  1. Can someone tell me what you have to do to tap someone up?
  2. TBH this playing short from the back has been a bit dodgy all season. We should have been punished in the first half vs Norwich yet persist with it. Now I'm fairly pessimistic when watching (like turning to my neighbour after 83 minutes and asking when he thought it safe that we were going to win - was slightly tongue in cheek at 3-0 with 7 mins to go!!), but my old man is far worse, esp now he has the beginnings of dementia. I had to keep on telling him that it was good to play out from the back, but really he has a point. While there is an ethos to build the attacks from the back, sometimes we just **** around far too much. In this league, you make a mistake and chances are you get punished for it (and we are much better at punishing this season). Coupled to the crap kicking display, I got thinking whether it might not be good to give Gazza the gloves for the rest of the season. I agree that Boruc might be good for another season, but he isn't the future. He has made mistakes, and made some world class saves. We missed him when he was injured which I guess is the real test of his value. But....I would like to see Gazza for the last 8 games.
  3. WC - why even bother wasting your time replying to GS as we all know he talks crap the whole time?
  4. Funny that the main sporting press in this country don't have a whiff of this "exclusive" story
  5. I had a draw at Maine Road (or whatever they call it these days) but agree with the rest
  6. I don't really care whether he goes or stays. I have no say over the matter and so see little point in worrying about it. The papers have managed to sell half our team plus the manager, so I guess at some stage I should take a view on it before blindly renewing the season ticket.
  7. Who I want down isn't very realistic as it would include West Ham. I really wanted West Ham to go down, and Orient to be promoted so that they were in the same league, as I think that the Olympic Stadium business might well kill off Orient, as Hearn says. I know that that might be a little unfair on the supporters as they don't want to go there either. Down: Fulham Sunderland WBA Although, it is likely to be Norwich if they don't win against us tomorrow. Up I fear B'mouth are too far behind, but would love them in the PL. As with others, QPR a definite no. Leicester unfortunately seem like they are coming up. After their massive spending spree a few years back, I went slightly off them, but I do note that they have been much more restrained for the past 2 seasons, so.... Leicester Burnley Reading
  8. I know that there is another thread, but I look at our 3 most expensive signings..... Osvaldo - nuff said, but even when he was here, he wasn't really first choice. Wanyama - I know he got injured and Cork took over, but if Cork had been given the starting role, then I am sure that we wouldn't be any worse off. Maybe with Davis stepping up and being a bit of an all round midfielder, this has added to the competition for midfield places. Gaston - talented for sure, but can't get a regular start (or start for that matter). I know that with Osvaldo we should be able to sell him, and maybe even make a profit, same with the other 2, but there is an initial £40m odd outlay and what is there to show for it? So maybe the "Southampton Way" should be not to splash the cash too much, although Lovren is an undoubted success, and not look for a marquee signing. I would prefer to either go English from lower leagues or promote from within if good enough.
  9. As a season ticket holder as well, I would think that I might question the whole of football if we had all our best players poached. I know plenty of people who just don't see football as it used to be pre-Sky/PL and now hardly every go. Maybe it's a bit melodramatic of me, but the sole focus of money, money and yet more money has rather dampened my enthusiasm for the game. The game has moved on from the 1970s/80s and I haven't.
  10. Thanks Grandad. Didn't realise that we had beaten them at Anfield as well, a somewhat rare occurrence.
  11. Been wondering - have we ever done the double over L'pool?
  12. Funny that the footballers who have been caught doing it are Anelka, Nasri and Sakho. What do they have in common with Dieudonné? Religion.
  13. The problem is that there are too many chippy people who don't realise who pays taxes in this country. I use the BBC article as their political stance is well known. So the top 1% of earners pay 24% and the next 9% of earners pay 29%. So what would you want the top 10% of earners pay? Is 53% not enough, or would you prefer they pay 100% and (being presumptuous that you aren't in the top 10% bracket) you pay nothing? Then to that, you might want to add that 53% of households are net recipients of State handouts (ie they get more back than the amount of tax they pay). http://www.cps.org.uk/publications/reports/the-progressivity-of-uk-taxes-and-transfers/. Are you one of these 53% - puts a bit of a different slant on things doesn't it? Personally, I would look towards corporations to pay more, or at least a fair share. The first thing that I would get rid of are these ridiculous inter-company loans that multinationals undertake between their UK operations and parent in low tax countries.
  14. The best was (Saint &) Greavsie. Current best is Stelling.
  15. Was wathing CL Olympiacos vs Man U and had to put up with inane commentators. Fortunately I got a call from one of my suppliers from USA so could turn the volume off.
  16. Battyman - I can't do Matt Holland as he teams up with Durham and is far too sycophantic. Can't stand Durham so can't stand anyone with him - Holland but especially Gough who really should stick to cricket. Maybe it is that I can't stand over opinionated Yorkies. I guess Irani falls into the same category as Gough in that he should stick to crcket. Collymore shouts the whole time and his accent is annoyingly whiney, and he seems to think that he was the best football player the world has ever seen - annoyiing. Savage I don't mind, at least he has a self-deprecating humour although I find his stance on supporting pro footie players come what my slightly annoying. I guess it's all personal taste. As for TalkSport, why charge people for calling in?
  17. Why is it that there are so many rubbish journalists and commentators out there. I always used to think that Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend were the epitome of crapness. But I was wrong. Adrian Durham (and Darren Gough) really really take the biscuit. I have to turn off talkSport when those two come on and I sometimes read the Mail on line (as no pay wall) but have given up on his articles as they are a complete pile of ****. And if you dare post a comment criticising him, it will get deleted. talkSport - has some of the best and the worst. I very much enjoy Brazil when he has Warnock on. And Hawksby and Jacobs are amusing. But on the other side, apart from idiotic Durham, Johnny Vaughan runs Durham pretty close with Keys & Gray not far behind along with Colin Murray. Keys and Gray are dinosaurs who if they were a dog, would have been put down a long time ago. Sky seem to have a decent set of analysts but still the commentary lets the side down. Why do commentators feel the need to make inane comments the whole time? (right - off for a cuppa)
  18. Am I right in thinking that when they started the season the Few thought that they were going to walk the league as they were too big for L2, and had one of the best budgets?
  19. My boy wears my old top. He wanted to get this season's one but I easily persuaded him not to. Always thought Steve Moran suited it best.
  20. I had the S2 before it got wet and fried itself. Then decided that it did more than I needed/understood, so ever since have gone for budget phones. So, no, not going to get S5 as the Moto G on my SIM only contract does all that I need.
  21. Can't see him playing for Chelsea, but rather he will be part of the deal to bring Diego Costa to Stamford Bridge. If they do, then will there be enough money to buy Shaw, as FFP seems to be being taken seriously at Chelsea, or more seriously than in Manchester.
  22. Third Round Proper winners (32) £67,500 Fourth Round Proper winners (16) £90,000 Fifth Round Proper winners ( £180,000 Sixth Round Proper winners (4) £360,000 Semi-Final winners (2) £900,000 Semi-Final losers (2) £450,000 Final runners-up (1) £900,000 Final winners (1) £1,800,000 Financially, FA Cup doesn't compare to one place gained in PL unless you get to the final. This of course doesn't take into account TV and gate receipts, so maybe a semi-final birth is financially the same as one PL spot. Last season, as mentioned, it was about £750k - not sure what it is this season.
  23. Stoke used theirs for free travel?? So why didn't anyone come?

    Mind Games

I am finding José M's comments somewhat trite now, and I wish he would just STFU.
  25. When I first saw this thread, I thought Wenger had signed him!
