If that's true, what a great story for the grandkids and one to include in a pub quiz. Although, just googled it and this appears to be the consensus: The first person in England to receive a red card was Blackburn player Dave Wagstaff, on October 2nd in a game against Leyton Orient. The English FA stopped the use of red and yellow cards in 1981 as it was feared that these were part of the problem with crowd violence. In 1987 "the International Board, the rule-making body of the international game, said that England was out of step and should reintroduce cards for the 1987-88 season". Therefor the card system was reintroduced and the first player to get a red card after this was Luton Town's Mick Hartford who was sent off after just four minutes of the opening day of fixtures.

We got our comeuppance on bailey though didn't we? Seem to remember him getting merciless abuse when he next came to the dell (was it for everton by then?) and he ended up getting red carded if memory serves

It's scary Badger it really is. I was in the gym the other day feeling like i was 21. tying my shoelaces, looked up saw a guy in the mirror, thought "who is that old git" then realised it was me 😂

Well Brighton and Palace certainly looking to be on an upward curve last season - we'll see how it goes this coming season for them. Definitely wouldn't mind trading places with Leicester though. Yes, they had a poor season by their outstanding recent history, but they have been a shining light and everything we should be looking to emulate. Can't knock them at all.

God I hope not!

When you say another quality CB, do we actually already have one then?
-
Just ridiculous how dripping in talent they are isn't it

You got it! Apart from getting no work done, I was also staying up to the early hours every night in case the yacht was finally spotted in Southampton Water 😂

Paul Allen Summer is always worth dragging out for a reminisce every now and again. Such a belly laugh and such characters crawled out of the woodwork. I still have some messages from that nutter St David: Was an interested party, with a group of Americans but NOT Paul Allen, i have spoken to HMR (Lynn) and i recieved a call today from her contacts in America this afternoon. David Give me a call and i will tell you exactly the content of my call from America in the early housr of this morning. David 01573 430365

When my Dad died I was going through his old photos and I found one of him posing next to Duncan's grave. Was a big deal back in the day. Such a shame.

Yeah I get what you're saying about passion. It's ultimately why we all love this team even though they bring us such heartache. I get Fergie passion, I get Ralph shows passion. I get falling to your knees and crying because you just won the FA Cup Final. I don't get falling to your knees blubbing because you just beat the scousers 1-0 at home. It looked like weakness to me and I'm sure Klopp took it that way. A better show of passion would have been to go up to klopp and tell him this is what you get every time you come here. (unfortunately not the case given the woeful performance against their second string a few weeks back)

That's about right. On our excellent runs it really is 9/10 But the long dismal runs are probably 1/10. Can't be bothered to look up all the bad records he holds (mlg will do that) but off the top of my head - record loss in PL (and done it twice) Saints record for most number of games in a row without a win? Was there something about largest number of goals conceded away from home in a calendar year? And something else about most number of points dropped from a winning position? And the most unforgiveable one of all: blubbing when he beat Klopp

There are tools you can use that show you real time Twitter feeds. eg, set up a feed on the hastag #saintsfc and it shows all the tweets with that hashtag in real time. Tweetdeck is one such tool

Number of lives Hasenhutll has used up. Two to go

Yeah, not suggesting we would change - we are obviously going full-fat Ralph ball

You fishing Turkish 😂 Someone will bite no doubt

The stars are all aligning for another raid on us by the scousers. Watch out for any of our lads taking pleasure rides in blackpool and eating fish and chips with a geezer with shining gnashers

This brings back all the bad memories from last season. I had already started to forget...as have some others on here I fear

Any suggestions for those type of players? Of course you neglect to mention that really good players can adapt to any style of play, but I agree the average player we have bought in the past few years can't
-
Wow, that is extremely generous. Out of interest, one thing to try when asked to rate something out of ten - ban the use of 7. It forces you to go 6 or 8. Whatever we all think of him, this is last chance saloon for him so we'll see what happens.

No joke about it. The guy is a clown but thats for a different thread.
