    Saints single

I'm definitely itk with this and yes it's still rumbling round the club and apparently Krueger really likes the idea of it, and even had a launch event planned to coincide. That said access to the players means it's a problem and whilst it's agreed in principle it's not moving anywhere fast and could potentially stall to nothing due to the new season. 2. Maybe but day trippers that have done a certain amount of aways, and given it's only the second away game and still based on last seasons criteria in the main it whittles down those that will be eligible for the first European away trips. Obviously though some of the clapper types won't fancy some of the European trips, but for somewhere cosy like portugal or spain i could definitely see them tagging along.
  3. So thinking about ticket allocations and chances of people getting them i'd say from the talk about Midtjylland pick ups, it makes me assume that the priority will be done on people with two European aways first - there's only ~500 of those officially - then 1 European away, (1,400 minus the 500) so around 900, then the normal route. In pot most of our current regular travelling support should be ok as the small allocation is going to be around 40k (Fiorentina) so 4k, with most being around 5k allocation minimum plus. Where it gets interesting is in pot two where the average will be around 30k or above and given we get 10% that will mean there should be about 1600 for our normal away support that haven't done a European game. Mind you given that some of those will be taken up by the travel packages set on by the club i'd hazard a guess that even on the top end of pot two - circa 30k - we'll probably only see around 1k for the normal away support that haven't done European games previously. That's not a hell of a lot really and makes getting a ticket to the first European away absolutely vital, especially for those that have currently only done 1 European away (which is basically the Arnhem lot). If it's a situation whereby we draw pot two or below first (and not one of the big clubs) then those that have done no European aways currently but have done a fair few domestic aways, and assuming that the ones that did the European games last season have to be part of our more hardcore away support, you can be in a position to make an educated guess on how many aways you'll need. If you assume that our average premier league travelling support is somewhere in the region of 2,300 and that you're taking out the 1,600 then that leaves about 700 "new" fans to European aways. So if you've not done any European aways then you're either going to have to take an overpriced (and not as fun) club package to build your European aways up or you're going to be scrambling for a handful of tickets. In fact i'd hazard a guess that if we're drawn against a pot two or below side first game then for those of you that haven't done European aways already you'll probably be look at something like 5 - 7 aways to guarantee a ticket, 3-5 to give yourself a good chance and anything lower than that you'll be struggling. And given that between now and then we only actually have one more away game that will count (Arsenal) i reckon it's probably a fairly solid bet that the travelling support at Arsenal away will by and large make up the travelling support at the first European away, unless it's a big club.
  4. Yup that's basically how i read it too, so i'm assuming last seasons European aways + current aways to qualify. That means all 500 of us that got tickets to both Arnhem and Midtjylland must be more or less guaranteed tickets. Very happy with that, especially as they didn't allow us to use them on normal aways last season (not that it makes much of a difference to be in all honesty)
  5. Well i mean that ticks every box for a football song, obviously EVERYONE knows it, it's really high paced and you can just imagine it being belted out with gusto at a game...
  6. Not really sure he said anything wrong, going by the Watford game - which most will as they don't bother with friendlies as the standard of opposition is poor and team selection isn't the 1st 11 - i'd tend to agree with him. The way i see it our midfield isn't currently working as the players don't know the system. The thought of our fullbacks against United's strike force fills me with dread and unless Long or Austin has the game of their lives it's hard to see where goals will come from. Now that's not to say it'll stay the same all season, certainly with a couple of signings and time for the formation to bed, but for now i'd say our chances of beating a much improved United side, with a weaker Saints side is extremely low. Also i fully believe Mourinho will have a good idea of weaknesses, and expect us to be flooded in the midfield with Rooney and Zlatan pushing out when they break.
  7. Quite fancy Porto for an away day, would be a great place to go on the **** and we'd get decent numbers too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Does not compute... How the f*ck you function in the normal word baffles me to be honest, you must be almost constantly perplexed and frustrated about the nuances of life. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Well I'm definitely in the know on this one, it's got nothing to do with fonte why it hasn't happened, it's because the people recording the track couldn't get access to the main player they wanted due to pre season and it's currently stalled. Mind you the thing it was meant to be launching has stalled slightly too so it's not the end of the world Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I tend to agree on Franny, whilst he was far from being our greatest player what he's done since then, the fact he's genuinely Southampton (born and bred mush) and has been so involved with the club since his playing days should get him a spot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. read that about ten times and still can't make head nor tail of what you're trying to say.
  12. I'm hoping we bring back the brilliant and slightly like an invading nazi army hashtag we had during our last Europa campaign #wemarchoneurope [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. That's because Liverpool fc are genuinely one of the biggest clubs in the world and probably second only to united as the biggest in England. They have no need to scream it or force it down the throats of others because they know they are. Everton are clearly bigger than us, but if argue not by a significant amount. They're in the same bracket as villa, West Ham, Leeds and below the likes of Spurs and now a days Chelsea and man city. The funny thing is they're less successful than wolves and yet when thy come up they don't give it this grand old club thing. Also find it interesting people are forgetting that they stayed up in the mid 90s by some very suspect luck, and a fair few match going fans questioned how "fair" it was in an era of brown paper envelopes. Between that, Heath and their notorious racism (which went on until the early 90s) they've never been a team I've been massively fond of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. And hopefully with that excellent explanation of the financial realities we can stop talking about this for a bit
  15. Juventus did.
  16. Absolutely f*cking shocking, such a terrible song and i think it was started by that ***** in the stupid hat that seems to hang around anyone he can find at away games.
  17. Southampton is a one club city and as such we actually have a very good support outside of those that go regularly. I know myself a good 6/7 mates that are born and bred mushes who used to go regularly but now watch streams in pubs. The same lot will make an occasional game a season and maybe an away if thy can get tickets. The issue for them, the same as many, isn't the size of the ground, it's the cost. That's why they pick and choose and do only a couple a season. I'm sure you're correct in saying that we could, and can, turn out numbers around or even in excess of 45k for single games and I don't think anyone has argued that. The issue comes with can we do it regularly across the course of the season. In my mind the answer to that is that without a significant reduction in the price of ticket to around £15-£20 I don't think we could. People need to remember that on the whole Southampton itself isn't a rich city, and whilst we're lucky that it's normal on the estates that make up a fairy substantial part of Southampton to support saints, most of those there can't afford to go every week.
  18. Anyone know what time their steam train thing leaves Waterloo so us London based saints can avoid the delay it'll no doubt cause? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. The other question is should we qualify will the tickets be done on priority for those of us that made the aways in Europe last time or will it go on aways done this season? Since they didn't count the European aways against normal away priority this season for some strange reason. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. It's in the process of being gentrified but not quite there yet, but yeah it's not exactly nice
  21. I've lived in North London for going on 10 years now and love the area to be honest. It always makes me laugh when i hear the Saints fans singing it's a ****hole when it's pretty much the opposite. Obviously there's still sketchy areas, it's London there is everywhere, but it's got some cracking pubs. Also on the cracking north london pubs list - though more of an Arsenal away pub - is the Southampton Arms in Kentish town, great pub that is, only down side is it's cash only!
  22. North London is arguably one of the nicest parts of London, and in places like crouch end, Highbury, Stoke newington, Clapton pond and even parts of Manor House and Tottenham itself you have some of the most desirable parts of London to live. Depending on how close you want to be you have a myriad of choices, for family friendly there's a market on Tottenham green on a Sunday that does street food and craft beer, or you could drink in Stoke newington and get the overground to white hart lane, taking in some of the best pubs in London. Failing that there's a camara endorsed pub on harringay green lanes called the Salisbury that is a bus ride from whl and has been used for films due to its Victorian interior. There's also the Finsbury overlooking Finsbury Park near Manor House tube that has a big front garden and is a short hop to south Tottenham on the overground (about a 45 min walk or 13min bus ride from whl). Seven sisters lacks pubs but there's also the Antwerp near to Tottenham itself. Or if you want more quaint there's the ferry boat, over looking the ley valley reservoirs with a massive beer garden and decent food, which only a 20min walk to whl.
  23. Think that was before the game wasn't it? Must've been around '91 as i remember On The March doing a **** take quiz about "being the police". They basically turned up 30 mins late and nicked everyone in a ten metre radius of the pub including an old man and his grandson. Also didn't the skates CS gas the pub? Classy lot they were. There was definitely a win around 2003 to Hoddle sacked and we've snuck the odd draw, but it's a ground we have a fairly shocking record on in modern times.
  24. Clasie will be our player of the season next season, he has a touch of class that reminds me of Morgan. Especially when it comes to positioning and first touch. He's had a poorish season due to injuries but has shown enough to give me full confidence. Romeu is adequate cover for vic, but like him lacks in intelligence on the ball so has to put in extra work to win it back. Funnily enough the fact that Romeu tears around covering his own mistakes and clasie looks more silent due to his better positioning is why many saints fans prefer the weaker of the two players. Still I'm happy that the people that are employed to do it select the team and not our fanbase that've been consistently wrong about various players, from Morgan to Pelle b Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
