This could really be a rout.
-
Might have to wait until he’s 36 though…

Can we consider Musiala a Saints academy product or is that really pushing it? 😁

Squad player. Need first teamers now please.

I'd like to think I'd be 4 but most likely I'll be 6.

That Republic side would probably do well in the Championship. Good keeper, Szmodics banging them in... Then you look at the Portugal line up...
-
I'm not sure I gave it in me for another Skacel transfer saga. I'm not even sure if he signed the first time...

I agree, but from the sounds of it that doesn’t sound like what’s being proposed. I stand to be corrected and I hope that I am but it sounds like we’re seeking cover for Baz while he’s injured, and that could be Steele plus offering Alex a new contract (with Lumley as a third choice I guess). Bearing in mind Baz is likely to be out until the new year at the very least (he may even be out for most of the season), that would mean going over half a season (if not more) without a ‘first’ choice keeper (And that’s before we question whether Baz is even Premier League ready in the first place). We need to get this department right and right now it sounds like we’re protecting the Baz asset by using effectively back-up keepers. I agree also that Ramsdale would be an excellent signing for a year but I’d be enormously surprised (although pleased) if that happened. I know it’s speculation season and it’s probably all just paper talk but all I hope is we’re not hitting January rotating 3 keepers because each has been as pants as the last two meanwhile dropping valuable points due to goalkeeping errors. Just underwhelmed is all, signing back ups when perhaps we should be bringing in a first choice keeper that Baz can then fight the position for when he’s fit. Even if it’s at the expensive of another position.

I'm hoping AA and Aribo will be different beasts this time round, AA full of confidence and Aribo having found his position and place with some decent displays from midfield. The rest will be no more than squad players so we just have to hope we strengthen the first team effectively.

It's a position we've not got right for years. This is a season we have a chance to redeem ourselves after relegation and we're looking at signing Jason Steele that Brighton fans think is shit, a quick glance at NSC forum shows that. I will have faith the club know what they're doing but right now it seems like we're trying to do things on the cheap, almost as if they got scared after blowing big money on crap the season before last. I'm sure we will spend a bit (I don't count THB in that as he was already signed pending promotion) but I don't think it will be as much as we hope, judging from the early signs.

I would be somewhat underwhelmed with that. We'd be going into a season with McCarthy, Steele and Lumley in the absence of Baz. I was hoping for better. I feel McCarthy has played himself into a new contract just by being better than Bazunu for a few games.

If we buy JWP back do we have a sell on clause? 🤪
-
THB has loads of time, he's 22 with tons of experience. He'll never play below the Prem again, either we stay up and keep him or we get relegated and he moves to another team. From what I've seen of him he's too good to play at that level again. I'd love to see him play for England one day, perhaps as Stones' natural successor.

Been typing about Adrian Mole's girlfriend much? Trent (copyright) Risk worth taking? We have no other specialist left backs. As long as people don't clamour for them when we're knocked out, I'm very happy with that! 😁
-
TBF I had him in my squad over Dunk or Guehi (before we found out Maguire was out). Particularly Dunk. But then Dunk is a specialist CB and with Maguire out, I can see why Southgate has selected him. In fact I believe I picked Braithwaite for my starting line up on that BBC picker thing. Shows what I know about football. We all know THB should be going...

Insulting God is blasphemy. If there was an upvote button, 'wankpuffin' gets it.

There is quality there with Grealish - that ball to Trent (copyright) on Monday showed it. It was a decent finish by Trent (copyright) but the vision from Grealish was excellent. The issue with him is consistency and lack of game time. He's only played 1000 minutes all season (or equivalent to 11 games). (Edit... in the Prem....) Not good enough when we only have potentially 7 games to win a tournament.
-
It looks as if we may be taking Watkins and Toney as back up to Kane but Bowen can play striker as well as anywhere across the 3 attacking midfield positions. His versatility could be crucial - and his domestic goal record is also good.
-
And he's earned his slot. TBF Southgate has been making the right calls so far IMO... Grealish I'm on the fence about but Eze offers us something different. Put it this way... if Foden, Saka, Bellingham and Kane stay fit, nobody is getting a look in (unless we win the first two games and put a scratch squad out for the third group game).

Saints - turning fans bipolar since 1885

So there are similarities...

Last time I saw a blow for Wolves like that I was watching Liam Neeson in The Grey. For what it's worth I think technology does have it's place and it isn't going away - it just needs to be done right. None of this bullshit wonky lines stuff or pubic hair over the line stuff - just important stuff. Decisions need to be quicker or not at all and everything needs to be clearer and more transparent.
-
Does this mean we can officially say "this season"? As in "I enjoyed our play-off win last season and I hope we can finish mid-table this season"? Also, we're 17th. Russell has done an excellent job so far in his debut Prem season.
-
I would say those two were expected - both have too many players in front of them. Jones looks decent though, he's one for the future - I haven't seen much of Quansah so I don't know if he's the real deal or if he was selected because he's played a few games for the best team in the world.
