  1. Probably not but you do know how fricking rich they are right?
  2. Not that simple though is it. Every penny would need re-investing on players who will improve the first team. Look what happened with the VVD money for example!
  3. Agreed - there was a time when a club like ours got these players and sold them on later for a profit. Seems those days are gone for top talent out of the lower leagues
  4. Yeah and Ralph also said the players hadn't gone on holiday in May. Full of shit
  5. He is going to be a top player. Unfortunately I think Spurs have a very good manager now and they are on the up
  6. Whether Ralph is responsible or not, the points are valid.
  7. It's what the scousers do, not just in football. Reference to the moaning about "parking the bus" - go on RAWK any weekend and this is their biggest gripe. Klopp says it all the time. Yeah, like teams should go there, go toe to toe and get on the end of a thrashing. I can't think of any manager who would... err.. be stupid enough to do that 🙂
  8. Not sure you could call it really good business getting in an unproven keeper when we are a shambles defensively. It is trying to do the best given are seemingly crap financial situation though/
  9. Another one who made no worthwhile contribution whatsoever
  10. Agreed and 3 of them performed well below a decent PL standard to say the least
  11. Will always be a hero of mine for his fuck ups in the UCL final
  12. The rich get richer as they say. Your point about the best youth being acquired by the big clubs is increasingly more and more true - Chelsea, Man City etc. I guess that's where we see the opportunity these days, but we're not the only ones. Brighton are currently successful picking up these youth players who can't see a route through to the first team and there will increasingly be more clubs in our bracket doing it
  13. The scousers blab on about how Man City bought the league etc but they fail to mention their own wage bill which I saw quoted as bigger than Burnley, Watford, Norwich, Leeds and Brentford combined
  14. Interesting. I also looked up Shilts - he made his debut at 16 and was apparently so good that Leicester sold Gordon Banks and kept him (they did end up relegated after a season though). Fun fact - at the age of 17, Shilts even managed to score a goal...against Saints
  15. i get the point you're trying to make, but it's equally valid to make a case for some experienced and proven pros in key positions which currently are massive problems for us. I'd also add that the players you are quoting - Sterling / Stones etc went into starting elevens much better than ours is currently. Out of interest, do you know of any 20 yr old keepers who have excelled from the off? Genuine question, not a challenge...
  16. You have quoted some of the finest players in the world there 🤣 It's what is called confirmation bias - you quote the success stories but ignore all the failures. As far "countless others" hmmm Don't necessarily disagree the lad won't do well and I hope he does. We need a mix of youth and level headed experience. Let's see what the summer brings.
  17. Well, you know it's a risk 🙂 I guess we'll see what happens once the window opens. Be interesting to see what is done to try and halt the 60++ goals we are conceding every season
  18. We also saw a fair few youngsters start brightly and fade away. I think we can all agree a mixture of youth and experience would be ideal. I'm just particularly nervous about GK and CB positions which are in obvious need of strengthening
  19. Experience matters because it helps with mindset and character. How to handle bad times, how to handle having played a bad game, knowing how to handle pressure of a big game, knowing what to do in certain situations. Anyway, I think I've flogged this one to death. Good luck to the lad if he is incoming.
  20. So if you had to undergo surgery, would you like the young promising surgeon or the experienced surgeon who has performed the op successfully many times? 🙂 Extreme example, I know but it gets over the point that all humans learn from experience and experience very much matters in how you perform something. This guy is still learning his trade and if he we had a decent number one already, it would be great, but we don't.
  21. Are you serious? The reason managers pick experienced players is because it's "a nice to have". Please. The best teams probably have a mixture of both experience and youth, but I'd always take an experienced player over an unexperienced one in key positions. This signing really wouldn't be that bad if we weren't conceding goals for fun each and every season with a no 1 who is questionable at best. If Shilts was still in nets, I'd be all for it. Hoping for some *experienced* CBs to come in at the very least now.
  22. I see your logic but i guess they could argue he performed at a level they wanted and paid for at the time and the reason for getting rid is they now want a player at the next level up. Therefore they want want they paid for him. Whereas we were certainly in no position to make that argument in Carillo's case
  23. Signing a guy who has made zero PL appearances and 70 odd in L1 when our so called number one regularly goes for 60 goals odd every season is pretty pathetic yes Comparing him with Livramento is just wrong. There were other players more than capable of filling his position - not the case for GK. Plus look what happened to Livramento when Ralph bizarrely persisted on playing him every game.
  24. Because he isn't shit
  25. Sure hope news on GKs and defenders incoming improves soon. For a team that conceded 4th highest amount of goals in the league last season and consistently ships goals over the past 3 or 4 seasons we do appear to be fiddling while Rome burns. We concede goals for fun as it stands but "I know...there's a really good young keeper...he is one for the future" Hoping we'll hear some better news soon.
