Normally I say Norwich please for obvious reasons but not this year. In 2003, once we smashed Spurs 4 nil in the 3rd round, we had easier teams right up until the final. I want that again, especially as it means the fringe players can still get a regular look in. Eastleigh would be a great local derby so that please but anyone from a lower league would do. Kieffer Moore it is then. I see we've been linked with free agent Matthew Sorinola, previously played under Martin at Swansea - but with Meghoma playing like he did today, it begs the question of whether we should block his pathway or not.

No need to get out of second gear really. No disrespect to Walsall as we've been stung by lower league clubs in the past but you could see there was a gulf in quality today. We're playing well and the club is filled with a positive attitude right now and that has rubbed off on the fringe players. Meghoma did look good today and I was impressed with his pace and vision. I saw him in one of the pre-season friendlies and he didn't impress me then so he's come on leaps and bounds since then. A good back up for Manning while Bree and Larios are out - in fact Manning better watch out for his place!

Joe Lumley must be the most patient man in the world. Waits months for a game and then hardly has to do anything. The life of the back up keeper. Speaking of which, McC must be loving life right now....

Big loss for them. I'm sure they'll strengthen though and they'll still pick up enough points to top 100 IMO.

We're hitting two points a game so far this season and should try to keep that up at the very least. 20 points from those ten games would be a decent return. We won't catch Leicester unless they have a massive downturn in form but we really do need to see that second spot as ours and do everything we can to get it. My only concerns are that we do still sometimes shoot ourselves in the foot and we don't kill games off like Leicester and Leeds (when they're at their best). Bringing in January reinforcements could be key to our chances.

Not the worst result but dropping our two goalscorers from the previous game was an odd decision. I hope Edozie is ok.

Happy New Year All! Best Goal: KWP against Bristol City - but how good would that AA effort against Plymouth have been if it had dropped a metre lower! Best Signing: Tie between THB and Downes. Ironically both loan signings. The only other one that comes close is Alcaraz really - I hope he really comes good in the second half of the season. That goal on Friday will do him wonders. Worst Signing: Orsic - not even a debate. Game to remember: Saints 4 - Norwich 4 but only because I was there and took my 5 year old for her first game. Money/Time pending, I hope to take her more in 2024. Honourable mention to Arsenal 3 - Saints 3 which I watched in the pub surrounded by Arsenal fans and we were 2 minutes away from winning it 3-1 with me giving it the biggun. Game to forget: Game? Philogene has looked excellent for Hull when I've seen him - before he got injured. I thought they'd only got him on loan so I was surprised to see recently that he's there on a permanent. He'll be in the Prem soon one way or another - I believe Villa have some sort of £15 million buy back clause if Hull get promoted, kind of like a fancy loan. We got him on a free transfer IIRC so the £20 million is all profit. I think it was quite a good deal for that money. He would have done a job for us this season but would we have been in a better place with Tella than we are now without him? Not sure.
