  1. It was, I did know that. I guess I’m just purging all of my Saints thrashing memories, there’s lots to go through. Dont get me started on going to Goodison Park for 7-1….
  2. You’re right, sorry! I was doing us a disservice!
  3. Arsenal in the week before the FA Cup final at 6-0 was, yeah, not ideal preparation.
  4. Is that Jamie/dullDays/Batman/Alex’s work colleague?
  5. Not in the league, but see also the 4-3 reverse against Tranmere after being 3 up Ffs.
  6. It wasn’t too far away in time from when we went to WHL and got done 7-2. Again, I think we were 1-0 up and 2-1. I’d be surprised if, in Premier League terms anyway, there’s been a side who have fucked up a two+ goal lead more than Saints have. Just off the top of my head I reckon I could get to double figures of times we’ve turned a 2 goal lead into a defeat.
  7. Saints 2 Tottenham 6 was pretty embarrassing, Ronnie Rosenthal was our nemesis that evening. Think we were 2-0 up at half time as well.
  8. Net spend table over the past 5 years. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/fuenfjahresvergleich/wettbewerb/GB1 We are absolutely miles behind our ‘peers’. The only sides with a lower net spend than us are going down this season.
  9. Watford were our bogey side for a bit around then, I remember going up to vicarage Road and they beat us 3-0 there, we didn’t lay a glove on them.
  10. Pele was a bit of a liability at the back to be fair. Graziano on other hand… 😉
  11. In February we played 4 games. Brentford 4-1, Broja scored and was very good. Man United 1-1, MOTM. Everton 2-0, Sky said in their report that Broja “impressed again”. Norwich 2-0, I’d suggest he didn’t have a great game. so, 3 out of 4 looking very good and part of an unbeaten team. I’m sorry, but your posts do seem to I dictate a bias towards Broja. Nobody is doubting he’s dropped off lately but I think you go out of your way to over egg it.
  12. Don’t disagree with that, his inability to shut up shop is his biggest failing IMO.
  13. Sums it up for me. Ralph has his flaws but I’ll take the ups and downs under him plus our one-a-season bumming if it means we actually get a few games a season to be proud of. Which we do.
  14. Over the past 5 years Saints have been close to cash neutral for transfers in and out. We’ve basically spent only what we’ve brought in, we’ve been bottom or close to it every season in the net spend league. Given that, how much are we expecting the team to improve?
  15. Kind of agree. Ralph frustrates the fuck out of us, perhaps because his sides are either brilliant or abject, there’s often little in between. But he’s very much working with the shackles on. Todays performance is as much down to the players as it is Ralph. Not too much wrong with the starting lineup, just an embarrassment from the players, and Ralph hasn’t done anything decent to shore it up.
  16. The ceiling is high with this one.
  17. The club will listen to offers for any of our players tbf. Redmond is a strange one, I know he’s a bit hit and miss but it’s a surprise to see him so frozen out. Binning off the other two would be no loss but I can’t see who would interested.
  18. Well, it made me lol, anyway.
  19. Tbf the muni is a really good layout. If it were a private club it could be tip top with some decent investment.
  20. There’s already an extra team in the southern division compared to the northern (14 to 13) so for now it may not be worth worrying about. If they do decide to even it up, one would think that it’s would work in the same way relegation in the regional men’s leagues works. In previous years, if there has been a disparity of clubs relegated compared to promoted that leaves a regional imbalance, a team from say the south division has moved to the northern division to even it up. It’s typically done based on geography, so a team from the midlands (or as close to) has been the ones to go (though Oxford City and Gloucester have done it previously so it does go further).
  21. Perfect tandem. Bale takes them from the right hand side, JWP from the left, toss a coin for the ones in the middle. I couldn’t care less who scores as long as it goes in.
  22. Worth pointing out also that in 10 of those games he was a substitute. Really quite impressive. In all competitions, 16 goals from 19 starts and 15 sub appearances. Bale is still quality, we would never get him but idea that he wouldn’t improve our team/squad is preposterous.
  23. Forster Clyne - Alderweireld - Van Dijk - Bertrand JWP - Schneiderlin Lallana - Mane - Tadic Ings Manager: Mauricio Pochettino Subs: Boruc, KWP, Shaw, Fonte, Wanyama, Cork, S Davis, S Armstrong, Pelle Squad: McCarthy, Lovren, Romeu, JRod, Lambert
  24. Yeah, I don’t doubt Germany will be a threat. It’s just that normally you’d say they’re in the top 3 as favourites, and you’d be desperately hoping to avoid them. This year it seems it’s very flat at the top with no significant front runners. As I see it I reckon any of the seeds plus Germany could win the tournament. It’s wide open.
