If I could, I would drive down there now sir!

The " you is my new bestest mate" speach has been aided somewhat by several pints of Ringwood Best, it has to be said!

So Pinnacle think they would still have the fans support
Polaroid Saint replied to SET's topic in The Saints
"We truly believe that with the right backing, we would have made a difference" Mr Lynam thats was. Still stands. Nothing against TL or even MF and certainly not MLT. The fact remains any single one of us idiots on TSF forums would improve the state of SFC if we had the right backing. If 'Pinnacle' or Marc Jackson, or me and my mates, were to somehow pull a rabbit out of the hat (or even find a hat) then I would support them as much as I would support any effort to actually try to 'save' and stabilise our club. With the right backing of course. -
Hampster! you are my anarcho-liberaterian socio-moneterian hero. This, and the comment about Local beweries and businesses of course. I hate the way we* socialists/liberals/pinkos are always protrayed as woolly-jumper when really we are f*cking seething at the abuse of our civil liberties at the hands of big business and psuedo-financial institutions. Grrrr. I'm with you. *not saying you are one, but I'm adopting you as one, so I can have my rant.

1) Sometimes ,it can be arranged. Contact the club. ALternatively, you can watch most of the academy games down there. Which is often a lot more entertaining than it might first sound. At the moment the public are actually encouraged to join in. We might find a midfield and strike force that way, you never know. 2) Traditionally all football training starts about 10 in the morning and finishes before 3 o'clock. These vary on fixture commitments and individual players trainig programmes. Also, purely coincidently, 3 o'clock is the traditional pub opening time. 3) No. Sorry. I think you can bus to marchwood. This probably didn't help much did it?

AHA! spot on! the takeover will happen on a Fry-day, whatever day of the week it is. We've been going wrong all this time!
-
Just thinking that myself as I typed my, ahem, 'witty' reply. Loss of internet connection would be BLISS tomorrow.

World Peace please! Sappy, but strangely the actual truth of what 'I wish for tomorrow' every night. That and a 'morning tangle' with Polaroid girl, obviously. "It's the balance between pax and sex that keeps the humans being."

I'm here, you fools! Earlier I posted a completely unfounded rumour passed on to me by a much-loved but known-to-be-a-bit-of-a-prankster friend. THAT, ladies and gentleman, makes me as ITK as any previous ITK to have posted on these here forums. So, if the Stig is unveiled tomorrow as own new owner, can I claim a prize? Or just glory? If it's a prize, I'd prefer something edible and sweet please, as I still have my dessert fork ready for the Humble Pie I was promised earlier this week.

Best Game at the Dell: Win, Draw or Lose
Polaroid Saint replied to Redondo Saint's topic in The Saints
The 4-1 win against Newcastle at the dell in the eighties will always stick in my mind. best player that day was peter beardsley for the toon - if he'd been on his own it would have been a draw!!! -
Chapel Rovers???

That is good advice. And considering it's post-glasto, much easier to adhere to than normal...

...Okay, So. I have heard a rumour - from someone I trust implicity but also know to be a bloody good wind-up merchant. It is a ridiclous and unlikely tale that I do NOT believe one iota, however I feel it best to share, so it can be dismissed for the nonsense it clearly is. The clue was rather heavy-handily put in the original post. Swiss based consortia is meant to include former fomula one world champion (and 'not-the-stig') M Schumacher... ...a tax break for him apperently ?!?! See, absolute tosh. But the more I have been playing it over in my mind all day, the more it makes sense and I felt the need to share. It's the heat, it must be.

I have a rumour. A new rumour. And it's about the Swiss bid... ...ooohh, Can I? Can I? Can I? I'd love to post it, but if it's anywhere near true then I don't want to scupper it! Actually, what am I saying, it's about as likely to be true as Michael Schumacher being unveiled as the Stig on BBC's Top Gear!!!?!!!

Something's been bothering me for some time. What happened to Nicks A thru to F ??? Eh?

I have always had a very close 'second' team - one that has caused me great issue over the years. In fact, of the two main reasons* I became a Saints fan in the first place, they are probably the most important. See, my Dad's family are ALL Brentford, but my dad was not into football at all. As such I would be brought old kits and scarfs by various uncles and the grandperants. In 1983, any boy running around in a 20-a-side game in the park in red and white stripes would be called "southampton" by his new found team mates. I soon learnt this was the home of heros and conviently the closest club to where I lived and, best of all they were one of the top teams in the country. So, as any self-respecting 6 year old would do; I hunted the glory! Of course, it's all been pretty much downhill since then and I have had to watch as the two teams come closer in parity untill the Bees are now arguably the more attractive side to todays young 'un looking for a club in Red n White stripes... ...I'm not saying I'm jumping ship, just realised now that my life-boat is more seaworthy than the vessal I'm currently on. (over stretched that metaphor I think). *the other reason? My mother (pregant with me at the time !!) was at Wembley on the greatest day in Saints history so had a soft spot for them :-)

Southampton deal still on, insists Fialka
Polaroid Saint replied to Saint Billy's topic in The Saints
well said that man. (FIW; we Jews do tend to keep OUR money to ourselves and just use the normal stuff the rest of you use for playing with). -
I'm available. And sadly for the first time after saying that for 15 years, I truly believe that I CDAJFU.

oh dear. Swiss famous for accute financing, utmost discretion, immaculate paperwork, flawless continental efficiency and superb attention to detail. British famous for bullish chancers that spout their gobs off about how much money they have (or haven't) got. swiss backers and british bidders would be more re-assuring! ;-)

Other cities without a professional football club?
Polaroid Saint replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Saints
lol@basingstoke ?!?!? -
PSV Einhoven are another one. And the league are not only banning their own history they are slapping it with a restraining order! - pointless rebranding name changes, overt sponsorship, letting clubs move and rename, shafting 'historic clubs' with petulant points deductions, pandering to television schedules, favouritism to currently succesful clubs, the list goes on...

Other cities without a professional football club?
Polaroid Saint replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Saints
Tis a city, the historic capital of the West Riding (Yorkshire) donchaknow! -
I remember a time when it seemed like they were! Bl00dy OS more concerned with concerts than they were the football. Ah, remember the glory days when all we had to moan about was the OS and the catering? It's probably the wrong thing to say, but they could knock it down and build houses. Very popular thing to do to football stadiums these days it seems.

Aye, by some way, unless you count Wakefield... ...yes, it's a city.
