMS for about £30m, then raise it to the ground so we can't play there and turn it into office space? How about no.
  15. I know they are short on confidence and they aren't CCC quality players, but they ARE better than they have been in recent games. If you tell the players their performance today was good, they will not try and better it. Things are bad at the moment. What can we possibly gain by the players being in denial about it.
  16. I think Um, there are two ways of looking at it. The first is the sensible way, which is that for a game against a team like Utd you want as many of your top players playing as possible. That would include Saganowski, which means it is annoying that he wasn't available... for whatever reasons. The second is Lowe's way of thinking. We get a cash bonanza from a home cup tie against Man Utd, but we will almost certainly lose whoever plays. Therefore it makes no sense to be playing anyone who is on any kind of match bonus, i.e. Saga, when it is cheaper to play someone like Paterson. Obviously it's Lowe who calls the shots, which is why scenario B has unfolded and Saga was mysteriously unavailable to play.
  17. The difference being I am not capable of running 100m in 11s, whereas these players are capable of better. Yes I know they are a poor bunch, but today's performance wasn't the limit of what they can "achieve" I wouldn't scream myself horse and call them everything under the sun like some 1950s drill sergeant, but I would let them know today's performance wasn't acceptable.
  18. Sorry, but what is the point in trying to make the players feel like they did well today. Surely that will just create a head in the sand mentality of 'chin up and everything will be fine.' The players and manager were poor today. They need to know this and do something about it.
  19. Jeez, I really can't explain it any more simply that that. We have been crap up front all season. We were crap again today. It's like fighting in Gaza. I wasn't expecting everything to suddenly be fine this afternoon, but that doesn't mean it's fine and we shouldn't be unhappy about it.
  20. Being sh*t going forward the rest of the season doesn't mean it's fine to do it against Man Utd. No I didn't expect us to be better against Utd, but I am not happy about it either.
  21. Er... Does not compute. Are you suggesting that having 5 shot on goal against Man Utd isn't a bad return? If it were a full strength Man Utd team, I might agree. However they were missing Ferdinand, Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney (for large parts) and never got out of second gear. I wasn't expecting us to tear them appart, but to have at least made them work a bit at the back would have been nice.
  22. 1. I can honnestly say H is the only member of Steps I can name. (And that's only from Never Mind the Buzz****s.) 2. Not being idiotic, it's a similie. I was simply making the point that outperforming Gobern, DMG and Paterson was about as dificult as finding Chavs in a McDonalds (see, there's another one) 3. Running at defenders a couple of times doesn't make a good performance for me. As far as I'm concerned 5 shots on goal with 2 on target would suggest a poor game from everyone. One of those was a 40yard daisy cutter anyway.
  23. Think we can agree on the last statement if nothing else. It p*sses me off that some people are using poor ref decisions and a good Utd side to excuse a VERY poor performance.
  24. Bit like saying H was the best member of Steps.
  25. Maybe, but he jumped up with his arm stretch above his head. Looked like he was trying to recreate the Hand of God. I thought standard practice in a wall was to have both hands protecting the wedding vegetables. One second DMG is doing this, the next he is doing Saturday Night Fever. I can't see how this could happen if he didn't deliberately move his arm towards the ball.
