My 7-1 prediction isn't looking good.

Nope he's better on the right. But we also have Brooks who is class and plays on the right so something has to give. The answer would be to play AA wide left and hope he has the same impact as on the right (so we can play Che or Mara up front) but there we find Fraser who has been one of our best players this season. Tricky one. I don't hate that line up though.

My guess is it will be Baz, KWP, THB, Bedders, Manning, Downes, Smallbone, Aribo, Brooks, Che, AA. My guesses are usually wrong. 7-1 to Saints with 10 bonus points for sexy football.

Being optimistic I have us finishing on 90 points and finishing 4th, which is insane when you think about it, 2 seasons ago it would have been enough to win the League. Such a weird season with 3 other teams smashing it.

We need to spend whatever money we have in the summer on smarter permanent signings than Shea and a crocked Stewart. Not to mention the panic buys of last January.

Besides the front 3, the rest of the team is concerning.

New GK KWP (ha, no chance) THB (decides that despite not getting promoted he's happy here - again... HA, no chance) New CB New LB New DM New CM New CM AA Ross (if he has risen from the dead by then, New Signing if not) Fraser (or New Signing). Pretty much how I see it.

I started trying to make a team of the two season's players and it got difficult. The best I came up with was: Davis (No brainer) KWP (No brainer) Fonte (No brainer) Hooijveld/THB/Bednarek (OK that's a tricky one, Hooijveld was well suited to the nPC. THB is going to be England material and Bednarek is a Polish International. I'd possibly rather have Hooiveld for the art of simple defending and the odd goal he got that won us points). Fox (Positionally as bad as Manning but with better assists) Morgan (No brainer) Hammond/Cork/Downes (tough one) Lallana (No Brainer) AA (No brainer) Lambert (No brainer) Guly (Because it's Guly!)

I do think we will be play off contenders longer term rather like fading away like we did in the 00's after our Derby play off defeat, but you're right otherwise - will replace outgoings like KWP, Downes, THB etc with like for like? Hell no, I can't see it. We may get Fraser on a permanent which would be good but we need to use the loan market as well, if not better, than we did this season. We can't rely on permanent signings coming good as long as the current decision makers are in charge (although Wilcox's exit may help).

Hopefully we can get the idea of Autos out of our heads now (it ain't happening) and give some of the younger lads a run out. SAA, Dibling, Meghoma - I can't see us dropping out the play off spots so why not give the youth a bit of a run out?

With autos all but gone I'm almost hoping Leeds win tonight now so Hull don't creep back into play off contention.

By God if we do somehow go up via play-offs we will get ripped to shreds next season.
