Oh, and my political compass places me pretty much exactly where Andy NS is.
-
Care to illustrate where I said that?

Was reading the Blackpool board on 606 earlier to see if they were talking about the FA Cup game (they're not) and stumbled across a thread on MP, they love him! From what i've seen of him from watching MOTD and Blackpool playing live on the telly he would have torn this league up as an impact sub. However, if he can learn to hold his own in the Prem now against teams like Arsenal, United etc it would be of more benefit than playing Dag&Red and Yeovil.

Now that's not very fair Verbal, Dune posted a lovely video earlier...

As I explained in my post (the relevant part again missed out), the variable was thrown up by Firth. Re-read my post.

I vote for the one where Deppo turns the tables on Dune. -
Oh come on, don't be stupid. You know exactly what I meant in that sentence. This research was not created for a 'laugh', research continues into brain structures constantly. The idea to compare structures of right and left wingers was thrown up by Firth much in the same way that I could say we should compare the structures of fish and chip shop owners and kebab van owners. Or Dune and Deppo. How you can say that such research into neuroscience is not worthwhile is pretty amusing, it gives us a valuable insight into the 'human condition', which has fascinated countless academics over the centuries. And also, I don't work in the Public Sector, i'm a Student. [Waits for irrelevant abuse about sponging off the tax-payer and throwing fire extinguishers around]
-
Also Dune, what is your definition of sensibly debating a topic? I'd be interested to know, as you seem to think that calling lefties 'thick' is perfectly reasonable. Constantly deviating from the subject in hand by posting videos of game shows and talking about the British Empire does not constitute a 'sensible debate' as far as i'm concerned.
-
Research in neuroscience like this is conducted all the time on a multitude of different variables which affect cognitive functions. This research, while featured on a radio programme, is still valid in the field of neuroscience research, and will form the basis of further research into the subject which could throw up a lot of interesting ideas and findings. In reality, you've probably paid 0.000001p of your precious tax money to fund this research, and the mere existence of this research led to the creation of this thread and thus another channel for you to have a pop at people on the internet.
-
It doesn't boil down to intelligence! The point of this thread is to show that research illustrates that people of right and left persuasions have different brain structures. Intelligence does not factor into it!
-
And your answer in relation to the topic of the thread is...? You can blather on about the Empire, Thatcher, Socialist scumbags and all that jazz if you want, but i'd be interested to hear your response to the issue raised in the OP. Intelligence doesn't factor into the equation, nor the history of right and left-wing politics. Neither does the prosperity of the western world.

Can't seem to access it...something about you not enabling Spotify Social bert? ------------------------------------- EDIT: Scratch that, got into the playlist from the link on the Mixtapes Return thread. ------------------------------------- EDIT EDIT: Great playlist Bert, i'm not a fully-fledged metalhead but I do indulge from time to time and most of those bands on there are particular favourites of mine.

He won't reply, just seen him in the street with a pillow-case over his head and a pitchfork in his hand. He was chasing after a group of Asian youths I believe.

Read the article, it says that Colin Firth commissioned the study as a light-hearted piece for the Today show, but the results have surprised the researchers at UCL and they're going to conduct a more thorough study on the topic with a larger and more diverse sample.
-
What does that have to do with this subject? You've filled your quota of Thatcher threads, how about moving onto a different topic for a change? Also, solipsist, cracking word Deppo!
-
I'm used to it by now tbh, and besides, I have scientific fact on my side!

Hello fellow TSW-ers, i've been away without internet for a while so i'd like to wish everyone a belated merry christmas, hope you all had an enjoyable christmas season (and enjoyed the cracking win against Huddersfield!). Something caught my eye in The Independent today about political views and how they correlate with the structure of the grey matter in the ol' brainbox. A study conducted on 90 people at UCL showed that people with right-wing political views tend to have a more "pronounced" amygdala, a so called "primitive" part of the brain which is mainly associated with controlling emotion. People with left-wing views tended to have more grey matter around the anterior cingulate cortex, which is associated with rationality and empathy. The article can be read here: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/rightwing-brains-different-2171127.html Do you agree with the findings of this research? This is by no means the final conclusion, as more research will now be conducted on the subject to try and find a more conclusive answer, so we'll have to wait and see whether these results are replicated across a larger sample group or whether it was just an anomaly.

Nice to see you guys have been thinking about me while i've been away, a belated merry christmas to you all! -
Lallana has been consistently our best player this season, and was excellent in the latter months of last season as well. My vote goes to him. Honourable mentions to Lambert (who would have had my vote had he not started this season so poorly) and Chamberlain.
-
Probably Inception for me as well, although I think i've been to see 2, maybe 3 films this year.
-
Am I right though?
-
TDD won't agree with that because the thought of being on a sub with a gay bloke terrifies him. People have pre-conceptions about gay people that are completely wrong - just because someone is gay doesn't mean they're going to try and f*ck every bloke in their squadron. Putting a gay man in a submarine is no different to putting anyone else in there, so they shouldn't be discriminated against by not being allowed to be open about their sexual orientation.

It's Deppo's birthday today.

Very little. And yours?
