Laura wins everything ever. COME ON ENGLAND! It is as hard supporting England as it is Saints right now but you have to back the boys. The Dutch have been better than us for pretty much the whole tournament but we have the players - we just have to hope Southgate doesn't stifle us. If Spain don't win the Euros there's no justice. They've been head and shoulders the best team all tournament and the manager had the balls to select a 16 year old from the get go. They're defensively gettable but their attacking options are good. The Dutch could give them a tough final but I can't see England doing the same. Still, sometimes you can win ugly... I'm not ruling France out yet though. Ten minutes left and Giroud on the pitch...

I know nothing of Sugawara other than statistically on paper but this seems to tick some boxes as a replacement for KWP. Good age, playing regularly in the Eredivisie, fairly tall, has a handful of goals and assists, Japanese International (and we have a pretty good success rate amongst the Japanese players we've had). The alternative appears to be Aarons who is decent going forward but shorter and defensively questionable. Unless the idea is to bring both in and ship out Bree. Oh, and if the Ox buys his contract out and is available on a free, I'd be happy with him. The questions are over his injury history not his talent and for a free transfer it's worth a punt. He's only 30 too which surprised me.

He's only 21 though - I'm not saying he's the answer for us right now but, like Mara who is also 21 (just), it's amazing how many people write players off when they're still comparatively young (although we've seen enough of Mara to show that perhaps English football isn't for him). I wouldn't be against signing Delap as an "option" but not as a first choice. In a relegation season we don't need to be taking risks like that in a key position.

I wonder if Lis is being considered as our number 1/2 while Baz recovers - would save money and by most accounts he had a pretty good spell for Goztepe last season. I'm not convinced it's the answer but I wouldn't be surprised if it's Lis/Alex/Lumley as the 123 until Baz is back. The link to Jason Steele does make sense, apparently he's excellent with the ball at his feet which is what Russ wants, but perhaps we're taking a look at Lis over pre-season just in case.

It could be a France vs England final... Two teams that have failed to light up the tournament hardly at all. If Spain don't win it though I'll still be hugely surprised. If anyone 'deserves' it, they do but that's not always how the story plays out.
