  1. Hodgson, ex manager of Liverpool, failure. If I was a cynic, I might think that he is doing all he can to ingratiate himself with LFC.
  2. Another way of looking at things is that the board is not being panicked into making an overly hasty decision. If true that potential managers have been at Staplewood, then the players will know this and hopefully be reassured that the processes are being done properly. Act in haste, repent at leisure. But....this has gone on too long for me now!!
  3. Really not upset that RL has gone. Rather, I am delighted for him. He epitomises a much more innocent footballer, one who is a journeyman rising to the top and not a primadonna obsessed with money. He gives hope and inspiration not only to youngsters but also other professionals. His joy at scoring his first goal for England was wonderful to see. Comparing him to AL, maybe Clattenburg was right.
  4. Didn't he have quite a strange contract....if he played a certain number of games (half during the season?) then he would get a years extension at £40k per week? Fact is, he wasn't getting any quicker and I highly doubt that at the end of his current contract in 2016, he would get another with us.
  5. I really couldn't give two hoots whether RL is a Liverpool player at the WC or a Saints one. To me, as he has yet to play for L'pool, to consider him one for the WC is a little silly.
  6. haha at least this thread made me laugh
  7. Odds are actually drifting a little bit.
  8. Encouraging in what way? Says to me he wants out and to get deal sorted pure WC. The club is under no obligation to acquiesce to his wishes.
  9. Agree. Disappointed that the board did not have the replacement lined up to announce 1 minute after Spurs announced MP. They knew MP was off, we knew, everyone knew. Would have looked much much stronger if they had announced straight after MP unveiled at Spuds. If those 20 scouts are permanently working on players and management (like RK said they were) then surely there would be no need to make a short list (as one would already be in place) and no need to delay. Or was RK telling porkies?
  10. I actually thought that the interview was quite good. But obviously not selling anyone and then doing exactly the opposite means that there's not much point in even wasting time in taking on board what he said as the veracity is questionable. Coupled to the fact that the only thing you can actually do is either buy or not buy a ticket what's the real point of getting worked up. If the owner and her cohorts want to completely run down her company, then that's her choice. We won't like it, but there's nothing that can be done to stop it, short of buying the company.
  11. Not much I can do about it, save for turning up to the games or not. As I have already renewed the season ticket, there's not even that choice any more. So not really too worried as I can't do anything. Will be interesting to see what team we have left. I am almost, in a perverse way, hoping that the whole team goes. That way my disillusionment with football will be complete and I can completely give up with the nummamorous monstrosity that it has become.
  12. We're not becoming a laughing stock. In the leagues there are 7 "haves" and 85 "have nots". We are just going through the trials and tribulations that most "have nots" go though.
  13. NC thought he was bigger than the club. He was also incredibly stupid with his treatment towards the owner. If he was such a good CEO, why isn't he in employment (yet) elsewhere?
  14. By the same token, why should KL feel beholden to run one of her late father's companies that she may not like or have any interest in what so ever? I would have thought that we are for sale and have been ever since ML passed away. That's not to say that KL is going to asset strip the place, not least because it will put a stain on her father's legacy as well as making us less financially attractive. Of course this might be wholly wrong, and she might have found a fondness for the club, but it would be a little naive to expect her to run at a loss when she might possibly have zero interest in the cub.

    Monk's Corner

People are quite understandably unrealistic about football. They always have and always will. For some reason the heart takes over - why on earth do so many people appear to think that SFC players have the same love for the club as the supporters do? The vast majority of players don't with the club they play for, never have, never will. I am sure at some stage in one's life, you have dreamed about being the best player around and playing for no one but Saints. It doesn't work like that. There are very few Benalis and MLTs and maybe it is those two (or MLT) that has increased the unrealistic thoughts that players actually are happy to be at Saints all their career. One of the bigger clubs, yes, but not Saints. And then there is the issue of money. As I have said many a time, football pre-PL was something completely different. I still yearn for those days, the days when the playing field was so much more level (even though certain clubs did dominate), when money wasn't the be all and end all. Then, we could compete. But those days are long long gone, never to return, and hence why I say I love Saints but hate football.
  16. Whose managerial record would you consider better: Koeman or Pochettino?
  17. Would that mean he would be there to get us relegated?
  18. Strewth, I thought I was a pessimist, but damn, some of you on here might just as well go down to the other end of the M27
  19. I do too, but am going to reserve judgement until we appoint a manager. As we won't be able to get a refund there's not a lot one can do. I guess if you felt very strongly, you could try and get a CCJ - would be interesting to see what would happen.
  20. Bit of advice for everyone........Handle every stressful situation like a dog does. Pee on it and walk away.
  21. First time that any one has been odds on - SkyBet have him at 10/11. Thoughts - don't really care, I think it imperative that we get someone in. I believe that his win percentages are usually in the 50% region.
  22. Have to agree. This evening I felt like that but then undertook some manual relief and am feeling much better now. I think having people like Benali and MLT at SFC all their careers has led most to think others will follow what they did. It's all about money, and we all know that money rules most peoples' lives.
  23. I do think it would be helpful it the board announced the new manager soon,,,,like tomorrow morning.
  24. Does Apple want to buy us?
