  2. ^ Aye - I edited what I wrote. The one thing that I don't really agree with is that the Club seem to be being a little petulant with certain players who they think are being, dare I say, disloyal.
  3. TheFalseLibero @TheFalseLibero · May 13 #saintsfc I have, on solid inside the club information, that Pochettino is staying. Interesting insight you say?? EDIT - I started from the bottom going up, so that tweet is explained.
  4. One question that has been nagging me for a while, and resurfaced with the bit about MP not rating AL enough to bid for him......why in the last few games of the season was AL replaced with 20-30 minutes remaining?
  5. I am still looking forward to seeing how RL performs, regardless of signing for Liverpool. His approach to the game is the correct one and one that should be held up as how things can work out. Water off a duck's back to the prima donnas....
  6. RK needs to call the Liverpool board for a face to face meeting at SMS and then tell them in the politest possible terms to **** off back up the M6.
  7. Well at least Clattenburg comes out of all this much better than he was portrayed last season.
  8. Nice one Guan. Any timing on point 7?
  9. What's all this bollacks with everything being leaked in the press? Is that how transfers and management appointments are conducted these days?
  10. Yup - started going in 1992 and didn't take too long for it to completely go. Has being getting progressively worse and has got to a point where I am continually tossing up with the idea of giving up the "sport" for good.
  11. And why on earth would they care? They think that this the best league in the world, which contains 30% English players, and they sell it perfectly well around the world. The big clubs don't care as they have their fan base and income sorted and are now nicely established with the FFP rules protecting them from anyone else challenging them. PL personifies the club vs country argument. The PL couldn't give a monkey's about the national side - they don't make any money from it. And let's take the Far East. Do they want to see Southampton vs Stoke, Villa, Hull, Swansea, Cardiff, West ham, Newcastle, Fulham, etc etc or Liverpool vs Man City, ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal?
  12. Are we stopping him going, or is it Liverpool? If one believes what is leaked into the press, he is welcome to go if Liverpool stump up £30m. Also, if one was to believe the captain, he thinks that SFC should role over just for him and give him away on the cheap. I know football players aren't known for being overly intelligent, but do they have any concept of what a contract is? It's a two way thing, and while far too often players get their way by breaking them, that shouldn't be considered to be the norm as then these sort of situations wouldn't arise.
  13. I really can't decide about him. There is no question that he has the skill and huge potential, but sometimes it just never comes off. If AL goes, then there is a natural role for him. If reports of MP marginalising players he didn't favour, then maybe he can emerge as a superstar. There seem no shortage of clubs wanting to take him on. However, taking him as a loan with an option to buy is because they are undecided about his potential.
  14. Zidane @ 100/1
  15. It must be said that Fulham were probably THE worst team to come to SMS last season (which also exposed our sometime goal scoring deficiencies as 2-0 was not a fair reflection of the men vs boys)
  16. Come on Jeff, surely you don't begrudge football supporters from being over excitable and fickle?
  17. Only in football does the employee/employer relationship work in some bizarre way that the employer has to be seen to be grateful and work in the employee's interests. The world of modern day football really is an unattractive one.
  18. So I guess the problem is that he doesn't rate himself to be a £30m player and wants SFC to bend over and take one so that he can get paid more (along with CL footie). "You’re very different now since you played for England. You never used to be like this."
  19. Loyalty over the years is a two way thing.
  20. @bigadamsport: >> yesterday relationship between Adam Lallana & club worsened after a number of his calls to #saintsfc board members were ignored >>> Board doesn't act like AL's b*tch and doesn't acquiesce to his demands so he get's upset
  21. I thought MP's letter was as well. It's akin to your girlfriend dumping you and then saying that you can still be friends (and then later trying to nick your prized possessions now she's comfortably shacked up with someone else). Let's not forget he was saying that he was on a contract and couldn't understand what the fuss was about in signing an extension. Nor forget that he was pimping himself around France. It would have been far better to not say anything rather than try and ingratiate himself with us. I know that it is petty, but looking back on his tenure, he was one grumpy bastard. While it made a nice change from Adkins's happy clappy approach, he could have been more enthusiastic about life. Was he always grumpy or was it just at the end?
  22. Leaving aside those that say it serves us right, which of course it does - that's just football banter, there are the realistic ones who bemoan the Big 4 to 7 (depending on your view) and the rest = uncompetitive league. They know full well about how hard it is breaking into the top echelons.
  23. I still recall a Telegraph headline from when we had WGS enriches read something along the lines "Spurs, the poor version of Southampton" or something along those lines. Oh howuch can change I. a few years.
  24. There was a recent article in the Fail that caused me to think about the future. It was saying the top 6 or 7 were subsidising the rest by missing out on TV revenue. Can't be bothered to remember all the details, but yes, Liverpool were at the top having missed out on £70m odd. If, or maybe that is when, clubs negotiate their own TV deals, that really will be that. As others have said, there are far too many who see PL as being the be all and end all. From a competition POV that is far from true. I always ask what the point is of joining a competition to just make up numbers? I also question the chief aim of PL is qualifying for CL. I would love to see the whole rotten thing collapse but there has been so much money thrown at it that I can't see that happening.
  25. The powers that be have made it so, so I guess they're happy with a few clubs per league dominating year in year out. it will end up with the creation of a European super league. The money men will be happy. No doubt some supporters will too. The plastics will be happy. And **** everyone else.
