That's utter nonsense Man City and Chelsea were both in the top ten most successful clubs in England PRIOR to their buy outs, both City and Chelsea had average crowds historically that dwarfed most other clubs (City even got an average of 28,000 in league one). Manchester is also one of the most desirable places to live in the country, with the area of cheshire having some of the most expensive properties in the country and Manchester being infamous for night life, music and culture. As much as i love Saints we're not even close to being comparable in terms of history, attendances or attractive destinations sadly, in fact i often am hugely surprised how much people over estimate how attractive Hampshire is to live for a mid 20's footballer. There's a huge dearth of things to do in comparison with even Brighton or Bristol, let alone London, Manchester, Birmingham or Liverpool. Sadly Southampton is something of a cultural blackhole, built around students and chain pubs. The likes of which the elite of footballers are unlikely to ever find that enticing.

The Secret Footballer claims saints academy is critisised inside football

This thread is veering scarily close to the Nazi ideal of Eugenics right now, personally i thought our support was better than that but some of the institutional racist dross that's appeared here is frankly shocking. And the fact that it's not the normal trolls and **** takers spouting it is even more worrying. A lot of these comments come from people who clearly think they're being logical and "scientific" about the whole thing, despite posting absolute P.T Barnum style gumf and bullsh*t -
Totally mate, though i can understand why you don't want to take a nipper on that journey. It's one thing to do the trip by yourself another completely to take your kid 23km from the Gaza strip with a bunch of drunk Saints fans carrying George's crosses and halo's all over them!

Interestingly having looked it seems flight's are actually cheaper to Israel now than when i booked, there's return flights for £208 which isn't bad at all. That's about the same amount of money as some have paid to go to Inter, so cuts out the excuse that it's cost that means they want to go to one but not the other. Plus if you go to Be'er Sheeva as a season ticket holder you'll almost certainly get a ticket AND it'll more than likely raise you up the pecking order for knockout games (should we get that far) and possibly even Prague. To be honest if i was looking at missing out on Inter tickets and hadn't booked flights i'd get Be'er Sheeva tickets and then hope i could do Prague which is also still fairly cheap (i'm actually doing all three but that's by the by). Of course that's not as glamorous as a big club in a half empty stadium i know, but i have no doubts Be'er Sheeva will be an immense trip and Prague will be the best **** up of the lot.

given that you've got your old man's season ticket (presumably with his name on it) unless you have exactly the same name i'd say the chances of you getting a ticket don't really mean sh*t as you won't be able to get in anyway. For what it's worth the season before i was in a similar position re:Midjtyland, i had 10 aways on mine but had also done Stoke but bought on the day so it didn't count. As things went it dropped down and i was fine in the end so it wasn't an issue. Personally i reckon, if you can get round the fact it's your old man's season ticket, you "might" be ok on two. It's just going to take some military style planning to get in exactly as they go on sale. as for the last part that doesn't make the blindest difference, i do 140mile round trip every "home" game but if the club gave me extra credit for that i'd think they were mental.
-
The club have suggested to people that they won't make it below season ticket holders with 3 aways, personally i think it'll go down to season ticket holders with 2 aways. Should it go down to season tickets + 1 away it'll be an absolute free for all, as there's unlikely to be more than a few hundred left, but thousands of people that qualify. If it makes just season ticket holders you'll be queueing for days before, since we have about 24k season ticket holders!

I specifically asked about a charge as I have transport sorted already and they said they were reviewing the cost, which makes me think it won't be free. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's a difficult one mate, I can understand the club giving opportunities to season ticket holders first (with aways). Personally I think members with multiple aways should be given a chance too as they often make up our hardcore away support. The problem is where it's over subscribed they have to have a criteria and this is the standard, and probably the fairest. But it's always going to **** some people off. Also I think for a few this will be their first away and they won't understand the usual process, and won't be used to not being able to get a ticket so will feel aggrieved. When the truth is this is normal for us that do it regularly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh absolutely, and i personally think it's a joke that Inter didn't just give us what we wanted. I doubt we'd have sold more than 10k to be honest as flights would restrict the numbers travelling. And i'd rather every Saints fan that wanted was going. I just don't agree with an argument that says that people with no aways are as valid to qualify as those with many. To me it's like anything, you have to work for what you get, and just expecting it because you're rich enough to afford something isn't a good enough excuse.

Try the thousands of pounds we've spent (alongside the season ticket) on tickets to other clubs, on travel to see them, on food, drink and days of holiday lost from work (if you're lucky enough to have holiday, otherwise factor in loss of earnings). Of course those people deserve it more than someone that just goes to home games. In fact i'd go so far as saying that members who do multiple aways deserve it more than season ticket holders that do a couple a season too. As to your 25 seasons well i've done 30+ AND away games, i know people have family commitments but that's life isn't it? And if at somepoint i have to stop doing aways and i drop down the pecking order that's fair too. This sense of entitlement that a section of our fanbase has suddenly developed about the fact that THEY should be able to go to a glamour game is embarrassing. You want to go? Put the leg work in, spend the time, money and effort. You want to qualify first next time? Then go to Be'er Sheeva, because sure as hell that's going to be on general sale and it's only three days out of your calendar. Also if we get out of the group you'll get the chance to be up the pecking order for those tickets. The ONLY reason people are moaning is because this is Inter, had we got Fenerbache, Roma or Zenit (which may have given us similar numbers) this wouldn't be an issue. All that said though there is a separate issue around why Inter can't be more flexible, but that's down to them and i doubt we'll ever get the honest truth behind it.

Perceived is the right word. Plenty of my mates will be out on the **** and none will be looking for bother. The idea that that's what most will be looking for is just pure prejudice on your part to be honest and shows how misguided you are about our support and english support in general.

Can't see anything other than a defeat here, hopefully nothing to humiliating and with Bertrand (hopefully) back i expect our defence to be stronger. Can't see us scoring though so probably go for a 2-0 Arsenal win.

Not sure you can use home attendance as a marker for away attendance. I'm not surprised that Hapoel and Sparta Prague aren't having the take up of Inter at home. They're not attractive clubs in the same way, and certainly won't attract the "floating" or "plastic" type fan that only goes to the big games. On the other hand Sparta away many will see as easy to get too, a great city for a **** up and relatively cheap. For those reasons it's going to be hugely over subscribed, and personally i think it's telling they haven't yet announced ticket details. I wonder if they're waiting on the sales for the Be'er Sheeva away game, then from there they'll release Sparta tickets based on those that travel to Israel as first priority. My personal guess would be that we'll have somewhere in the region of 990 - 1600 official tickets at Sparta (based on other teams that have played there), and probably about 2000 - 3000 Saints fans in Prague (based on the amount of people that have claimed to have booked travel already). Obviously that second number is based on anecdotal evidence, but i'd say that in the group of people i know about 100% have booked flights to Milan, about 70/80% booked flights to Prague and only about 20/30% to Israel. It's also - i guess - worth noting that the group i know by and large travel to away games in this country, with only a few that don't bother more than once every few years (all of whom have booked flights to Milan already).

Walking through Viccy park to Bethnal Green or to Mile End or bow road, then changing from the central line/district is also an option. Stratford will be a nightmare to be honest, it's bad enough for Westfield on a normal saturday let alone a game. Personally i'm planning on drinking in Hackney Wick as there's a ton of good places there and you can walk from hackney wick over the canal to the ground in about 10-15mins. On a different note has anyone got their tickets yet?

Europa League - Sparta Prague travel/accommodation thread
ericb replied to stevegrant's topic in Saints Away Supporters
Taken this from the mickey's forum from when they played there, it's a bit old (2011) but i assume a lot of it is still relevant -
The bit i can't get my head around is how so few of our support seem to understand how away travel works. I've seen so many people complaining about how's it being done, including some people asking why those with the most away attendances get first choice! Personally i'd be very surprised if they make season ticket holders with no aways, since despite us taking 2-3k most away games there's probably only about 7-800 that do close to every game and then the rest of the matches are made up of floating support that does maybe 3/4 a season at various grounds. The one point that does annoy me with the tickets though is that i personally think it should just be done on aways. So season ticket + aways first, then members + aways (at each level), as a lot of our consistent away support tends to be members. I also have a feeling that it'll be the worst atmosphere of any of the games. Generally when we take large allocations, especially to glamour games like this, the atmosphere is woeful. We basically end up taking far more of our more middle class types who don't want to sing. Be'er Sheeva on the other hand should be cracking, a real adventure (even if i'm having to extend my overdraft to do it) and i reckon Prague should be noisy based on the small allocation and how cheap it is to go on the ****.

Does not compute

I assume we'll get an official allocation of 4k but then an official allocation of another 4k based on the "neutral" section. Would also guess that if you can't get into either of those then you'll be able to pick up a ticket in the home ends, and talking to fans of other clubs that have been to the San Siro for games it's pretty straight forward to walk up on the day and buy. Interestingly my mates that went with United and Spurs said that expect a LONG wait after the game in the away end, as the Milan clubs tend to keep away fans in for up to an hour after the game. Also they said that if you've got vertigo you're f*cked, as the away end is right in the gods and banked so steeply you feel like you're about to fall down it.

All booked up for every game now, can't f*cking wait!

**** all gone now, cheapest showing is £308. Cheers though

Which budget air site mate?

Anyone found any good deals on flights to Tel Aviv? I've been seriously struggling to find cheap enough flights but it's the game i most want to go to as it's the one proper adventure we've got in our group.
