  1. As a sport/spectacle., it is a shadow of it's former self, and having been an avid watcher (not follower) I can't be bothered these days. If it's on then I might watch it if I haven't got anything better to do. Seems that I usually have, so watch very few. For me, I think the final nail was DRS. Having races decided by who could fill up with fuel and change their tyres the quickest seemed very strange, but to give the car behind you a complete advantage with DRS is just nonsensical.
  2. Guly to come on late and get a 9 minute hat-trick. 4-1
  3. Plus it depends where you come from and what you want from life. If you love peace and quite and the great out doors, I imagine if Newcastle came knocking, then you might be off. The bright lights and then any London club should be able to accommodate. Etc etc.
  4. Rose is dreadful, a real weak link. Had an awful game against us, and whenever I see him on TV he is equally bad.
  5. LOL - it would be interesting to see what would happen if we tried signing the big clubs' youth. Certainly if I was a parent to one of these kids, I would seriously have to consider SFC given how we like to bring on youth and how they are doing and have done in the past. What would you want for your son - to be a bench warmer if even that at the likes of Chelsea (and then out on loan with who ever) or a youngster who if good enough will get a chance at Southampton? This season we have had 5 players who were 18/19 (LS, CC, JWP, Sam G, HReed) plus 3 others in the League Cup. Plus Clyne, Big Vic & Gazza at 22, Gaston at 23, Morgan, Lovren, JRod & Cork at 24 While we might have lost out on a sell on clause for Bale, who gets more credit for his development - us or Spurs? In the long run that might count in our favour. Same with Walcott and Chamberlin.
  6. Not sure that they would worry about that. He's the right age (8 years younger than Vidic), done very well this season. What's better - take a risk on someone who has never played PL but is a big name, or take someone from a smaller club who has proven (albeit just 20 odd games so far) that they can hack it? There's all this talk about Shaw, AL, Cork, JRod, RL and now Chambers - that's fine. It's the players that aren't mentioned that concerns me as I think that we have 3 that would suit a club like Man U (but more realistically 2) both in the back 4. Hell they could take our entire back line, put in another decent CB and that would look pretty decent.
  7. Think the Mail have sold even more of our team. There is one player that is never mentioned and that really surprises me. Not going to mention his name, but Man U need to replace Vidic with someone.
  8. How one sided is this? Would love it, love it...if they can hang on.
  9. You can't reheat a soufflé
  10. This is an aspect that has always confused me. Why was SMS so cheap, at £1000 a seat? A total of £32m. Amex Stadium was £93m for 30k capacity, or about £3000 per seat. Given that Amex was also on (I think) a green-field site, there was no cost of land clearance etc. Is it down to SMS being an identi-kit stadium? I know that many people like to put it down as being boring and no different from certain other clubs, but given the price, happy to live with the criticism
  11. I think that these managers only take the job on for the compo when they get sacked, with the plum job being the Chelsea one. Only club unlikely to sack their manager being Newcastle who gave AP an 8 year contract!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Spurs may well want MoPo, but Club Call's www (i know, I know) say that Real Madrid are sniffing him out if they don't get silver ware this season.
  13. What I find most interesting about Shaw's crosses, and it was very evident last night, is that he still seems to get the ball in when his opponent is tracking back with him and is level, when most players seem to need to be half a yard ahead of their opponent.
  14. There's a big flaw in his game though, in that he doesn't have a right foot. Not sure I saw him use it once this evening. Just being overly picky.
  15. Tend to agree with both your points. It would be good to sell rather than load, otherwise we have the same problem next window. Juve seem to want to swap/loan, Monaco might buy as might Valencia. I guess it comes down to whether we need another striker and whether one is available. To be perfectly honest, we have got to where we are this season with hardly any input from Osvaldo, so I can't see him being missed. I still enjoyed the goal against Man City and from my seat in the Kingsland, I had a perfect view.
  16. Alas, I can read and understand English. The headline was distinctly parisological by portraying it as an ultimatum.
  17. €18m from Valencia - damn, bite their hands off. This might make sense if we are going to start fining him - a little nudge. Hell, pay him €1m or €2m to go there.
  18. Crap article. You can't fine him for not leaving - that would be against the law.
  19. Have we ever had a South American who has done well?
  20. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2546730/Mangala-Zouma-Dante-candidates-replace-retiring-Rio-Man-Utd-four-way-battle-Shaw-Stoke-eye-Cattermole-THE-TRANSFER-COLUMN-Part-One.html Tsk, only a 4 way battle for him now, what with Liverpool entering the race. Maybe these clubs should spend more effort on developing their own players.
  21. Shearar's debut Mk2 would be good!!
  22. Agree. And if you really want to show acceptance, you lift the suspension and play him against Arsenal. NO point cutting your nose off to spite your face, BUT have to weigh up the feeling in the dressing room as that is paramount, as Kelvin said. While I don't like player power dictating who should/shouldn't play for the club, I do think that the senior players' feelings should be considered.
  23. So Baines' and Shaw's contracts both expire at the same sort of time.
  24. yes I think you were dreaming. He posted some sort of arty sunset thing saying feel the love, or some such pseudo Italian poppycosk.
  25. That's nice to know (and I am presuming you are ITK - excuse me for not knowing, but there are certain bulls hitters on here who say they are and just spout so much bullocks that some is bound to be true). In all honesty, there really is no need for him to move before that age as he will develop here and have time to carry on elsewhere. We all know that too many younger players go off to bigger clubs and don't fulfil their full potential, and I am sure that many of these players know that, with the latest example being Zaha. The only thing that SFC would want, is that if (or rather, when) he moves on that there is a transfer fee involved. If he stays he until 23/24 then who knows, maybe a call from Real or Barca might be on the cards. I'd far prefer that than to sell to one of our rivals (!!!).
