See if you can make head or tail of this comment from Micah Hall which attempts to answer that very point.

I don't buy that. At all. According to Pompey fans they sold around 8,000 season tickets this season. And the cash for those gets released on a game by game basis, as the games are played; so that's the bulk of ticket money coming in to them on a regular basis (whether the ST holders turn up or not). Pompey's last 2 or 3 games have averaged around 11 thousand; take off the 8,000 ST holders and lets say 500 away fans, there's a balance of 2,500 customers who buy a ticket for a game. So, if they played the kids, they're at risk of losing up to 2,500 ticket sales. At a ticket price of £20 (which is generous), and with 23 home games in 9 months a home game just under every 2 weeks, so probably around £30,000 per week in ticket sales; that's only 9 or 10 players, and they've got double that on the staff!! That's fag packet maths in the extreme; but there's a financial case to be made for binning off all of the playing staff when their contracts next expire and saving on 18 or 19 sizeable salaries. Even if it means they only get the season ticket money and away fans money, they could actually save money!!

And why would you, for goodness sake??!! If an administrator can't level the ship and racks up debts of £1M (plus God knows whatever they're taking out in fees) then what hope does a bunch of potless amateurs have? I very much admire the determination and effort the PDT have put in; but (as predicted many, many, many time) they really should have taken the hit, folded, wiped out all previous debts and started from scratch. They were too desperate to cling on to their golden share to do that, and are being slowly killed because of it.

I've seen them play twice this season. Brian Howard is hated down there, but he's far too good for League 1. Izale McLeod is one of the top scorers in the league (he's pretty hated too; can you see a pattern developing?). Gyepes is/was a Hungarian international, Lee Williamson was wanted by Sheff Utd and other top clubs at the start of the season. And yes; all of their players except a couple of youngsters can walk away for free and join another club in January (while Pompey can't offer them anything longer than a 1 month contract until they get taken over).
-
Bear with me; this is a radical idea. But if they're losing so much money, why don't they get rid of their high earning players and either get some (much) cheaper ones or, God forbid, play some of the kids??

Wahay!! Tricky Trev and PKF's f*ck up has just hit hard. Portpin later issued a statement, saying: "The proposed purchaser of the stadium was simply not in a position to fund the purchase even at the minimum price PST offered. This has been a huge waste of time and money. Legal costs of around £400,000 have been awarded to us against the administrators, money that we are going to pursue administrators personally through the courts, to do all we can to ensure that the club does not have to pay. "In what has already been the most expensive and longest running administration in the history of English football, there can be no further delays if this club is to survive."

POL's own version of Matthew Le God asks a very pertinent question. Well, you see FMR. It was pointed out by us nutjobs that Pompey's players were on high, unsustainable wages; Pompey fans chose to ignore that and called us ignorant, and not knowing the facts. Turns out we're right? Who'd have thought....

Corp Ho isn't a happy bunny (Hi Corp, by the way; we know you love looking on here despite all your protestations to the contrary).
-
Nabil Hassan @NabilHassan79 Portpin say PKF have admitted mistake of overlooking a general 'floating charge'.:lol::lol: £3M well spent!!! Good work Trev.

Ashley Brown, Chairman of the PDT, speaking to BBC.

Chinny would absolutely love that turn of events. It would remove the need for a community sports solution on the Fratton land, as the football club would have a new home.

PDT Official Statement Although it is frustrating not to have a final outcome this week, as we had hoped, we welcome the opportunity for the administrators PKF to return to the courts between now and January and finalise our purchase of Portsmouth Football Club. This has always been a complex deal with several component parts – including some which have been outside of our control – and every part of the bid needs to be absolutely right to be approved by the courts and the administrators. We know any delay is frustrating for fans, but we are committed to completing the purchase of Portsmouth Football Club as soon as possible. We are extremely grateful to our supporters for their terrific support, and we continue urging our fans to pledge and be part of the biggest community club in the country. We are confident that we will be owners of Portsmouth Football Club in the next few weeks, and will continue to work on every last detail of our bid until this process is complete.

@NabilHassan79: #pompey trust chairman Ashley Brown tells BBC Sport: "We're very pleased with that decision that is exactly the result we wanted." @NabilHassan79: A Brown says PST's business plan can survive without 'floating charge' money (£2m) but admits involvement of Stuart Robinson is uncertain. Its beginning to make sense now. PKF found out very late that Stuart Robinson has now gotten massively cold feet and wants a way out of the deal. Most importantly, he won't front up as the buyer for the purposes of the court case. In order to ask the judge to rule in their favour, PKF need to demonstrate there is a buyer willing and able to pay the £2.75M on offer for Fratton. Suddenly, they do not have that. And without that, PKF's case collapses. So, the only route left open to PKF is to adjourn for another month and get the PDT to find someone else to fund their amateur venture. They can then return to court with an investor who can/will pay the £2.75M, and they have the basis to start the case. Winning it is another matter altogether. So its perhaps no wonder that the PDT are delighted with today's outcome. It is the only outcome that doesn't torpedo their bid, they now have another month to find an alternative funding source. And the council are ruled out; Chinny's bid is still suspended and therefore technically on the table. So the PDT need to find another developer willing to risk it all on Fortress Fatpipes. Good luck with that.
-
Its ok; a PDT spokesman has stepped forward on POL to ask the Fratton faithful for calm. I think someone has been shopping at the Rupert Lowe Store of Analogies.
-
Considering yesterday the PDT didn't know what the f*ck was going on, I'll put that down to optimistic bluster and saying something for the sake of saying something.
-
Neil Allen@pn_neil_allen As it is, around a month for Trust to iron out issues raised by PKF before returning approx January 15. In other words, around a month to find some other mug who'll part with £2.75M and gift the PDT with a football ground.
-
I've always thought that. I said back in September that I couldn't see a takeover going through before Xmas. I'm thinking before the end of the season might be optimistic at this rate.
-
Micah Hall @blueballoo2000 Great news about the adjournment - we'll do this now - you bet!
-
Dan Brett @DanBrett90 It won't seem like it now, but a big win for #Pompey today - PKF to continue as administrators, rather than Portpin's option of Guilfoyle. Massive win!!!!!
-
Trevor Birch must love working with the PDT. They're so desperate that they'll pander to his every whim, stretch the whole takeover out for as long as possible, let him keep clocking up those charges; and they're still happy with him!! Money for old rope, and Tricky Trev is milking it for all it's worth. So, January 15th court date. Even if PKF win it'll take a while longer for the takeover to go through and for the league to ratify it all. By which time the transfer window has nearly closed. Ho ho ho.
-
Neil Allen @pn_neil_allen Judge’s decision well received by Trust. Worst case scenario would new administrator appointed by Portpin and back to square one.
-
POL goons not best pleased with today's turn of events.
-
Neil Allen@pn_neil_allen Adjourned until January 15 or if any developments arise before then.
-
Its ok, Neil has done his sums again and got it right this time. Neil Allen@pn_neil_allen PKF seeking adjournment for 28 days - January 15 Hang on a minute.......
-
Neil obviously didn't study maths at school. Neil Allen@pn_neil_allen PKF seeking adjournment for 27 days - January 15
