  1. http://youtu.be/Qi99oDALtRU Not sure if I posted this before but this makes 11 year old me incredibly happy.
  2. This winds me up to - it's a f*cking advert, not some kind of inspiring message. Sainsbury's are ultimately using the cause to get you to shop in their store, which I find a pretty cheap ploy. If you want to donate to the RBL, donate to them. Don't cut Saino into it because they've got an advert on. I do agree with Batman () on where I shop, adverts have almost zero influence on me because I shop on location. I live near a big Sainsburys and also a smaller Tesco store, as well as Aldi (10p to the poster who can guess where I live..) and I buy my food based on that, not because one of them is running a snazzy advert.
  3. How do you square that? Surely their commitment to renewable energy would count as huge progress compared to the ticking time bomb of our fossil fuel reliance?
  4. I think this is the key - Les Reed has talked about the department as a whole being very impressive, did he say 11 full time scouts? We'll have someone to step in for Mitchell should he leave but it would be disappointing to see him go to that shambles of a club while we're in the ascendency. Also, not heard about Spurs moving for Delph - not a bad signing at all given they lack a proper runner in midfield. He could be their Steven Davis!
  5. Villa W City D Arsenal D Utd W When I looked at the fixture list at the start of the season I don't think I ever could have imagined predicting those results for us! These games will be tough but December is a tough month for us anyway with all the games and a couple of potential banana skins along the way. Personally I think we'll be ok for these 4 though - Villa are shocking atm (although they should've beaten an equally shocking Spurs), City are hit and miss right now, Arsenal is one I am quite worried about but think we have the character to get a decent result, and the Utd game really depends on who they have fit at the time! Either way it'll be an interesting next period leading up to the christmas run-in.
  6. I'm just more surprised that you have a missus Jamie
  7. I think he clocked it when somebody made a disparaging comment about OurAdz' beard on the Defectors Thread a couple of days ago. Tbf it was a bit of a slow burner.
  8. Can't see why Mitchell would want to leave us for Spurs tbh, with our scouting team flourishing and theirs crumbling he'd have a big old job on his hands - why give yourself the trouble?
  9. Tories will win a minority, Labour at the moment pose absolutely zero threat because of their leadership (although tbf most of the ShadCab are w4nk as well). Will be interesting to see how the newly-popular parties like UKIP and the Greens fare too. I'll probably be voting Green as it stands, and i'm fuming that they've not been included in the debates. It's explained better than in my words here: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/nov/10/bbc-tv-election-debates-greens-snp-plaid-cymru-ukip
  10. This will be my 2nd game of the season - my first was QPR so expect something spectacular lads! Will be interesting to see what kind of reception Nigel Pearson gets from us. Doubt many there will even know he managed us tbf!
  11. Blimey, what a feeling to be a Saints fan at the moment!
  12. Same team as Stoke at home please, Long in for Mane if he doesn't come through training. Our forward line could absolutely ruin their defence at the moment, but they've got some good attackers too. Should be a decent game.
  13. Good god, that second half wasn't pleasant to listen to..
  14. Vividly remember queuing at the Northam ticket office to buy my seat for our game against them in L1 as a load of Bournemouth fans were escorted past us by the police, foaming at the mouth screaming "F*CKING SCUMMERS" at me and a couple of old ladies who were just as confused as me. I don't understand their supposed rivalry with us, although thinking about it they don't really have any real rivals..
  15. We do need to look for a long-term replacement for Pelle sooner rather than later (mental to say given that he signed about 3 months ago!). Don't think we'll be looking at that until next summer at the earliest though. Paper bollicks to try and stir up some rumours in a quiet period.
  16. Poor Bompey, it must be cold in our shadow.
  17. At the moment we're playing better than most of the teams listed in the OP, potentially with the exception of Utd. Based on the first 9 games I think we have about as much quality as Everton and Spurs, although Liverpool and Utd have the edge on us in terms of individual talent. Chelsea and City will run away with it by January, but in the battle for the remaining European places we're absolutely a contender at this stage. We will inevitably hit a rough patch (City, Arsenal and Utd in just over a week across Nov/Dec will be tricky) but if we can cut out the errors from last season and maintain our level of performance people would be daft to count us out of Top 6/8 discussions imo.
  18. If anyone else on the forum could translate from dutch to english I think they might be qualified to bring up any errors, but if they can't I think you're qualified to tell them to fūck off!
  19. Had the new Twilight Sad album on today. I think they're one of those bands that takes a while to grow into their sound, and although their earlier albums were great this one is on a whole new level. Might well be my favourite album of the year!
  20. He gets invited as a guest of the owners most weeks, has a season ticket too I think. Not quite sure why that's relevant though, he's a man going to watch his team play like most other men do on a weekend.
  21. Didn't even realise he had an operation tbf, looks like he had it on Tuesday so not expecting him to be involved for at least a couple of weeks! Just thinking of who could come in for Pelle up front if need be to provide a bit of a physical presence as Long will get gobbled up by their defence.
  22. We made changes against Arsenal in the last round and beat them - nothing wrong with rotation when done properly. Mourinho very rarely plays the same XI two weeks in a row, it's all about making sure you have the right balance in the team you put out.
  23. Have you taken your medicine today dear?
  24. Got to make sure the squad is properly rotated for this one, can't risk losing big players when we've got some tough games coming up in the next month. Is Gallagher back for this one?

    Adkins

Problem is that Nigel hasn't got the reputation that those 3 you mentioned do in terms of promotions from the Championship and bringing stability to clubs once they're up there. I think he could have earned that reputation with a bit more patience shown by Cortese but that didn't happen. I don't think he'll succeed at Reading in their current situation, and it would be difficult for most managers to do so at the moment as well. I think he's in the bracket with managers like Mackay, Zola, Hughton that have shown they can do it but haven't fully proven themselves yet for a club at this level to consider hiring them. Clubs don't take risks with appointing managers nowadays, which is why the likes of Warnock, Redknapp, Pardew, Jol etc get jobs at this level because they are considered a safe pair of hands.
