We aren’t 😉
-
Bridgwater have confirmed 1-0 result.
-
Burnley have looked hideously poor.
-
At the moment (according to Twitter) Ipswich are still losing 1-0 to Chichester, and Oxford are 1-0 down away to Bridgwater.
-
Tighter game than one would expect surely, Hounslow ship goals for fun.
-
You just don’t get it Ffs. We are not safe, we need 40 points.

Simple question but no obvious answer. Is it even realistic to ask for more given relative resources vs PL rivals? The simple question is, how much money have we got? Everton, Villa, Brighton, Palace, Leeds, basically every team around us who will stay in the Premier League this season (except Brentford tbf) will have a (much) higher net spend than us this season. Saints staying up relies on two things: a decent manager, and three teams (often promoted teams) who are even worse off than us and who equally don’t have a pot to piss in. We start each season financially fucked, we are millions and millions behind our peers who will finish the season around us. Sort that out, then we can talk about progress. Until then we are treading water at best.

Agreed. To be clear, I was asking @TWar my original question not to take the mickey at all, I actually enjoy statistical analysis alongside genuine game analysis. I’m a minor stats geek myself, I did an A Level many years ago in Mathematics with Statistics, loved it, and I guess lots of that stuck through my life. Plus I have a couple of friends who have done scouting and analytical analysis for premier league clubs before, and I found the reports were output from that (which they showed me) to be utterly fascinating. I just find it difficult to assign todays defeat alongside a genuine 0-4 result, so I question the analysis involved in that. Stats are very helpful a lot of the time, I’m just struggling square the circle of that xG number today. -

Personally I’m amazed we kept it to six. It was a phenomenal battering. -
With The Masters on? No thanks. Although bloody Scheffler crushing the field is making todays tv viewing even less pleasurable.

Ok ta. I think I disagree, given their misses / Forster’s saves. I’d have been very happy to get away with a 4-0 after that. But there we go. -

England beat San Marino by that margin not very long ago, didn’t they? -

Just out of interest, do you think the xG matched your opinion from what you watched from the game today? I guess I’m asking if you thought 4-0 (rounded down) was a more accurate reflection of the actual, gameplay that the 6-0 result. Genuine question. -

It was, I did know that. I guess I’m just purging all of my Saints thrashing memories, there’s lots to go through. Dont get me started on going to Goodison Park for 7-1…. -

Arsenal in the week before the FA Cup final at 6-0 was, yeah, not ideal preparation. -
Is that Jamie/dullDays/Batman/Alex’s work colleague?

Not in the league, but see also the 4-3 reverse against Tranmere after being 3 up Ffs. -

It wasn’t too far away in time from when we went to WHL and got done 7-2. Again, I think we were 1-0 up and 2-1. I’d be surprised if, in Premier League terms anyway, there’s been a side who have fucked up a two+ goal lead more than Saints have. Just off the top of my head I reckon I could get to double figures of times we’ve turned a 2 goal lead into a defeat. -

Saints 2 Tottenham 6 was pretty embarrassing, Ronnie Rosenthal was our nemesis that evening. Think we were 2-0 up at half time as well. -
Net spend table over the past 5 years. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/fuenfjahresvergleich/wettbewerb/GB1 We are absolutely miles behind our ‘peers’. The only sides with a lower net spend than us are going down this season.

Watford were our bogey side for a bit around then, I remember going up to vicarage Road and they beat us 3-0 there, we didn’t lay a glove on them. -
Pele was a bit of a liability at the back to be fair. Graziano on other hand… 😉

In February we played 4 games. Brentford 4-1, Broja scored and was very good. Man United 1-1, MOTM. Everton 2-0, Sky said in their report that Broja “impressed again”. Norwich 2-0, I’d suggest he didn’t have a great game. so, 3 out of 4 looking very good and part of an unbeaten team. I’m sorry, but your posts do seem to I dictate a bias towards Broja. Nobody is doubting he’s dropped off lately but I think you go out of your way to over egg it.
