  1. He started it, Miss.
  2. Agreed. Our historical kits can be seen here. http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Southampton/Southampton.htm Commercialisation of kits really got going at roughly the same time shirt sponsorship kicked in. I’ve always loved the red and white 1976 kit, and also the rank xerox. Hummel/draper was our best stripes kit IMO. After that, I find pretty much all of our regular striped kits extremely boring. Some are really terrible (Pony and Under Armour especially) but the rest are just a history of averageness. The only times I’ve really liked our kits of late are when we deviate from the norm: the sash kits and the revived rank xerox were excellent (we’ll leave out the Cortese fuck ups as they should be stricken from history). I’m coming to the conclusion that I’m fed up with stripes and wouldn’t mind a deviation away. Our side’s history and our formation were based on sides playing in sash, quarters and halves. Yes, for the true purists, Southampton football club started its days wearing red and white stripes, but our formative clubs played in those others. And times change. I’d go permanently red and white halves and make it ours, no other team in England’s top divisions have got that and it’s a real nod to our formative years. Mix it up with a sash and a quarters kits every now and then too. #sackoffthestripes
  3. The Denmark half and half was absolutely tremendous. I find that mock up a complete abomination. The 1976 mock up is a beauty though.
  4. Yeah, seen that one before. Hopefully it’s next season but if not, we know it’s in the pipeline.
  5. Hummel half and half recreation please. Failing that, I’d like to see Saints do ‘a Feyenoord’ and have a full on red and white halved shirt, with black shorts and black or white socks. We’ve had the sash, which was great. We did quarters for the last Dell game. We’ve never done red and white halves since they were initially worn in the 1800s.
  6. I would hope we get rid and get someone better, though I can’t see too many teams being ready to throw tons of money at us for Bednarek. And the scouting hardly did wonders for Lyanco, at a fee rumoured around £6-£7m he was hardly cheap and it would seem from subsequent comments that he’s now barely good enough for 4th choice CB with us.
  7. He was crap for us, terrible defender.
  8. Depends how much money we’ve got, but IMO a new keeper is a priority. But then we’ve got other priorities too (new centre back, striker if Broja goes, ‘number 10’). A new, decent keeper is likely to cost £10m+ transfer fee plus wages. As we saw with Gunn, spending a lot doesn’t guarantee quality, so if a keeper isn’t deemed a top priority we may end up keeping FF. hopefully Ralph has his eye on a bargain though.
  9. Yes. Yes it was.
  10. Shots 4, shots on target 0, sums his game up.
  11. It’s often overlooked that Salisu is still only 22 years old. He’s got great promise but he’s still got plenty to learn. Bad mistake from him today, just very naive defending.
  12. The Saints website doing a bang on job of reporting on the game…..
  13. He made some good moves and got into some good positions. But his shooting was utterly atrocious, he just he seemed to mis-hit absolutely everything.
  14. I dont think this is our strongest line up, but I think Ralph has put it out as what he thinks for the best chance of staying in / winning the game. As said above, we’re going to be feeding off scraps and he maybe thinks the best way to work with that is to have his front two just working their socks off, with the option to bring on the starting strike force when their defence is a bit more tired. At least I hope that’s the thinking….
  15. Broja could do with sitting one out, not sure on dropping Adams though. Let’s see how Long and Armstrong work together, they’re going to be feeding off scraps for much of the game.

Standard practise at Sierra Nevada ski resort, which is in southern Spain just a short ride from Granada and a couple of hour’s drive from Malaga. The non-pisted snow is consistently covered in a sheen of wind blown Saharan sand, it’s a strange but brilliant environment to ski in.
  17. I think he said he used to go to games with his Dad. Maybe old man MLG holds the flask and other goodies.
  18. Pretty sure he does/did go to games, quite a bit. Agreed on the final sentence.
  19. I remember that they ransacked the school next door (Springhill?) and went on the rampage against all and sundry.
  20. No, nothing is confirmed yet. It won’t affect too much on Chelsea’s upcoming away games as tickets have already been sold, and they’ll be honoured. They can’t just sell any more from this point. According to Simon Jordan yesterday, the away side get 10% of ticket costs, so not quite nothing but certainly not a large sum at all, somewhere around £10k depending on ticket price. Chelsea’s Saints away tickets had not gone on sale to fans, so I guess the situation is fluid and there could be a few options available. I think for the very fact that policing a home only game could be a logistical nightmare, there will be some form of compromise to allow away fans to get tickets.
  21. No.it’s definitely a decent solution. Also, take timekeeping out of the referee’s hands. No reason to keep it there other than ego and tradition. And while,I’m at it…..referees, just blow when time is up, not when a corner has been taken or an attacking move has completed or a goal kick is taken. It’s simple,m there should be a definite point when the ga e stops, refs are awful at only doing it when a move is completed. I guess the fact is that the ball is only in play for roughly 60 minutes, and the other 30 minutes are just filler and time wasting, is too embarrassing for the authorities to handle. So there won’t be a change.
  22. When it says ‘The Kraken has been released’ then you know you’re in trouble 😉
  23. Pompous is the right word. He’s clearly intelligent but has got the MLG tendency of being in absolute despair when wrong, and just acts like a stuck up know it all most of the time.
  24. Fucking called it. Any striker who is on a duff run of form, roll up, we’ll let one in for you Ffs.
  25. What do you mean now? Che Adams was criticised before he’d even played for us for the way he finished.
