A sad case of yet another in the long line of players who have failed to settle on the south coast.

The one by the station was a complete w*nker-magnet. As we got there last season, one young scroat was being thrown out for under-age drinking, and then got arrested after he spat in the face of the bouncer. His pr*ck mates were then giving it the large one from a safe distance. We had a couple of Reading fans with us and managed to talk our way into one of the "home" pubs (which actually had about 25% Saints fans inside anyway).

You linked images from a forum that requires a user name and password to log in. The images were therefore protected content. In such instances its better to not nick their bandwidth and just rehost the images at somewhere free like www.tinypic.com and link from there. Lots of places have restrictions in place to stop hotlinking.

I think I read that his kids are Saints fans and he sometimes takes them to games.

So Pompey now need to win every one of their last 6 games to have any chance of staying up if the minus ten gets applied this season. Small potatoes, of course. Its minus ten next year that we're all hoping for. They currently are 7 points from the safety point, but they do have a better GD. Oldham are one place above them and still in the relegation zone but are 6 points ahead and have 2 games in hand.

Its not so much that signing Ramirez stopped us going for an expensive defender. There's simply no proof of that. For me, its that we were unwilling to go out and spend that much on CB or GK in the first place. Whatever the reasons are, we didn't do that. We got a great cheaper signing in Clyne, but IMO Yoshida was a cheap gamble and isn't good enough for a top ten aspiring PL team, so if we want to push on I think he'll need to be replaced. Fonte is good for defensive cover going forwards, and its clearly far too early to judge Forren but what i did see of him didn't convince me that he's the big, dominant CB I fell we're crying out for; someone in the Hangelande mould. Forren isn't that, he's only the same size as Yoshida who isn't big for a CB himself. As for your last paragraph; does anyone think he hasn't been a beneficial addition to the club? The question has always been the cost/value (transfer fee and wages) and whether that could have been spent better in other more deficient areas.

Astori's price tag was £12M, which we reportedly were scared off by (figures at the time suggested we'd only go as high as £9M or £10M). Are the two related? Who knows. But we stretched ourselves with Gaston and didn't think the outlay was worth it for Astori. And we clearly didn't spend anywhere near that amount on areas I and others at the time deemed more necessary (CB and GK).

Nothing wrong with moving back in with your parents after uni. Granted, its not the easiest thing to live at home after being away for 3 or 4 years, but a sensible thing to save cash and find your feet. I moved back in with my mum and dad for 2 years after I graduated, worked abroad for a couple of years, and came back to the parents for another 6 months after that before buying my first place. Short term loss for long term gain, its all too easy with a struggling job market for youngsters te get in a spiral of renting and debt. Get yourself back to uni, lad.

Or is it funny that so many people seem to miss the point that £12M and whatever in wages could possibly have been spent much more efficiently in other areas of the pitch and provided more overall benefit to the team this season? That SFC negelected other positions and such expenditure in favour of a player for the future. That, for this season, when survival was 9and still is) the absolute key, consolidation could have been achieved by a different transfer policy.

By claiming opinions that others don't have. Claiming Baz has "written off" Ramirez as a player. Others in this thread claiming that any dissenter of Ramirez, his cost and the value of his transfer fee think he is "rubbish". It's as if you're creating an argument you want to have, rather than dissecting an opposing point of view for what it actually is.

Precisely Baz. Ramirez is a decent player, and clearly our most skillful player. I don't think I've ever seen anyone deny that; yet the trolls on here try to attribute a "he's rubbish" attitude to anyone who says he's not the best use of resources for what we needed at the time.

Again Stevo; who has said he is rubbish? Too many people trying to back up their opinions of Ramirez by applying a false opinion of others. Trolling behaviour, some might say.

I think you missed the point by quite some distance there :lol: And I don't believe that Gaston is rubbish. Why do various people on here feel they need to make things up and attribute a false opinion to others to try to make a point? Its really bizarre.

If that's your benchmark then even MLT was surpassed in those stakes in his day (although he contributed a goal of much humour on the same day).

It's got nothing to do with whether I rate him or not. I thought it was a fairly simple question; you said some of his finishing has been world class. I just wondered which of his finishes you put in that category.
