Makes sense I guess. PL = loads of wonga so a lot want to come here if one of the other top European clubs not available. Barcelona is vacant. Conte @ Juve was a bit undecided but he has just signed a new contract. So looking at PL, Spurs is the biggest job going.

I actually am more than happy paying Bournemouth millions if they are due it. Of course no one wants to pay if they can get away with it, but it's supposedly there and nothing can be done about it. The amount of money in the game is ridiculous, and the concentration of it at the top is just wrong with near zero redistribution throughout the leagues and grass roots. Just have to be grateful that it is a club to the west rather than the east.

the £6m might not be entirely for his benefit. If he has decided to go, it sends a pretty strong message out to potential replacements
-
Frankly, and having had a skinful tonight, I don't give a **** any more. If they don't want to be Saints, then **** them all. They are nor irreplaceable.

Osvaldo's goal, although it seems that he has been erased from Saints history.

Life might be too short to hate, but it's like when you split up with a girlfriend and they say "we can still be friends".
-
Isn't that to be expected, a bit like players using us as a stepping stone? We have a reputation now of bringing through players who go on to other bigger clubs.
-
If MP does stay, then I think my man love for him has taken a bit of a battering. And then no doubt, we will have the same saga next year.

I just nipped down to PC World for my work PC and got an HP Envy 700 i7-4770 3.40GHz 16GB RAM Win 8 2TB NVIDIA GTX660 Seems to do what I want.

FFS I wish the media would make up their sodding minds.

Ross Barkley must be attractive to some?!?

+1 I'm afraid to say.

From being relegated from PL we sold something like £26m more than we bought. Then in L1, we bought £600k more than we sold. Is that really unreasonable? And building a Champ side in L1, it is worth noting that in nPc, we sold £7.7m more than we bought. So I can't agree with you. Yes, the funds were there and they were spent, but if you look at what we sold/bought overall, then it paints a different picture.
-
Bankrolling our way out of L1? Really? Looking at transfer activities before the 2009/10 season and after is interesting. Transfer spend.... 2007/8 = (£24.5m) 2008/9 = (£1.8m) 2009/10 = (£2m) 2010/11 = £2.6m 2011/12 = (£7.7m) 2012/13 = £36.5m 2013/14 = £33m Can't understand how anyone can consider that buying our way out of L1, nor buying our way out of nPC.

And did we throw money at everyone and everything: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/southampton-fc/transfers/verein_180_2009_default_default_alle_a_default.html

I always believe that there are two types of manager. One that manages a group of players and the other that coaches them. FdB seems to be the latter as was MP, but I get the feeling that Levy really wants the former - if this makes any sense. Why would he come here? He probably won't, but... - Academy is the jewel in the crown, and for a coach must be very tempting. - Board has put on the record that they want to bring through youth and sometimes it isn't going to work but the manager won't get blamed. (Maybe naive and wishful thinking) - PL still holds a fair bit of attraction to people, and of the available jobs, which team would you pick (presuming Spurs are going for MP)? - Financially our turnover is similar to Ajax, so the financial package won't be shoddy even though no CL football. Of course no CL footie might be a big problem.

Yes, I should have quantified that the Championship has now been ruined also by ridiculous parachute payments. Batman - yes I agree with that as well, and I am not excluding Saints from the knock on effects of going in and doing what has happened to us, to them.
-
^ true and just another demonstration that football in this country has been ruined. It's no different in other leagues, as the same old teams fill the top spots, year in, year out. I guess the authorities in charge of the respective competitions have to decide whether they want a competition that is genuinely open and interesting (like the Championship and L1 & L2 for that matter) or a competition that doesn't spread things too wide so that the appeal of those clubs can be concentrated and sold around the world. One demonstration of this - Liverpool filling the SCG pre last season. What's that 96-100k? If we played in Sydney, how many do you think would turn up? 5k? 10k?
-
I thought MP said that he didn't understand why people has such a fascination about contracts and that he had a contract that ran for another year. Guess he's no different from anyone else (and it would be naive to think otherwise).

Interesting this "probably wouldn't have happened on Cortese's watch". What wouldn't have? It's always a rather foolish thing to do to under estimate a person you are trying to do business with. How many of the other PL chairmen know what RK is about? He may be outwardly different to NC, but he has hardly got his feet under the table. NC tearing up offers, I believe LR said that no players were for sale. And frankly, if someone was going to offer £30m for an 18 year old, I think that you would be more than foolish not to consider it. The problem in all this is that too many people are thinking that certain individuals are bigger than the club. While the ship is steady at the moment, who is to say that if certain people leave, like NC or MP, that their replacement can't do an equally good or better job.

I read on the Red Button that apparently he is going to be off to Spuds with MP (according to the Star). Oh it's so tedious.

Well of course now that the season is over, the media is going to turn on us as we are some upstart that dared to think that it could join the boys at the top table. At the rate my feelings are turning against football, it's likely I won't use my season ticket at all next year. I've got to the stage of not really caring any more and not really wanting to be part of this obscene circus that only cares about itself and how much money it can screw out of people. -

I'm with you but it is demonstrative of the problem that exists in football. You have the top 6 (and this obviously doesn't include Everton) and the rest. I know that I am biased, but I would have thought that the style of football that we played deserved screening more than Aston Villa's 16 times. The whole league is designed really so that the big 6 can get into CL and prosper. The other 14 are bit part players. The amount of attention we were getting when we were in the top 3 or 4 was down to the fact that so many people find the PL so boringly predictable as to who fills the top 6 positions. Or lets be honest, you can say top 4 and be right most the time. Top 4 next season - Man C, Man U, Chelsea with the forth place being played out between Arsenal and Liverpool. So there, that's the mystique of next season - is it Arsenal or Liverpool. And I'll stick my neck out and say the same for the season after that, and the one after that. Spuds might think that they are there, but they fight for 5th or 6th. As it is I don't have Sky or BT Sport as I have no interest in watching the top 6 playing week in, week out. -
Let's be honest Bloo, you couldn't give a monkey's about SFC, it's fans and any issues past or present. I don't blame you as I don't particularly care what other clubs get up to, especially those in the PL - 1st world problems. So saying that you are disappointed that we here do not have the same passion as you do for your petition is somewhat naive and ever so slightly hypocritical.
