How many countless thousands of games took place without problems? How many games took place where the stewardship was shambolic leading to multiple casualties? And you have to ask why all seaters were brought in. HIllsborough gave a reason for it, but it was more to do with hooliganism inside the stadium and the government's desire to stamp that out, and to that end it has been pretty successful. The whole of football should not be held hostage by the sensibilities of Liverpool. Maybe that is OTT, but I believe that they are the only club to not want to see it introduced, This is in no way meant to make light of their pain endured over the past 27 years but if they don't want to have safe standing at Anfield, then they don't have to have it. But, as things are, we have "unsafe" standing - even on the Kop. Looking at SMS, and most other grounds, do any away supporters ever sit? So if there is tacit acceptance of standing (mainly due to the inability to get thousands to sit down), why fight it? It should also be pointed out that fencing is no longer in place at grounds, so that crush which lead to so many deaths should be lessened.

I'm 6'3" and my wife has yet to call me the Long Pork Sausage. Maybe that missing inch is what swings it.

Some more non-English Melbourne City are stripes, I believe Or how about the mighty Tanjong Pagar Utd who are also in stripes. And maybe Tony Fernandes's AirAsia FC which changed its name to Petaling Jaya Rangers - they seem to chop and change between stripes, hoops and solid. And then copying Atletico's strip (not a surprise I guess seeing as they own part of it) you have Atletico de Kolkata. Phnom Penh Crown seem to have the inverse of our 2017/18 short, ie red middle with white wings.

I knew it was too good to last. Over a year free from your "worries".......!

Stripes - Náutico Capibaribe, PSV, Chivas USA, Sligo Rovers, Guadalajara Hoops - US National team?

So that's £60m

God talkSport have average presenters. Brazil pretends he is a dipsomaniac (or maybe he is). Quim - nothing needs saying. The two Mikes just shout gibberish at each other. Durham is a tool who speaks bollôcks, along with his sycophantic sidekick who should stick to cricket. Now he is saying that SFC are being unfair not selling him when we have sold others, and why anyone would stay in the madhouse that is SFC. Time to take the dogs for a walk.

Are you talking about Durham?? I very rarely can listen to him. Sometimes, just sometimes he speaks sense. But 99% of the other time.......

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4628946/Crystal-Palace-offer-Frank-Boer-manager-s-job.html Interesting phraseology used by each paper!! Guardian says Palace choose FdB over MP, while Mail says MP chooses Saints over CP. Seems everyone might be happy then
-
asked a while ago and apparently he does. It is an important issue I think.
-
I'd quite like FdB here but I guess best to wait until we see who we get.

The Premier League should have nothing to do with it. The FA should be the one looking into it, and once the accusation has been reported, there should be no mechanism to withdraw it.

Tbh I accept that players want to move but in all the goings on, it is that we should be grateful to Liverpool for their money that I find most silly. Hugely patronising.
-
-
That is very true. I quite like what Churchill said - The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
-
I can't see the problem. If you are a pro you expect to play every game, so you should be ready for all games. If you are then not chosen, then you can go.
-
Christ alive. I flit between a pessimistic optimism and optimistic pessimism, but damn, we have a lot of pessimistic pessimists here who seem to think that the recent success is by accident rather than design as old Les is apparently clearly incapable of organising a pîss up in a brewery.

Ah the lovely Micky Quim is spouting off. Aldridge is an ex-player just giving his opinion. Blah blah blah. Southampton have made a lot of money of Liverpool (I think that he means we should be grateful!). Southampton need to grow up and just accept that he wants to leave, and that we are annoyed that a bidding war hasn't started. Blah blah blah. It is such a shame that so much of the football media is so Liverpool biased as objectivity is something that seems devoid in their reporting and commentary.

Do you think Brazilians will like the weather in Newcastle, when that cold east wind blows in?? Not sure we have had much luck with South Americans
-
Might be uninspiring but it might be inspired.
-
But what happens if we do, but get more than 46 points? Improvement or not?
-
I am confused. Weren't we supposed ot be announcing the manager today, or was it only possibly today, but maybe tomorrow?
-
"Players and their agents hold all the power these days and if he says he won’t kick another ball for Southampton and demands a move, it will happen." Well actually, no they don't hold all the power these days. That is what Liverpool mistakenly think. There is a contract in place between both parties, and we hold his player registration. But of course it is a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face. However the situation is risible. Liverpool talk to him, agree terms etc, and are prepared to pay £50m. We get the hump and say no, and that anyway, his value is £70m Liverpool not prepared to pay that so, as marc says, the ex players come out and say that he should force a move by going on strike. Brilliant. And he has the gall to say "I don’t like the way the game has gone in some ways and players can hold clubs to ransom if they want a move and big money offers are coming in, but that the way of the world now." And even more risible is his next load of bollôcks. "Let’s look at the facts here: Southampton paid £13m for this guy a couple of years ago and they could end up making a profit of around £40m on him." So because we make a £40m profit (not sure quite why he thinks we will sell at what Liverpool want to pay) we should be happy and let him go. Just have to laugh really, as it really is a little pathetic. So

Sakho.... If he is not good enough for LFC, why should he be good enough for us?
