In terms of football, as you say, did you feel the same about Cortese? Or Lowe? How about Corbett?

Time might tell that he is inadequate, but I would suggest that it is a very foolish thing to do to underestimate him. He may be on a very steep learning curve but he hasn't got to where he is for being an idiot.

12 Managers in the last ten years, something is wrong!
angelman replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Take off Burley who resigned for the Scotch job, and Redknapp who resigned for being a **** and that's down to 6. Wotte - a new owner came in and replaced him - perfectly understandable. MP - resigning for something bigger and that's down to 4 Pardew was having "problems" with players and their wives. Adkins is Adkins and shouldn't be taken as the yard stick to judge us over the previous 10 years. Yes, his sacking was uncalled for, but the man responsible for hiring and firing him is no longer here. -
Isn't Moyes @ United not too dissimilar to Hodgson @ Liverpool?
-
If he is going to take the whole of SFC to Spuds, why leave in the first place?
-
Looking at Moyes, what are his options? Us, WBA or Celtic or any other overseas club that might be looking. Because I am biased, I would discount WBA, so it would be between us and Celtic. if you were him, would you choose us over Celtic? Interesting that Owen Coyle seems to be favourite for Celtic.

Gaston falls into the fringe players and I can imagine that he didn't like the manager that much. Maybe we can keep Gaston and his TRUE potential can be seen.

While being disappointed, why not add Zidane to your list? Would love to take the risk with him. He says he wants to learn his trade before taking over at Real, so why not here. Off for a lie down.

I rather liked this article from a true loyal Saint http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/11220991.Go_if_St_Mary_s_is_not_for_you_says_Benali/

Time for reflection - I agree. But I would reflect on the bigger picture. We have to realise what the PL is what it is. Since Man City were taken over and had £££million pumped into them, the top 7 have been the same every single year with one exception being when Newcastle finished 5th (pushing Liverpool into 8th) a few years ago. Like it or not, Spurs have been in that top 7 the whole time, so people saying it is a sideways step are wrong. The rich are now getting richer, and everyone else is playing catch up. The last team that made a consistent break through was Villa who finished 6th something like 3 years in a row, but that was before City got going - look at them now. As we all know, all these clubs really want to do is qualify for CL. They don't care about the domestic competitions (save as a platitude to supporters when you have mucked up elsewhere). Looking at next season, I can't see anyone new breaking into the top 7, nor can I see it in the foreseeable future. Can Spurs finish top 4 on a regular basis? Frankly I really don't care - it's the top 7 and "the rest" and we are in "the rest". We dared to break into the top 7 (and I think that we should have last season) but that's it. So reflecting on this, I have to toss up whether I want to bother carrying on with watching the PL. I love Saints so no doubt I will, but I can't really see the point in partaking in a competition purely to make up the numbers. If Scudamore and the PL are happy with the way things are, then that is their choice - it's their business. Those clubs that are getting ever richer aren't going to allow change. There was a meek attempt at FFP rules, but really, this doesn't affect "the rest" and is just to stop one of the top 7 being overly dominant over the other 6. If UEFA are happy with the CL and the way it dominates national leagues then that's fine as well, but I do question why they just don't go the whole hog and set up their European Super League. It's been talked about for decades, so surprised it hasn't come to fruition yet. But, reflecting further, I guess that we should be thankful that the club isn't in bad shape. We could be Pompey or Leeds or Brum or......The only way I can see anything chance is if Mansour or Ambramovich decide that they have had enough and call their loans back in (if there are any remaining that haven't been written off). Maybe in a few years time West Ham might be up there. They are to get a hugely subsidised stadium, like Man City, so who knows.....

Our biggest problem was in the last quarter of the pitch. We had possession and chances but failed to convert them far far too often. Last season was ruined by having an ineffective striker in the form of Osvaldo. Imagine if we had had a proper one who wanted to play here and actually converted chances?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2641038/Mauricio-Pochettino-target-Southampton-players-new-Spurs-boss-gets-ready-new-role.html **** me sideways. Daily Mail hasn't wasted much time.

Never liked him, but if given the chance, then Rafa would be my choice, but having said that, isn't he more of a manager than a coach?

Yakin is shortest odds at 2/1 (http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton/next-permanent-manager) with Bet Victor. Started off at 8s this morning so fairly dramatic shift.

No thanks from RK to MP

Thank **** for that. It's over and we can move on.

Good one on The Echo

I had to turn Durham off, which admittedly I do quite frequently (especially when Gough is with him).

We can still be friends though, can't we?

**** the message. Since he said he had a year left on his contract and couldn't see what the fuss was about, what is the point in believing anything he has to say?
-
Exactly. One thing that you can't take away from Spurs is that they are even more ambitious.
