  1. In general I agree with you. Duck makes a reasonable point though, it’s not quite that cut and dried. But I do believe that if you voluntarily leave the party to defect to another then it should trigger a by-election. But I’m sure there would still be more loopholes to be found.
  2. I had a quick skim of their forum, they largely reckon have zero chance of affording him unless they get promoted. It also relies on what their injured keeper does when he gets back, they seem to really rate him but think he might be destined for a higher level one way or the other.
  3. Ok, must have both been in injury time, I checked just before the 90 were up and it was zero at that point.
  4. It’s only qpr but Stoke didn’t allow a shot on target until injury time. Thats the type of defence Baz needs to play behind.
  5. Todays google answer to “what is a Marxist fascist.” A "Marxist fascist" is a contradiction in terms, as Marxism and Fascism are fundamentally opposing ideologies: Marxism aims for classless, international worker solidarity against capitalism, while Fascism, from a Marxist perspective, is a brutal dictatorship of finance capital designed to crush socialist movements and preserve capitalist power through extreme nationalism, militarism, and suppression of class struggle, often mobilizing the desperate middle class against workers. While some regimes called themselves "Marxist" (like Stalinist Russia) and were accused of fascism (or vice versa) by opponents, classic Marxist theory sees fascism as capitalism's violent tool against the working class, not a form of socialism
  6. Call me old fashioned if you will, but I’ll probably wait another 3 years until deciding where my vote goes in the general. The locals are very different and are often used to protest at something. In the local elections of 2023 the greens got a candidate elected in Portswood when a Labour clean sweep was expected, a major factor of that was a protest against the disastrous bus gate where Labour were perceived to have done very little to serve the wishes of local residents affected.
  7. Yes, it’s definitely funny that a thread started 4 years ago about a 16 year old would be bumped to update on his progress. Very funny indeed.
  8. And somehow has the gall to call others intolerant. Genuine self-reflection bypass.
  9. This is exactly it as far as I’m concerned. A really good local MP is one who makes themselves available as much as possible for their constituents and gets fully involved with local matters. The problem comes in that it’s a different skill set to be a good local MP and to be a good minister. Ministers should probably be paid more, but then the ladder to becoming one requires you for the most part to start at local level. So it’s a difficult balance. People like Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer weren’t put off of getting into politics because the money was bad. But I doubt either of them were particularly devoted local MPs, they always had aspirations for ministerial roles. There’s a place for that and also one for someone who just wants to spend their time locally. So it’s a difficult balance. I would want my MP to be active in the community and to be available for meeting constituents by appointment, then acting on the issues that they can. And to have a small staff who can triage all that (rather than just use their budget for employing family members). I don’t think that job role requires a leap in funding from what it already is.
  10. Loan with an option to buy, by the looks of it.
  11. Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, Slow Horses. Tom Hardy as Alfie Solomons, Peaky Blinders. Martin Sheen as Jed Bartlet, The West Wing.
  12. Christ. Peretz made Bazunu look good there.
  13. Just saw the goal on TNT’s roundup programme.
  14. What channel is it on? Got about a million channels ffs but can’t find it.
  15. Weird for the Saints twitter site to list the players in that order. The BBC often have jumbled up positions but the SFC listing is typically representative of the lineup. If that lineup is actually correct then
  16. When we were in the Prem, AMc’s wages were rumoured to be up around £50k per week. Bazunu a good deal lower. Dont know how much they came down after relegation but you’d suggest that a championship club can’t really sustain either of those levels on a third choice keeper who won’t be expected to play a single game. If this new lad Peretz comes straight into the side, I’d err more on the side of Baz going out on loan rather than AMc. If Baz is usurped he’ll take that as a sign that he hasn’t got a long term future here. As said, AMc is out if contract come summer so likely already planning his next move then while coining some bank up to that point.
  17. I dislike the 3 CB and 2 holding midfielders setup as much as the next man. But Eckert isn’t telling an outright lie about a lack of full backs. Up to very recently we didn’t have a proper right back - Jelert and Mads injured, Bree on loan. And Manning the only fit left back. I don’t think we had any decent option to play at right back; Edwards probably the most likely candidate, and I don’t think that’s a good fit. Also Tonda got off to a rocket start and Fellows plugged the gap nicely. The last few games, very much not and with Jelert back and available that excuse no longer stands up. I would like to think Eckert is not completely wedded to one particular system but I’m yet to be convinced. The tactics of late have been dire and the overwhelming amount of subs we make are like for like swaps.
  18. You’re having a laugh. Manning comes in for absolute dogs abuse on here, and Captain Jack is derided all the time. When other defenders make their usual cock ups they get consistently called out for it.
  19. If he doesn’t there is zero point in signing him.
  20. Not quite the way I recall it. He was given a great deal of autonomy under Markus and a bag full of cash, he was constantly saying things like “we will always break even, we won’t lose money like lots of other clubs”. Turned out when Kat took over that we had substantial loans and the club was losing plenty of money. And so he was told to get finances solid or get out, he did the latter. He was a mental little man but, oh my, he had an excellent record for recruitment of managers.
  21. According to the counter protesters, they also don’t like the agitated flag wavers inside either. This is a message I received on it. All I can say is that I walked past the protests a couple of times and both sides were absolutely chock full of bellends who should know better. Southampton Stand Up To Racism – Statement on the closure of Ceno Bar The closure of Ceno Bar is sad news for Portswood, and for the workers and residents affected. It is important, however, to be clear about the context. Highfield House Hotel has been home to asylum seekers since 2020. During those years, local businesses — including Ceno Bar — operated alongside it without incident. What changed was not the presence of asylum seekers. What changed was the emergence of the far-right group calling themselves “Southampton Patriots”. Over recent months, their repeated demonstrations outside the hotel — often two or three times a week and lasting for hours — have caused serious disruption. Local residents have experienced noise, intimidation and disturbance. Police time and resources have been repeatedly diverted to manage alcohol-fuelled protests that brought tension into a residential area. This environment has consequences. Footfall drops. People stay away. Businesses suffer. It was deeply unhelpful that far-right activists were reportedly allowed to use Ceno Bar as a base, reinforcing the perception that the protests were being tolerated or enabled. Many local people understandably chose not to frequent the venue as a result. Attempts to blame asylum seekers or the hotel for the bar’s closure are misplaced and unfair. The facts are clear: Ceno Bar traded successfully for years alongside the hotel. Its decline followed the start of sustained far-right activity last summer. Portswood is a diverse, welcoming community. Residents and businesses want peace, safety and cohesion — not division, intimidation or racism. Asylum seekers are part of our community and deserve dignity and respect. Racism and far-right agitation have no place in Portswood.
  22. Misguided Weapon is the better sobriquet IMO.
  23. I just watched the Old Firm Derby, Rangers came back from 1-0 down at half time to win 3-1 at Celtic. The ex a Celtic pundit afterwards was lamenting that the new manager instantly brought in a 3 CB system and it just isn’t working. And despite being 2 goals down and chasing the game, he changed nothing. Danny Röhl meanwhile made a tactical change at half time and the difference was night and day. The difference between a flexible manager, and one wedded to a system. Sounds familiar.
  24. No. That was West Stand iirc.
  25. Either that or pissed again.
