Ooh. That's a novel thought. I'll be honest, I haven't given it any consideration before now.

To be fair, it shouldn't need to have been confirmed by a source to see that was the case. Redknapp quite obviously lost all focus at Tottenham, and was constantly trumpetting the fact that he saw his future away from the football club. As a chairman you simply can't let that slide; especially so after it led to them bungling a Champions League place from a previous huge lead. Once Redknapp publically announced himself as a candidate for the England job and continued to whore himself around for it so often, it was clear that he'd have to leave Spurs one way or the other. -
Pat, it seems like no-one can properly answer your fantastically challenging and thought-provoking questions. Perhaps you could enlighten us why YOU think these issues are the case? (Or just copy the answers over from TUI, of course).

2-0 Guly, really, as he scored both goals that gave us victory against Zaha's side. As you say; the fact that Zaha still stalks about it shows that it got to him, and probably still does. Throw in all Zaha's other comments and he seems a little bit of a delicate flower when it comes to a war of words; probably best for his sake that he does as he suggests he has learnt to do now - put his head down, try to ignore and don't bite back.

Thankfully youth football in england is starting a new revolution, where results of the team become secondary to development of the skills of the player. JWP (17 years old) and Luke Shaw (17 years old) have already broken into the first team at an extremely young age for a footballer; they still have plenty of development yet. For years in the PL we typically had a team in the reserve leagues that performed well in the league. It meant f*ck all back then; it means little now. Especially when the first team is being drip fed with talent as it is.

The idea of bringing a sub on (unless to replace an injured player) is to change the game somewhat, often tactically. So previous tactics kind of go out of the window; the manager and coaches will have more than enough time to relay to the player coming on what is expected of him once he is introduced.

Yes, there is. But, in this best case scenario, the PST only have to raise £3M within the next 5 years to buy their ground. Shouldn't be too hard.....

Same team as against Swansea except for I'd bring in Mayuka instead of Puncheon. With Puncheon cutting in from the right all the time, Lallana doing the same from the left, we're too predictable and don't ever really look to get in behind teams. That, and tell Gazza to lump it upfield if he's in danger or if the player he's looking to chip it up to is being closed down by probably the quickest player on the pitch.

Definitely Federico Arias; I went to St. mary's to see his first showing for the reserves; he looked utterly dreadful with the ball but, even more worryingly, there was absolutely no sign whatsoever of the electric pace that we'd heard so much about. And they called him the torpedo. Thankfully his uselessness was sussed about before he made a first team bow.

If it wasn't before then it certainly became one with your "as I said in the summer" rant.

Jack Cork is being blamed for playing a safe backpass to the keeper? Ok then
-
I really hope you're miltonroader's son. That would be super.

Yep; was having this chat with a Liverpool supporting mate of mine who suggested they had one of the youngest teams/squads. That said I think I'd have preferred it if we'd signed a decent experienced GK and CB to add to that; I don't think we have the balance of youth and experience quite right.

I think we can agree that its f*cking brilliant to see them there. Implosion ahoy; losing to Bury must be a bitter pill to swallow. Lovely stuff.
-
Yep, well in Jocky. I was happier with the side today. Punchy still doesn't do it for me but I'm a big Jack Cork fan and I think him being back is huge. Sorry to say I don't rate JRod, and especially not playing up front with Lambert, so for me today's formation had more balance about it. Shame we gifted it to them; but lets take the positives. Should have won. And its the first league game this season we've let in less than 2 goals. 3 points would have been brillient, but a decent performance and points against QPR now becomes vital.

You can argue MLT's contribution has been negative if you wish, Wes. I just wish it didn't have to be such a polarised either-or argument; that to stick up for your chairman means you have to denigrate a playing legend, or that supporting MLT et al means that you're somehow against the chairman. My "priority" is that we run the business on an even keel, succeed on the pitch, and try to maintain the principles of our history. We could do all that, but choose not to. I know not why.

What are you talking about; Celebration Plaza was a roaring success.....

That's your twitter account, isn't it? It's a sh*thouse lineup, as well.

This is a very good point, actually. Nick isn't everyone's cup of tea; he's certainly not been mine before with his grandstanding "Saints Trust Chairman" interviews with local and national media. But he's a bloody loyal Saints fan, and having his season ticket revoked for administering a public Saints forum and expressing an opinion was crass, unnecessary and blatantly childish by the club. Yet the reaction was mostly "good, he's a c*nt anyway" and "well, if he wants to be a customer he should toe the party line and not write horrible things about the club". I mean, really? As with the shoddy treatment of MLT, our apathetic fanbase will shy away into the shadows, lest we upset the chairman and (God forbid) he walks away. It's really bizarre how fans will back a banker owner over an absolute legend of a player who loves the club with a passion.

Brilliant. This thread is simply brilliant.
