  1. Domestically I would agree, or Moyes. Guess the replacement will tell us a lot about our future ambitions.
  2. Can't see a problem with wages. As I have mentioned more than once, if the stories of MP being offered £6m a year are to be believed (who knows what is to be believed these days), this to me is sending a message out saying that we will pay top dollar. Put it this way, the reported wage for LvG at Man Utd is £6m a year.
  3. Ah - ta. Not a betting man so obviously got 2+2=5
  4. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/tottenham/next-permanent-manager/bet-history/mauricio-pochettino/today Seems that quite a few companies have suspended betting.
  5. I'm sorry, I don't buy into it is understandable that he will leave if we sell a couple of players. IF he feels that way, then maybe it is best that he does leave - he doesn't call the shots, he's an employee who doesn't have to worry about balancing the books and running the club viably.
  6. Duncan, sure, of course Herr NC had the final say. I was more after who discovered him. Lordy says it might well be him, which is interesting.
  7. I guess it's faintly amusing watching so many headless chickens pronouncing who is going to be signed.
  8. Do they? I didn't know that NC looked at his record, went and scouted him and said. yup, he's the man for us. Glad that I mentioned it, as all those ITK cam impart their knowledge and set me right. So thank you.
  9. I do think it worth remembering back to when Adkins was sacked and MP appointed. None of us (and apologies if I don't speak for some) were particularly impressed by the appointment of MP, who had been recently sacked. Now the person who decided on him, and I am presuming it wasn't Cortese, is still at the club so why can't they find another good manager, and one who might be even better?
  10. Guess I differ from you and the journalist. It seems all too common these days that people who think they are being funny (or in the course of trying to be funny) are just being rude. Was the Adele comment really necessary? Sure she isn't the slimmest lady in the world, but what was written was just plain rude. One thing for sure is that she is more talented than the author of that piece.
  11. Sorry, but I don't buy that. Papers don't post articles like this to be t-i-c. It may be anti-Saints, but what sort of reaction were they counting on? If that is the case then surely you pick someone like Utd or Liverpool. Basically papers are the same as those running the PL. Don't want a smaller club with a smaller fan base hogging any of the limelight - not good for business. But never mind, the Mirror is some socialist crap which I don't consider to even be fit to wipe my backside.
  12. Lil. it would be better value for money to buy the whole club, not just those players
  13. I have disliked Spurs for a very long time and this saga hasn't made me change my mind.
  14. Oh FFS, he's going, he's staying, he's going, he's staying. Can't these papers make up their minds. And as for the Mirror article...."switch is now in doubt after boardroom differences at White Hart Lane" is a little at odds to MP staying if the players aren't sold.
  15. What dip in odds since yesterday?
  16. OK, we all know Adkins and Pardew got the bullet. The latter apparently for well known reasons. Wotte got replaced by the new owner. Poortvliet resigned. Pearson got the chop - was it cost cutting? Burley resigned to take over at Scotland. Saggy resigned. Wigley got the chop (silly appointment). Sturrock left by mutual consent (ie was fired). Strachan resigned. So we don't really have itchy trigger fingers.
  17. You counting Wigley x2, Bessant/Wise, Gorman and Wilkins in there, aren't you? They were temporary appointments (well one of Wigley's was).
  18. I think there would and that is why this story http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/476362/EXCLUSIVE-Break-the-bank-Southampton-s-6m-to-keep-Pochettino wasn't, to me, just aimed at MP. It was also for other top managers out there knowing that they would be well paid - that is if there is any truth in it.
  19. Actually not sure why I posted that, as yes, you are 100% correct about the money. As I have said here many a time, I love Saints but I don't actually love football any more. Can't see the point in joining a competition that you have no chance of winning. I guess that there are lots of people who either support a team hundreds (or thousands) of miles from them and who they have no connection with as well as many people who never knew pre-Sky/PL footie and are happy with the situation that we currently have. As Tennyson wrote, "men may come and men may go, but I go on for ever" which sums up Saints for me.
  20. You may well be right, but frankly it's a **** attitude to have. Why then even bother competing if you think that this pecking order is immutable?
  21. When MP goes. will he take Osvaldo with him or leave him as a present for us?
  22. I hate the playoffs. You play for 40 odd games and you can finish dozen or more points ahead of some one who get's promoted. Can you imagine the PL doing this with 4-7th to see who gets the 4th CL spot? Also this play off final always seems to detract from 1st and 2nd place, what with all the fan fair that goes on.
  23. Will they? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/queens-park-rangers/10852635/Queens-Park-Rangers-face-play-off-final-dilemma-when-is-an-80m-jackpot-nothing-like-an-80m-jackpot.html This goes against something I read that said that they probably would, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
  24. Well not a lot has changed since 19/5 and while bookies don't always get it right, they tend to. Best odds currently MP - 4/7 (Shortest seem to be 1/4) FdB - 4/1 (although a couple seem to have him at evens!!) RM - 25/1
  25. This and massively so. I suspect a lot of non top 6 think this and want us to keep them all.
