  1. 2012 African Cup of Nations Golden Boot winner. As we have seen at the WC, African teams aren't to be dismissed (and they were all better than England). At Young Boys he scored 32 goals in 55 appearances, so the lad has obviously got something somewhere in his locker. Just need the right person to unlock the talent.
  2. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2690856/Jay-Rodriguez-wanted-Liverpool-Brendan-Rodgers-considers-making-offer-fourth-Southampton-star.html?offset=0&max=100&reply=59066989#comment-59066989
  3. Isn't there a requirement to be on 11 times minimum?
  4. Problem is, that if we keep him and Billy Sharp and Gallagher, we might end up with no goals. Gallagher seems here to stay. Pelle is obviously in. Is there room for both, one or either Sharp and Mayuka? I don't think that we can have both, and Mayuka probably has more potential than Billy, not least because of his pace.
  5. Sure 3pm Saturday is good, but what do clubs get - £750k a game is it? So we are losing out big time on that front. Like last year and the year before. One might be forgiven in thinking that the TV companies don't like Saints.
  6. So with BT added ... 11 times = Man Utd. 10 times = Liverpool 9 times = Arsenal, Man City 7 times = Chelsea 6 times = Everton, Spurs, Villa, QPR 5 times = Newcastle 4 times = Burnley, Stoke, West Ham, WBA, Swansea 3 times = SAINTS, Hull, Palace, Sunderland, Leicester
  7. So Sky are showing.... 8 times - Man Utd 7 times - Arsenal, Liverpool 6 times - Chelsea, Man City 5 times - Aston Villa, QPR, Spurs 4 times - Everton 3 times - everyone else (ie 11 teams) Why anyone thinks that Villa and QPR will offer any entertainment is beyond me.
  8. Sky are showing our opening game, so a change to kick off time. Nowl there's a surprise that Liverpool are being televised yet again. Are we to endure another season of media love in with them?
  9. Only ever supported the one team. No experimentation or flirtation with other clubs when I was a nipper. No uncertainty and no wavering since. I will confess to having the scarf of another club, but they are in Ligue 1 and I used to go there to get my footie fix when living over there.
  10. Pelle may or may not be better looking that Dejan, but he can't look good & do this at the same time.
  11. Probably, but better than perving over footballers.
  12. Lazio are big, but the Italians have huge problems in that they are all bust. Wages here, even offered by us, are generally more attractive. I am sure that others can expand, but I was led to believe that it is only really Milan that pays top dollar wages.

I also read that SRL might be given the 7 shirt which would suggest that he is very much at the forefront of Rodgers' plans rather than a back up. I am not sure that L'pool are going to have a great season - the pressure is going to be huge, a) to repeat or better last season and b) to show that they are serious (OK, let's use ambitious) having sold Suarez. Certainly having sold one of the best players in the world, they seem not to have replaced (yet) with world class players.
  14. What you mean by "that"? I liked his mischievous grin - what were you referring to?
  15. Viktoria Varga
  16. I think he might be pleased to see her.
  17. He looks a bit like a school teacher there
  18. I know it's not our fault, just commenting that there are likely to be so many fewer English players. I said on a thread a fair while ago, that I have got to the stage now, that I don't care any more. It was fantastic seeing so many young English players last season, something that bucked the trend of PL and that had the potential to make a really fun WC. But we know what happened, and that particular balloon was well and truly popped to such an extent that I don't really care who plays for us. If bringing through lots of young English players is going to lead to the team being decimated every closed season I would prefer we went down some other route. I know financially it would be good for the club, but that's not my immediate concern.
  19. So from lots of English players starting to just the one.
  20. I know it was a rhetorical question, but it is the Mail and the truth has never got in their way. I do sometimes winder whether Simon Jones vies with Ashton for who can write the ****tiest article
  21. I doubt that, so long as he is (sincerely) contrite. Saints fans are very forgiving/magnanimous/understanding. Me, now that some time has passed since the "unfortunate" comments, I see a young man in an industry where they have pressures put on them by one and all, sometimes not for their own benefit. They are probably also told how wonderful they are the whole time by a fair few people so I can well understand how a whiff of arrogance or self importance can creep in. If he does stay, what is the point of heaping lots of shït on him? It's just cutting your nose off to spite your face. Much better to get him back in the family and get him to help us all push forward. But to me, it does require an apology. To err is human; to forgive Saintly.
  22. West Ham maybe doing well but when Sam gets his hands on them we'll see how they do.
  23. On a footballing level, really don't mind how he does as he is no longer Saints. Guess that if push comes to shove would say because an opposition player, like all other opposition players, hope he doesn't do as well as Saints. On a personal level I hope he does find the grass greener up north. Even if there were to be some downsides, I am sure his wages could overcome them. But all this ******** of we should be grateful for what he has done for Saints!! How about the other way around and he should be grateful for what Saints has done for him? That seems to fall down the pecking order, certainly with the nonsense at the end of the season.
  24. Comes across well, and somewhat differently to his fellow countryman Mr. Osvaldo.
  25. Viking, I would be very surprised if AL regrets his move.
