Really? I can't name the chairman/figurehead of most clubs and I don't see them mentioned in the press. it's a red herring and I am sure the players knew who was in charge. It would be naive to look past the increased wages from other clubs.
-
At the rate Liverpool are signing players, I wonder whether they will end up having a surfeit of players where some will miss out on the 25 man PL squad?
-
Aye, was in jest. Should have used an exclamation mark.

Seems quite a lot for a 29 year old

Or how about this for a shock - owner of football club has novel idea to run it like any other business (ie not at huge and unsustainable losses). Frankly if that is not possible, then might as well pack up shop as the whole thing is broken. You are never going to have all the supporters on side unless the owner is spending millions and millions on players. Look at NUFC - they weren't particularly happy with Ashley (admittedly he did some damned weird things) even though he had put in over £200m of his own money. Personally, I think that she should take a dividend out of the club - does anyone know whether she does? Treat it like a business, that obviously will do better if your players are better, and get a divvy each year. And really, isn't it a little naive to think any company owner/board is going to be wholly transparent?

Oh to be as sagacious as you. Maybe you could tell us all what is happening?

Sky Sources: New 5 Year Contract offered to Jay Rodriguez

That's all well and good unless it turns out to be Moyes mk II, where he couldn't get anyone and ended up with just a panic buy (who I really wouldn't mind coming to SMS despite the poor season he had last year). Anyway, unlike others, I am happy-ish with things. Not the way that players seem to be able to force moves (in some cases) after less than a year of their contract, but I guess that that is part of my general malcontent with the malaise that I feel surrounds modern day football.

I imagine it had something to do with MS twitter activity.

Him repeating Spurs are bigger all the time, while of course true, is trying to justify him shafting us. He is from a Saints by gone era, so no point looking back.
-
Most clubs dream of CL - there's little point setting your bar too low. But people are getting far too hung up on the ambitions of an ambitious employee playing with someone else's money.
-
Tell me then, what was the ambition and how has it changed? Not guesswork, but hard facts.
-
I think the relationship between board and players is a complete red herring. If not we would be rather unique. Tell me of another PL club which has this mythical boardroom/player relationship.
-
So be it. Just a shame (for us fans only I suppose) that the group couldn't stick together and potentially achieve something with Saints rather than go to ready made success. But that's football and won't change until a wage cap is introduced or FFP is scrapped, so I guess life goes on as normal. Plus ça change.

prophetic?

Someone said that Targett had bulked up. That to me was the biggest thing with Shaw - his physique for an 18yo was impressive. Is MT anything like that?

The food is a lot better?? I don't go to SMS for the food and on the very rare occasion that I feel like food then the foot long sausage for £5 sorts me out.

What did you think, for example during the last game of the season, about the number of times that he was caught far up the left wing with no where to go and trying to cross (and failing) with the outside of his left foot rather than his right foot? I mention the last game of the season as it seemed to happen more noticeably in that game than others.
-
The main thing for me, that LS needs, is to be able to use his right foot. Not re-writing history, I and others have said it for a long time.

Can we compete with QPR? The answer is actually probably "no". They seem to have taken scant regards of FFP rules (are they actually going to be punished for last year?) and have run up huge debts. We haven't. Article from 4 months ago: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/mar/06/qpr-debt-177m-report-premier-league-relegation

Would you pay Rio Ferdinand £70k a week?

Really don't understand why some posters bother supporting Saints.
