Some seem to think that a written transfer request has to be accepted. It doesn't. And then there is the small point of any other club having to reach an agreement with us. It seems that some are trying to stir the waters so that they can save themselves a bob or two.

I know you like to portray yourself as the forum sage, but sometimes you are so ****ing stupid

What's reddit?

Plausible deniability. They (LFC) do not employ the journalists nor the ex-players who of course are going to be biased.
-
NOOOO. I don't believe you. He is desperate to play for Liverpool. All I can imagine is that he and Ryan are smiling as they are both about to submit written transfer requests.

Fair enough. I go for entertainment and to a certain extent I am with you as that losing isn't much fun. Would I take a highly entertaining 3-2 loss over a drab 1-0 scrappy victory? Probably not. But if I have to ever sit through a game like the Hull home game, I might die of boredom. Meandering a bit, I have often thought of the price at SMS and how it compares to say, the Mayflower. Looking at their prices, you have (ignoring matinees) most shows between at £25-45. You could go and see Jimmy Carr for £31, Craig David for £42, Jools Holland for £44 or if you want to go a bit special, "Collabro VIP pre-show £103.50 - Priority entry, photo opportunity with Collabro, best seats in the first 8 rows for the evenings concert, signed photo, exclusive VIP gift and collectable laminate". I guess the big difference being that you might go to the Mayflower a couple of times a year, while SMS 20 odd times.

Players seem to think that clubs should just let them go, without seemingly taking into account the consequences of their leaving having on the club.

WC, but..... ignoring LCFC winning the thing, can you see us ever winning it or coming top 3 or 4? Or even top 6 again? So to me, if you aren't going to be able to win the competition, what else is there? Firstly I would suggest that it is to avoid relegation, and then it is to be entertaining.

Still trotting out the same old stories..... http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/628578/Southampton-Virgil-van-Dijk-Liverpool-transfer-news Lazy journalism. Quote: "Saints want £50m to part with their prized asset."

Didn't hear any complaints about Fonte/VVD, and now that Fonte has gone, Yoshi/Stephens were no worse than him, given that they had a sustained run in the team.
-
Why should I use 2004 as a starting point? Bizarre. Footballers generally spout (empty) platitudes so you can choose whatever year you want if that makes you happy.
-
I hope not at £20m. Spurs signed him 2 years ago for £5m. He has made 15 appearances for them in the league so even in the day of mad fees, quadrupling what they paid for him is ridiculous.

Listening to talkSport (I know, I know), Jim White is going on and on about Everton (fair enough given their activity) and has just said that before Mushy turned up, they had £80m of debt and that he has personally pumped in £150m. I am sure that it has been asked/answered somewhere, but I thought that the regs were in place to stop rich owners coming in and pumping lots of money in, or is this not really the case with EFC?
-
What has Twitter said about him going to Austria? Surely that is the most relevant thing......
-
The point was how hollow a platitude "Once a Blue, always a Blue" really is.
-
He's a Lewisham boy, so Palace might be his boyhood club.
-
Doesn't this go back to Twitter, and all those who seem to read what they want out of things that are posted there. In particular didn't he post a picture of himself on a plane which people seemed to get all excited about?? [Twitter sums up the snowflakes that now populate the country, including my kids]

'I've always said I love this club and, as long as I'm wanted here, I'll play here. It's as simple as that. I can't see one reason why I should want to move. I've everything I want. My family are just 30 minutes away, I'm settled and I honestly can't see me going anywhere else unless I'm told otherwise by the manager.' (2009)

He may not want a year out, but that still doesn't address who is going to pay £40/50m for a 23yo who can be got for free in a year's time.
-
Who is going to buy Barkley for £40m (or the £50m Everton want) when he will be free next year. He has time on his side, as he is only 23, so he can afford to see his contract out.
-
Probably. I like it that we aren't there yet, but I realise my thoughts are old fashioned and football has moved on. Wolves have just broken their transfer record and spent £16m on a player (the same as our record fee). Bournemouth have spent £20m. Palace have done £30m. Not that that guarantees any success, but it is a sign of things and no doubt we will be there soon enough. But as things are, someone at the club should be congratulated on what they have done in the past. For example, our last 2 Italians. A net £11m paid (£10m + £14 less £13 the Chinese paid us) for 2 centre forwards, who are usually notoriously over priced, who both have played and scored for the national side.

Chadli is supposedly on £75k a week which I presume would be a stumbling block. Maybe West Ham??

Sorry but I am obviously showing my age as along with not getting the hooha over some twitter post, I am still think that they are Marathons not Snickers.

Munster, here is some more to keep you going, from an Everton perspective...https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/virgil-van-dijk.97515/

And that there, as I have said on several occasions, is the pertinent point. Just because a transfer is ridiculously over priced, does not mean that all should or will be. Last season, £50m was not the norm. Last season.....https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/transferrekorde/wettbewerb/GB1/plus//galerie/0?saison_id=2016&land_id=alle&ausrichtung=&spielerposition_id=alle&altersklasse=&leihe=&w_s=&zuab=0 Pogba - silly price Oscar - silly price Stones - silly price Sané - £42.5m seems where the less silly ones start. Then it was Xhaka, Mkhitaryan and Mané. But if you put Mané's add ons on, then he was the 5th highest transfer in the world last season.
